В работе выполнена сравнительная оценка радиальных напряжений на границе раздела слоев металла и полимерного покрытия судовых композиционных элементов. Поле напряжений создается при изготовлении судовых композиционных элементов с большой кривизной рабочих поверхностей. Учтено влияние на адгезионную прочность действия факторов внешней среды. При эксплуатации морских судов характерно влияние на композиционные элементы воздуха, морской воды, нефтепродуктов. Проведены экспериментальные исследования композиционных криволинейных элементов с радиусом кривизны 300 мм. Подтверждена корректность предложенной расчетной зависимости. Показано, что основной причиной появления радиальных напряжений в композиционных элементах является различие коэффициентов Пуассона и линейного расширения материалов. Результаты проведенного исследования можно использовать для расчета радиальных напряжений на границе раздела слоев в зависимости от характеристик прочности судовых композиционных элементов. In this paper, a comparative assessment of radial stresses at the interface between metal layers and polymer coating of ship composite elements is performed. The stress field is created in the manufacture of ship composite elements with a large curvature of the working surfaces. The influence of environmental factors on the adhesive strength is taken into account. When operating marine vessels, the influence of air, sea water, and petroleum products on the composite elements is characteristic. Experimental studies of composite curved elements with a radius of curvature 300 mm were conducted. The correctness of the proposed calculation relationship was confirmed. It is shown that the main reason for the appearance of radial stresses in composite elements is the difference between the Poisson coefficients and the linear expansion of materials. The results of this research can be used to calculate radial stresses at the interface of layers depending on the strength characteristics of ship composite elements.

This paper presents a method of sorption using peat for elimination of emergency spills of crude oil and petroleum products and the possibility of energy use of oil-saturated peat. The results of assessment of the sorbent capacity of peat are presented, with waste motor oil and diesel fuel chosen as petroleum products. Natural peat has been found to possess sorption properties in relation to petroleum products. The sorbent capacity of peat can be observed from the first minutes of contact with motor oil and diesel fuel, and significantly depends on their viscosity. For the evaluation of thermal properties of peat saturated with petroleum products, experimental studies have been conducted on determination of moisture and ash content of as-fired fuel. It is shown that adsorbed oil increases the moisture and ash content of peat in comparison with the initial sample. Therefore, when intended for energy use, peat saturated with petroleum products is to be subjected to additional drying. Simulation of net calorific value has been performed based on the calorific values of peat and petroleum products with different ratios of petroleum product content in peat and for a saturated peat sample. The obtained results are compared with those of experiments conducted in a calorimetric bomb and recalculated for net calorific value. A satisfactory discrepancy is obtained, which amounts to about 12%. Options have been considered providing for combustion of saturated peat as fuel (burnt per se and combined with a solid fuel) and processing it to produce liquid, gaseous and solid fuels. Peat can be used to solve environmental problems of elimination of emergency spills of crude oil and petroleum products and as an additional resource in solving the problem of finding affordable energy.

The purpose of this study is to provide a brief introduction to effect size calculation in single-subject design studies, including a description of nonparametric and regression-based effect sizes. We then focus the rest of the tutorial on common regression-based methods used to calculate effect size in single-subject experimental studies. We start by first describing the difference between five regression-based methods (Gorsuch, White et al., Center et al., Allison and Gorman, Huitema and McKean). This is followed by an example using the five regression-based effect size methods and a demonstration how these methods can be applied using a sample data set. In this way, the question of how the values obtained from different effect size methods differ was answered. The specific regression models used in these five regression-based methods and how these models can be obtained from the SPSS program were shown. R2 values obtained from these five methods were converted to Cohen’s d value and compared in this study. The d values obtained from the same data set were estimated as 0.003, 0.357, 2.180, 3.470, and 2.108 for the Allison and Gorman, Gorsuch, White et al., Center et al., as well as for Huitema and McKean methods, respectively. A brief description of selected statistical programs available to conduct regression-based methods was given.

The presence of cut outs at different positions of laminated shell component in marine and aeronautical structures facilitate heat dissipation, undertaking maintenance, fitting auxiliary equipment, access ports for mechanical and electrical systems, damage inspection and also influences the dynamic behaviour of the structures. The aim of the present study is to establish a comprehensive perspective of dynamic behavior of laminated deep shells (length to radius of curvature ratio less than one) with cut-out by experiments and numerical simulation. The glass epoxy laminated composite shell has been prepared in the laboratory by resin infusion. The experimental free vibration analysis is carried out on laminated shells with and without cut-out. The mass matrix is developed by considering rotary inertia in a lumped mass model in the numerical modeling. The results obtained from numerical and experimental studies are compared for verification and the consistency between mode shapes is established by applying modal assurance criteria.

A selection of anode coatings has been studied to get sodium hypochlorite in low concentrationduring the electrolysis of 3% solution of sodium salt and the Black Sea water. The corrosive resistance of anodes has been determined, with different batches of ruthenium and iridium oxides, as well as their characteristics: chlorine outlet while passing throughthe current, voltage on the cell, the dynamics of concentration growth of available chlorine in solution.

Two derivatives of Iimidazolidin 4-one (IMID4) and Oxazolidin 5-one (OXAZ5), were investigated as corrosion inhibitors of corrosion carbon steel in sea water by employing the theoretical and experimental methods. The results revealed that they inhibit the corrosion process and their %IE followed the order: IMID4 (89.093%) > OXAZ5 (80.179%). The %IE obtained via theoretical and experimental methods were in a good agreement with each other. The thermodynamic parameters obtained by potentiometric polarization measurements have supported a physical adsorption mechanism which followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Quantum mechanical method of Density Functional Theory (DFT) of B3LYP with a level of 6-311++G (2d, 2p) were used to calculate the geometrical structure, physical properties and inhibition efficiency parameters, in vacuum and two solvents (DMSO and H2O), all calculated at the equilibrium geometry, and correlated with the experimental %IE. The local reactivity has been studied through Mulliken charges population analysis. The morphology of the surface changes of carbon steel were studied using SEM and AFM techniques.

In this research, an analysis was carried out to develop a measuring instrument for seawater density in salt production using a microcontroller (Arduino Uno) and YL-69 sensor, this sensor was commonly used to measure soil moisture. The experimental method was used in this research to produce initial data in the form of resistance and seawater density values, then calculations are carried out using statistical methods to find equations and produce a constant variable that connects the resistance and seawater density values. The equation was used to compile the algorithm into Arduino Uno. As for the results of this research,  From six experiments conducted, two experiments produced the same sea water density value between the actual and the predicted, namely the 2nd and 5th experiments, while for other experiments there was a difference between the actual and predicted values, however, it was not too significant, the difference occurs between the value range 0 ~ 1, to determine the level of error, use the Mean Square Error (MSE) with an error level of = 0.5 and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) with an error level of = 0.6. The contribution of this research is an algorithm that can predict the density value (baume) based on the resistance value obtained from the YL 69 sensor.

This thesis presents a flexible trailing edge mechanism capable of undergoing a change in camber for a wing section. The mechanism takes advantage of a rigid constraint between the ends of two flexible carbon fiber panels, which produces a deflection when there is a difference in length between the two panels. A prototype was designed and built and experimental data was collected for the deformation of the panels for different values of lengths and analyzed to find a function to describe the coefficients which form the polynomials describing the shape for each of the panels, based on the difference in length value. Deflection and deflection angle results were used to develop a controller which will calculate the required change in length based on a deflection or angle and a bottom panel length input.

Abstract In this paper volumetric losses in hydraulic motor supplied with water and mineral oil (two liquids having significantly different viscosity and lubricating properties) are described and compared. The experimental tests were conducted using an innovative hydraulic satellite motor, that is dedicated to work with different liquids, including water. The sources of leaks in this motor are also characterized and described. On this basis, a mathematical model of volumetric losses and model of effective rotational speed have been developed and presented. The results of calculation of volumetric losses according to the model are compared with the results of experiment. It was found that the difference is not more than 20%. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that this model well describes in both the volumetric losses in the motor supplied with water and oil. Experimental studies have shown that the volumetric losses in the motor supplied with water are even three times greater than the volumetric losses in the motor supplied with oil. It has been shown, that in a small constant stream of water the speed of the motor is reduced even by half in comparison of speed of motor supplied with the same stream of oil.
