Fana’ is term for annihilation of the self-appreciation, a concept highlighted in Sufism represents the vanishing of the human wicked attributes that is embellished by various demands of evil desires. On the other hands, Fanā’ is also refers to the only concentration of the memory in appreciation of the perfection and the glory of Allah SWT. This is because fana' is a high level stage of consciousness and a precise focus attentions only on Allah SWT to the stage that other things to be blunt as if lost from seeker’s memory. Nevertheless, in the discourse of Islamic thoughts, many misunderstandings and misappropriation are correlated to the concept of fana’ that occurs in Sufis path. Therefore, this article efforts to high spot the concept of fana’ conferring to Sheikh Daud al-Fatani (d.1847) through his work to scrutinize the extent to which the concept of fana’ posed by him in line with other well-known Nusantara Sufi figures. This study uses the content analysis method by referring to the work of Sheikh Daud al-Fatani sufi entitled "al-Manhal al-Ṣāfī fī Bayan al-Ramz al-Sufi". The study found that the term of fana' presented by Sheikh Daud al-Fatani was in line with the meaning of fana' which was emphasized by the previous Nusantara Sufi figures such as Sayyid Abdul Rahman (d.1917), Sheikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani (d.1788) and other ancient Sufis figures. However, the use of the term is somewhat different in explaining the fana's meaning since Sheikh Daud al-Fatani in his work emphases more on the aspect of the existence stage which he labeled as the seventh stages (Martabat Tujuh). The study concludes that the concept of fana' posed by the figure was an essential bridge in understanding the concept of fanā' adopted by the practitioners of Sufis path among society nowadays.   Keywords: Fana’, Syeikh Daud al-Fatani, Nusantara Sufi, Martabat Tujuh, al-Manhal al-Ṣāfī fī Bayan al-Ramz al-Ṣūfī.       Fana‟ menurut disiplin Ilmu Tasawuf ialah lenyap sifat manusiawi yang terbelenggu dengan pelbagai tuntutan syahwat dan hawa nafsu, hal keadaan tumpuan ingatan hati hanya tenggelam dalam menghayati sifat kesempurnaan dan keagungan Allah SWT. Hal demikian adalah kerana fana‟ merupakan kesedaran aras tinggi dan tumpuan ingatan yang jitu yang hanya terumpu kepada Allah SWT hingga ingatan dan perasaan terhadap perkara lain menjadi tumpul seolah-olah lenyap daripada ingatan. Walaupun begitu, dalam wacana pemikiran akidah, banyak ditimbulkan isu-isu yang berkait dengan kesilapfahaman dan penyelewengan terhadap institusi tarekat khususnya yang berkait dengan konsep fana‟. Oleh yang demikian, artikel ini cuba mengetengahkan konsep fana‟ menurut Sheikh Daud al-Fatani (w. 1847M) menerusi karya beliau untuk meneliti sejauh mana konsep fana yang telah dikemukakan oleh beliau selaras dengan tokoh sufi Nusantara yang lain dan tokoh- tokoh sufi silam lain yang muktabar. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah analisis kandungan dengan merujuk karya sufi Sheikh Daud al-Fatani yang berjudul “al-Manhal al-Safi fiBayan al-Ramz al-Sufi”. Kajian mendapati bahawa istilah fana‟ yang dikemukakan oleh Sheikh Daud al-Fatani selaras dengan makna fana‟ yang telah diketengahkan oleh tokoh sufi Nusantara seperti Sayyid Abdul Rahman (w. 1917M), Sheikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani (w. 1788M) dan tokoh sufi silam yang muktabar. Walau bagaimanapun, penggunaan istilahnya agak berbeza dalam memberi penjelasan tentang pengertian fana‟. Di samping itu, Sheikh Daud al-Fatani dalam karya beliau lebih banyak menumpukan perbincangan terhadap aspek peringkat kewujudan yang diistilahkan oleh beliau sebagai martabat tujuh. Kajian menyimpulkan bahawa konsep fana‟ yang dikemukakan beliau merupakan suatu jambatan asas yang penting dalam memahami konsep fanā‟ yang digunapakai oleh pengamal tarekat kesufian dalam kalangan masyarakat kini.   Kata kunci: Fana‟, Syeikh Daud al-Fatani, Sufi Nusantara, Martabat Tujuh, al-Manhal al-Safi Bayan al-Ramz al-Sufi.

It is known that studies are carried out in certain societies regarding the reasons for the occurrence of lie-telling behavior, which is one of the most important parts of human sociability. Nevertheless, studies on the reasons for lying of adults in Turkey appear to be insufficient. For this reason, the present study aimed to reveal the reasons for lying of adults in Turkey. A total of 75 people aging between 19 and 46 (Mage= 26.84) participated in this study. Participants were given a question form that had four open-ended questions prepared to reveal the reasons for self-benefiting and other-benefiting lying. The content analysis method, one of the qualitative analysis techniques, was used to analyze data. Findings showed that privacy, interference in autonomy, face-saving, fruition, avoiding a negative situation, hiding the truth and evading were the most common reasons for the self-benefiting lying. On the other hand, preventing harm, protecting others, making others happy, politeness, and preventing relationship breakdown were the most common reasons for the other-benefiting lying. Each reason for lying was discussed in comparison with the international literature and suggestions for future studies to be conducted in Turkey on this issue were presented. Purpose: In this article, Mr. Naseem Hijazi, a lesser-known hero of the Pakistan Movement, is highlighted. The primary purpose of this paper is to expose the hidden aspects of Mr. Naseem Hijazi's life. He was a well-known novelist and writer, as well as a freedom fighter. He was a member of the Pakistan Movement, but few people were aware of his involvement. He was a devoted Muslim and a firm believer in Islam. This research paper investigates and analyses the life of Naseem Hijazi to get a complete image of him. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research demonstrates that delving into individual biographies might provide a contextualized view of Naseem Hijazi's life, allowing for a complete picture of him. This study employed a qualitative content analysis method to examine Naseem Hijazi's biography during the Independence Movement. Findings: The finding shows that Naseem Hejazi had a passion for life that could enthrall any of his companions. During a radio interview, Syed Hashim Raza described his relationship with Naseem Hejazi, saying that the Muslim League was the only party working to establish Pakistan between 1940 and 1947. Naseem Hejazi was one of those who stood behind Quaid-e-Azam throughout those times and was respected by all. Naseem Hejazi, I believe, ran half of the pro-Muslim League propaganda effort in Baluchistan, while Mir Jaffer Khan Jamali ran the other half. Quetta's Pasban Fortnightly, June 15 (1939: 6). Implications/Originality/Value: In such a situation, history books about the Pakistan Movement should be rewritten to acknowledge Naseem Hejazi's work as one of the nation's benefactors.”

Thesis is a prerequisite for graduation in all academic institutions. Higher Education institutions, such as Imam Bonjol Islamic State Institute requires its students to write a thesis in order to graduate. Students write their theses and they were examined before the board of examiners. However, students found it difficult to write ‘good’ theses that show academic honesty and high level of originality. This is a big issue in our institution, this article, therefore examines factors that reduce originality of students’ theses. Having analysed over 10 theses using content analysis method, the authors found that almost all theses contain issues that reduces the originality of the theses. Students frequently commit structural plagiarism, in which they tend to follow the structure of their colleagues’ theses, and only made minor changes. Other finding showed that in stating their research problem, students make a claim without appropriate justification. Issues of referencing and paraphrasing are two important issues that reduce qualities of students’ theses.

Advertisement is a way of communication preferred by companies so as to communicate with their target audience. Nowadays, children account for a large number of consumers worldwide, having their own preferences in terms of fashion, toys, foods, and television channels. One of the most important aspects of advertisement is the appeal. This chapter deals with the appeals mostly used in children targeted advertisements and analysis their content. In total, 334 advertisements were analyzed through content analysis method. The findings of the study show that emotional appeals are far more commonly used than rational appeals. Specially in toy advertisements, the joy/happiness sub-appeal is preferred more than the other sub-appeals. As for the use of rational appeals analyzed, it appears that the price sub-appeal tops the list.

<p><strong>Abstrak: </strong>Studi ini mengkaji perkembangan terkini karya-karya tafsir di Indonesia dan Iran. Kedua negara ini memiliki perbedaan dari aspek dasar negara dan paham keagamaan penduduknya. Indonesia bukan negara Islam, berasaskan Pancasila, dan mayoritas penduduknya menganut Islam Sunni. Adapun Iran adalah sebuah Republik Islam dan mayoritas penduduknya menganut Islam Syiah. Studi ini merupakan kajian kepustakaan dan data yang diperoleh melalui telaah dokumen akan dianalisis dengan metode analisis isi. Studi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran tentang perkembangan studi tafsir di dunia Sunni dan Syiah di era kontemporer. Studi ini mengajukan temuan bahwa ulama kedua negara sama-sama mengembangkan kajian tafsir, dan telah menghasilkan sejumlah kitab tafsir. Karya tafsir di Iran bercorak Syiah, sedangkan kitab tafsir di Indonesia bercorak Sunni. Tetapi, dalam konteks kontemporer, ulama Iran telah menghasilkan banyak karya tafsir dimana para <em>marja‘ taqlid</em> memainkan peran penting dalam pengkajian tafsir, sedangkan ulama Indonesia saat ini kurang banyak menulis kitab tafsir.<br /><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Abstract</strong>: <strong>Perkembangan Kontemporer Studi Tafsir Alquran di Indonesia dan Iran</strong>. This study examines the latest developments in Qur’anic exegesis in Indonesia and Iran. These two countries differ in their forms of state and the affiliation of its people. Indonesia is not an Islamic State—albeit based on Pancasila that stresses monotheism—and the majority of its people adhere to Sunni Islam.  Iran, on the other hand, is a declared Islamic Republic and the majority of its population adheres to Shiite Islam. This study is a literary review and the obtained data was analyzed using content analysis method. This study found that scholars in the two countries have developed interpretation studies, and have produced a number of Qur’anic exegesis. Naturally, Qur’anic exegesis works in Iran are Shiah in style, while those of Indonesia are Sunni in genres. Apparently, in contemporary context, Iranian scholars have been more productive than their Indonesian counterparts. <em>Marja‘ taqlid</em> plays a very important role in this scholarly enterprise.</p><p><br /><strong>Kata Kunci: </strong>Indonesia, Iran, Sunni, Syiah, Alquran, tafsir<br /><br /></p>

The objectives of the research were three novels of Asma Nadia which discussed the issue of women. The novels are Surga yang tak dirindukan, Asslamualaikum Beijing, Cinta 2 Kodi. This research used qualitative approach with content analysis method using gynocritic study. The data of this research was obtained through the reading of the novel repeatedly and intensively, identifying, recording, classifying, and testing the validity of the data through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The issues discussed in this research related to Novel Structure and Biology of Women. The findings of this research is recommended in practice for the next researchers who will complete the study of the other side, and to the lectures who want to teach literature, especially the works of literary novels.

Penelitian ini hendak mengungkap priyayi dan kawula dalam Pasar, sebuah novel karya Kuntowijoyo. Konsep bibit (keturunan), bebet (kekayaan), dan bobot (pengetahuan) yang digunakan sebagai kriteria untuk menjadi priyayi, di zaman modern ini harus kembali ditinjau. Selain priyayi terpelajar, ada dua jenis priyayi lain menurut Kuntowijoyo, yaitu priyayi yang bekerja pada raja dan priyayi yang bekerja untuk kerajaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis konten dalam membedah novel Pasar dengan tujuan untuk mencari kriteria dan jenis gelar priyayi yang bisa diraih seseorang meski ia tidak mempunyai bibit dan bebet priyayi. Hasil penelitian pada novel ini menegaskan bahwa pendidikan dapat meningkatkan kelas sosial seseorang sebagaimana yang telah Kuntowijoyo definisikan sebagai priyayi terpelajar.Abstract:The research is intended to reveal the priyayi and kawula concept in the novel of Pasar, by Kuntowijoyo. Three modalities of bibit (descendant), bebet (wealth), and bobot (knowledge) used as a criterion to become priyayi, in this modern epoch have tobe evaluated. Besides educated priyayi, Kuncoro also divides  two other kinds of priyayi ,namely, priyayi who works for the king and the other who works for the kingdom (government). This research applies the content analysis method in order to find the criteria and type priyayi title which can be reached by  someone who does not have the priyayi’s bibit and bebet. The result of the  research on this novel asserts that education can improve someone’s standard as Kuntowijoyo defined as educated priyayi.

This study investigates the impoliteness strategies in online comments in Liputan6.com. The objectives of this study are: 1) to investigate the types of impoliteness strategies used on online comments in website Liputan6.com, 2) to find out the dominant type of impoliteness strategies used on online comments in website Liputan6.com. This study was conducted by using qualitative content analysis method. The data were taken from comments of internet users in five topics of political news in Idntimes.com. The finding showed that four of five types of impoliteness strategies are used on online comments in website Liputan6.com. They are: Bald on Record, Positive impoliteness, Negative Impoliteness, and Sarcasm or Mock politeness. The dominant types is negative impoliteness by used scorn or ridicules comments and invade the other's space with that comments and explicitly associate the other with a negative aspect

Radicalism is often only placed face to face between radical groups versus the state. In fact, radicalism is not only born because of the contradiction between the two but involves the mediation of ideas through social media. This paper seeks how the discourse of radicalism on social media by content analysis method on social media during August-September 2018. This study reveals that radicalism on social media is not only related to religious issues. Some of the other issues attributed to radicalism are about elections, politics, government, criminality, and other social issues. The various contexts of the radicalism talks often do not refer to major events, but radicalism is associated with other contexts unrelated to the main event as a reference. This shows how social media is becoming an intermediary for biased "radicalism" discourse.

The ishārī interpretation is one of the style or form in the tafsir studies. On the one hand, ishāri was considered to have a positive impact on the interpretation of the al-Qur’an and on the other hand, it was considered a deviant kind of interpretation from al-maqāsid al-shar’iyyah or even contrary to the al-Qur’an and hadīth as the main source in interpreting the al-Qur’an. Therefore, scholars make provisions, criteria, and requirement in interpretation. The mufassir classifies what is considered the main (al-asīl) or basis in an interpretation, and which is considered as abuses (al-dakhīl) in an interpretation. From this academic problem, the discipline of al-asīl wa al-dakhīl fi al-tafsīr was emergent. This research aims to aim to discovere out meeting point the ishāri interpretation, whether it is true or worthy of being considered as al-dakhīl in interpretation or is it necessary to reconstruct the definition, type, or division in the knowledge of al-asīl and al-dakhīl? This study uses the content analysis method so that discussions and conclusions can be traced so that it can produce a neat and orderly conclusion, which in turn results in a conclusion that the ishārī interpretation will be considered and categorized as al-asīl if it meets several conditions: a) the interpretation does not contradict the meaning of z}ahir the end of the verse, b) the interpretation must not contradict reason and sharī'ah, and c) between the interpretation and the interpretation interpreted there is a relationship and correlation.
