More and more evidences show that the imbalance of intestinal flora is closely related to the occurrence of diseases. Through the regulation of intestinal microecology to prevent and treat diseases, it becomes a new entry point to treat diseases. As a typical representative of non-drug therapy, acupuncture and moxibustion plays an obvious role in regulating intestinal flora imbalance. This paper summarizes the effect and mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion intervention on intestinal flora in the past ten years to provide more evidence for the treatment of diseases caused by intestinal flora imbalance.

The primary function of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Laws, at the very beginning of its inception, was that of teaching civil law and Sharî’ah subjects. As it matured, its vision has been varied from teaching to that of research with the aim of attaining the status of a full research institution that provides both quality research and best legal education in the region. Similar to other institutions of higher education in Malaysia, the responsibility of research is a shared function of both graduate students and the academic staff. The research output, on the part of the students is mostly composed of either Master Dissertations or PhD Theses. The academic members of the Faculty, however, are involved either in direct research, individually or jointly, supervision, and publications of their findings. By investigating and analyzing factors influencing research activities at AIKOL in the past twenty years, the researchers will be able to identify the general trends and development of research as it unfolded over years. The researchers hope that the policymakers, at both Faculty and University levels, will use the findings to improve research quality by boldly addressing the problems hampering research progress at AIKOL.

Acoustic metamaterials are materials with artificially designed structures, which have characteristics that surpass the behavior of natural materials, such as negative refraction, anomalous Doppler effect, plane focusing, etc. This article mainly introduces and summarizes the related research progress of acoustic metamaterials in the past two decades, focusing on meta-atomic acoustic metamaterials, metamolecular acoustic metamaterials, meta-atomic clusters and metamolecule cluster acoustic metamaterials. Finally, the research overview and development trend of acoustic metasurfaces are briefly introduced.

Tremella polysaccharide is known to be structurally unique and biologically active natural products, abundant and versatile in activities and applications in food industry, daily chemical industry and medicine industry. In order to improve the industrialisation of Tremella polysaccharide, the limitations of preparation and structure-activity relationship of Tremella polysaccharide were reviewed in this paper. The research progress of Tremella polysaccharide in the past 20 years was summarized from the sources, preparation methods, molecular structure, activity and application, and the research trend in the future was also prospected. The application prospect of Tremella polysaccharide in against multiple sub-health states was worth expecting.

The field of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has experienced significant growth in the past 15 years which is mainly devoted to determining the basic and clinical potential of tDCS in humans. The aim of this study is to quantitatively analyze the current worldwide progress on tDCS research as well as to highlight researchers, journals, institutions and countries which are contributing significantly in the past 18 years. We conducted a quantitative analysis of research articles regarding tDCS published from 1998 to 2016 and indexed in the web of science core collection database. Data was downloaded in October, 2016. In the past 18 years, there were 2457 studies on tDCS indexed by web of science database, including all documents type such as article, review, meeting abstract, proceedings paper, letters, and etc. This study is focusing on the main articles and reviews; therefore, the research production was reduced to 2000 publications. The analysis showed that most of the studies in the field were published by North American and European institutions with a reasonable proportion of the publications were also by Japanese institutions from Asia. From the perspective of research progress, we found that the number of published papers on tDCS has increased significantly in the past 10 years, between them a remarkable positive correlation exists.

In the past 16 years, research on mitophagy has increasingly expanded to a wider range of subjects. Therefore, comprehensively analyzing the relevant progress and development trends on mitophagy research requires specific methods. To assess the hotspots, directions, and quality of results in this field worldwide, we used multiple tools to examine research progress and growing trends in research on the matter during the last 16 years (from 2005 to 2020). We also compared the quantity and quality of the literature records on mitophagy published by research institutions in China and other developed countries, reviewed China’s contribution, and examined the gap between China and these developed countries. According to the results of our bibliometric analysis, the United States and its research institutes published the most papers. We identified cell biology as the most commonly researched subject on mitophagy and AUTOPHAGY as the most popular journal for research on mitophagy. We also listed the most cited documents from around the world and China. With gradually increased funding, China is progressively becoming prominent in the field of mitophagy; nevertheless, the gap between her and major countries in the world must be closed.

The interaction history between users and items is usually stored and displayed in the form of bipartite graphs. Neural network recommendation based on the user-item bipartite graph has a significant effect on alleviating the long-standing data sparseness and cold start of the recommendation system. The whole paper is based on the bipartite graph. An review of the recommendation system of graphs summarizes the three characteristics of graph neural network processing bipartite graph data in the recommendation field: interchangeability, Multi-hop transportability, and strong interpretability. The biggest contribution of the full paper is that it summarizes the general framework of graph neural network processing bipartite graph recommendation from the models with the best recommendation effect in the past three years: embedding layer, propagation update layer, and prediction layer. Although there are subtle differences between different models, they are all this framework can be applied, and different models can be regarded as variants of this general model, that is, other models are fine-tuned on the basis of this framework. At the end of the paper, the latest research progress is introduced, and the main challenges and research priorities that will be faced in the future are pointed out.

Structured light beams have rapidly advanced over the past few years, from specific spatial-transverse/longitudinal structure to tailored spatiotemporal structure. Such beams with diverse spatial structures or spatiotemporal structures have brought various breakthroughs to many fields, including optical communications, optical sensing, micromanipulation, quantum information processing, and super-resolution imaging. Thus, plenty of methods have been proposed, and lots of devices have been manufactured to generate structured light beams by tailoring the structures of beams in the space domain and the space–time domain. In this paper, we firstly give a brief introduction of different types of structured light. Then, we review the recent research progress in the generation and detection of structured light on different platforms, such as free space, optical fiber, and integrated devices. Finally, challenges and perspectives are also discussed.

Summary Objectives To provide an editorial introduction to the 2009 IMIA Yearbook of Medical Informatics with an overview of its contents and contributors. Methods A brief overview of the main theme, and an outline of the purposes, contents, format, and acknowledgment of contributions for the 2009 IMIA Yearbook. Results This 2009 issue of the IMIA Yearbook highlights important, beneficial loops which, if closed, could lead to considerable advances in the field of biomedical informatics and, indirectly, in healthcare and biomedical research. Progress towards closing the loops and remaining gaps are identified from the recent literature, illustrated by selected papers published during the past 12 months. Conclusion Reviews and Surveys of the main research sub-fields in biomedical informatics in the Yearbook provide an overview of progress and current challenges across the spectrum of the discipline.
