Abstract: Jatropha Leaves, Staphylococcus Epidermidis, Staphylococcus Aureus. Jatropha curcas L leaves contain tannins, saponins and flavonoids. According to some studies, tannins, saponins and flavonoids have antibacterial power. Based on these indications, it is important to do research on antibacterial potency of jatropha leaf extract (Jatropha curcas L) against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The aim of this research is to know Antibacterial Activity of Jatropha curcas L Extract on Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus". This research. An experimental study by testing the antibacterial activity of leaf extract and jatropha result of maceration, infundation and reflux as measured by Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (KHM) on growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. From the results of the research, it was found that the extract of the reflux was brownish green and the characteristic of jatropha leaves. The amount of extract produced was 17.03 g, so the yield was 17.03%. Jatropha leaf extract of maceration has no inhibitory power to S. epidermidis in 4 series concentrations starting from 3.125 ppm to 25.000 ppm. Inhibitory zones begin to appear at concentrations of 50,000 ppm and increase at concentrations of 100,000 ppm. The drag zone diameter in the Jatropha curcas extract of the reflux showed the inhibitory power in all series of concentrations. The smallest inhibitory zone was shown at a concentration of 3,125 ppm (9.33 mm) and increased with increasing concentrations. The diameter of the inhibit zone was greatest at 100,000 ppm concentrations of 22.67 mm. Description of inhibitory zone diameter of methanol leaf extract of jatropha result of maceration and reflux to S. epidermidis. The conclusion of this research is extract of reflux result giving bigger resistance than maceration extract to S. epidermidis and S. aureus. Methanol extract of jatropha from the maceration and reflux have strong antibacterial activity against S. epidermidis and S. aureus but still under Klindamycin.

AbstractChinese petai plants contain alkaloids that have antibacterial abilities including Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5 bacteria. Plaster is a dosage form whose active ingredients need to be developed from natural ingredients, especially Chinese petai leaves. The purpose of this study was to optimize the plaster of Chinese petai leaf extract and antibacterial Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5and to determine the antibacterial activity of the extract plaster with various doses. The test method for antibacterial is the well method. The data obtained is the diameter of the inhibitory power of the extract in the plaster. Data analysis to determine antibacterial activity using spss. The results of the phytochemical test showed that the Chinese petai leaf extract contained active compounds, namely tannins, saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids and steroids. Chinese petai leaf extract was also able to inhibit Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5bacteria in the extract obtained an inhibition zone of 5.1 mm at a concentration of 25% and plaster obtained an inhibition zone of 3.46 mm, a concentration of 50% obtained an inhibitory zone diameter of 5.63 mm and at plaster obtained an inhibition zone diameter of 4.5 mm, a concentration of 75% obtained an extract inhibition zone diameter of 6.56 mm on plaster obtained an inhibition zone diameter of 5.53 mm, a concentration of 100% obtained an extract inhibition zone diameter of 7 mm and on plaster The diameter of the inhibition zone was 6.46 mm. This shows that the Chinese petai leaf extract has potential as an antibacterial against the growth of Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5bacteria.Keywords: Chinese Petai, Extract, Plaster, Antibacterial AbstrakTanaman petai cina mengandung alkaloida yang memiliki kemampuan sebagai antibakteri diantaranya bakteri Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5. Plester merupakan bentuk sediaan yang bahan aktifnya perlu dikembangkan dari bahan alam terutama daun petai cina. Tujuan penelitian ini melakukan optimasi plester ekstrak daun petai cina dan antibakteri Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5dan mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri plester ekstrak dengan berbagai dosis. Metode uji terhadap antibakteri adalah metode sumuran. Data yang didapatkan adalah diameter daya hambat ekstrak dalam plester. Analisis data untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan ANOVA. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun petai cina memiliki kandungan senyawa aktif, yakni tanin, saponin, alkaloid, flavonoid dan steroid. Ekstrak daun petai cina juga mampu menghambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5pada ekstrak didapatkan zona hambat sebesar 5,1 mm pada konsentrasi 25% dan plester didapatkan zona hambat sebesar 3,46 mm, konsentrasi 50%didapatkan diameter zona hambat ekstrak sebesar 5,63 mm dan pada plester didapatkan diameter zona hambat sebesar 4,5 mm, konsentrasi 75% didapatkan diameter zona hambat ekstrak sebesar 6,56 mm pada plester didapatkan diameter zona hambat sebesar 5,53 mm, konsentrasi 100% didapatkan diameter zona hambat ekstrak sebesar 7 mm dan pada plester didapatkan diameter zona hambat sebesar 6,46 mm. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun petai cina memiliki potensi sebagai antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureusATTC 25923 PK/5.Kata kunci:Petai Cina, Ekstrak, Plester, Antibakteri

Indonesia has abundant biological rich potential so it needs to be researched and utilized especially for various plants that have potential as medicine. One of the plants that can be used as a medicinal plant and has many benefits is the Phaleria macrocarpa. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of P. macrocarpa leaf extract to inhibit the growth of Escherecia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The results showed that the leaf extract of P. macrocarpa containing tannin compounds has the ability to inhibit bacterial growth. The extract of the crown of the deity of the god is more effective in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus bacteria compared to E. coli bacteria which is shown with a larger inhibitory zone. It means that the extract of the P. macrocarpa can be used as a medicinal ingredient for diseases caused by S. aureus bacteria

Acne is an inflammatory disease that occurs in the skin triggered by the bacteria acne treatment can be done by using natural materials that shiitake mushrooms (Lentinus edodes). This aims of this study were to determining the antibacterial activity of extracts and fractions shiitake mushrooms with broth microdilution method, determining the value of equality shiitake mushrooms with antibacterial comparison and determining the morphological changes of bacteria after exposure to the test sample with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Tests conducted antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus at concentrations used is 1 ppm, 2 ppm, 4 ppm, 8 ppm, 16 ppm, 32 ppm, 64 ppm, 128 ppm, 256 ppm, 512 ppm. Best MIC value obtained in fraction of ethyl acetate and n-hexane fraction of the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus at a concentration of 256 ppm. KBM value of the n-hexane fraction against Staphylococus aureus bacteria at concentrations of 512 ppm and ethyl acetate fraction against bacteria Staphylococus aureus and epidermidis at a concentration of 512 ppm. Value equality is obtained 1 mg of ethyl acetate fraction of shiitake mushrooms equivalent to 5.346 x 10-2 mg of tetracycline. SEM test results showed the presence of antibacterial activity which is indicated by a change in cell morphology, their lumps and their cell wall frown on Propionibacterium acnes were exposed to ethyl acetate fraction.Key words: Acne, Lentinus edodes, antibacterials, microdilution, SEM

ABSTRACTDayak Onion (Eleutherine palmifolia) is one of the plants that can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that causes acne. This study aims to determine the effect of polyvinyl alcohol on peel-off gel mask preparations from onion dayak ethanol extract on the antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus that causes acne. Extraction using maceration method with 96% ethanol. The concentration of dayak onion extract was made at 5%, 7.5%, and 10% and the peel-off gel mask formula from dayak onion extract with variations in extract concentration were 5%, 7.5%, and 10% based on Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA). Antibacterial activity is carried out using the disk disc method. In testing the inhibition of dayak onion extract at a concentration of 5% resulted in a clear zone of 15.5 mm, a concentration of 7.5% and 10% producing the same clear zone diameter of 17.1 mm. The peel-off gel mask in formulation I obtained a clear zone diameter of 8.7 mm, formulation II the diameter of the clear zone was 12.2 mm, and formula III the diameter of the clear zone was 15.3 mm. The results of this study indicate that on dayak onion extract has a greater inhibitory power compared to the dayak onion extract peel-off gel mask preparation. It can be concluded that the PVA in the preparation affects the amount of inhibitory power on the bacteria forming acne, namely Staphylococcus aureus.Keywords: Dayak onion extract, Staphylococcus aureus, disk discs, antibacterial inhibitory test, acne-causing bacteria, peel-off gel mask.

Daun Kelor (Moringa oleifera Lam.) bermanfaat untuk menghambat aktivitas pertumbuhan bakteri karena adanya kandungan senyawa flavonoid , alkaloid, dan fenol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak etanol daun Kelor dan sediaan masker gel peel-off ekstrak etanol daun Kelor terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental laboratorium, ekstrak etanol daun kelor dan sediaan masker gel peel-off ekstrak etanol daun Kelor dibuat dengan konsentrasi 1, 3, 5, 7, dan 9%. Ekstrak daun Kelor diperoleh dengan cara maserasi dengan menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Pada pengujian antibakteri menggunakan metode sumuran. Diameter zona hambat paling besar yang ditimbulkan oleh ekstrak etanol daun Kelor yaitu pada konsentrasi 7% dengan diameter zona hambat sebesar 5,75 mm, sedangkan pada sediaan masker gel peel-off tidak menunjukkan adanya daya hambat. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun Kelor memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang.Moringa oleifera Lam. (Moringa oleifera) leaves are useful for inhibiting bacterial growth activity due to the presence of flavonoid, alkaloid, and phenol compounds. This study aims to test the antibacterial activity of the Moringa leaf ethanol extract and the gel peel-off mask preparation of Moringa leaf ethanol extract against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This study uses laboratory experimental methods, Moringa leaf ethanol extract and gel mask peel-off preparation for Moringa leaf ethanol extract made with concentrations of 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9%. Moringa leaf extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent. In antibacterial testing using the well method. The biggest inhibition zone diameter caused by ethanol extract of Moringa leaves is at a concentration of 7% with a inhibition zone diameter of 5.75 mm, whereas the peel-off gel mask preparation did not show any inhibitory power. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of Moringa leaves has antibacterial activity which is included in the medium category.

Telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi senyawa metabolit sekunder  dari ekstrak daun kaf menggunakan tiga jenis pelarut yakni n-heksan, etil asetat, dan metanol. Ekstrak yang diperoleh diuji aktivitas antibakterinya dengan metode difusi yang menggunakan bakteri Staphylococcusaureus dan Escherichia coli. Dari hasil pengujian fitokimia, ketiga ekstrak tersebut menunjukan bahwa sampel mengandung senyawa; alkaloid, saponin, steroid, flavonoid dan tanin. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri  dengan metode difusi menunjukan hasil yang paling tinggi aktivitas antibakteri adalah  estrak etil asetat dengan zona hambat 35,75 mm terhadap bakteri  Staphylococcus aureus, sedangkan pada ekstrak metanol memiliki zona hambat 23,75 mm terhadap bakteri Escherichia coliResearch has been carried out aimed at identifying secondary metabolites of kaf leaf extract using three types of solvents, namely n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol.The obtained extracts were tested for antibacterial activity by diffusion method using Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. From the results of phytochemical testing, the three extracts showed that the sample contained compounds; alkaloids, saponins, steroids, flavonoids and tannins. Antibacterial activity testing with diffusion method showed the highest antibacterial activity was estracethyl ethyl acetate with 35.75 mm inhibition zone against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, whereas methanol had 23.75 mm inhibitory zone against Escherichia coli bacteria

ABSTRACT One of the potential medicinal plants as traditional medicine is gardenia plant (Gardenia augusta). Gardenia leaf extract contains alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, tannins, saponins and triterpenoids, which are known to have antibacterial abilities..The aim of this research was to determine the antibacterial activity of gardenia leaf extract on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella thypi. The examination on the inhibitory power using the Kirby-Bauer method. The Kirby-Bauer method is referring to the diffusion method using paper disc with five treatments, namely the extract of gardenia leaves with a substance concentration of 20%, 40%, and 60% as well positive control (Ciprofloxacin) and negative control (aquades). Based on the research results obtained, it can be concluded that gardenia leaf extract can inhibit growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella thypi at a concentration of 20%, 40% and 60% and classified as strong and medium category. Pengujian daya hambat menggunakan metode Kirby-Bauer, yaitu metode difusi dengan cakram kertas dengan 5 perlakuan yaitu ekstrak daun kacapiring dengan konsentrasi 20%, 40%, dan 60% serta kontrol positif (ciprofloxacin) dan kontrol negatif (akuades). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun kacapiring dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli dan Salmonella thypi pada konsentrasi 20%, 40% dan 60% dan tergolong dalam kategori kuat dan sedang. Betel  nut (Areca catechu L.) is a natural material that has antibacterial activity in treating diseased on teeth, halitosis and can inhibit of dental caries. The objective of this research is type of bacteria based on morphology, the results of bacterial identification tests on the tongue and to determine the effect of the inhibitory power of betel nut ethanol extract (Areca catechu L.) to bacteria of the tongue. Antibacterial activity testing using disc diffusion method with various concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30%. Secondary metabolite contents  are alkaloid, terpenoid and flavonoid.The results obtained from the identification test based on the color of bacteria Branhamella catarrhalis, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Straphylococcus aureus. Ethanol extract of areca nut (Areca catechu L.) is better to inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus compared to Branhamella catarrhalis. Based on Two Way Anova statistical data on inhibitory zone diameters, there were differences between the concentration groups of 10%, 20% and 30% and there were significant differences in the inhibitory activity of Branhamella catarrhalis bacteria compared to Staphylococcus epidermidis and Straphylococcus aureus bacteria but not significantly different between Staphylococcus epidermidis and Straphylococcus aureus bacteria

Antibiotics have a very important role in fighting bacterial infections in the body. However, the results given so far have not been optimal in overcoming the problem of bacterial infection. An alternative solution is to develop and study plants that have medicinal potential, for example thistle leaves (Calotrophis gigantean). The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of thistle leaf extract against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This research is a laboratory-scale experimental research that is to test the activity of thistle leaf extract against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus including sample identification, extraction, activity testing by observing the inhibition zone of the two tested bacteria. Based on the results of the study stated that the ethanol extract of 70% Widuri leaves (Calotrophis gigantea) had antibacterial activity and could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The active compounds that are thought to have antibacterial properties in the ethanol extract of Widuri leaves (Calotrophis gigantea) are flavonoids, alkaloids and terpenoids.   Keywords: Widuri leaves, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Antibacterial ABSTRAK   Pentingnya penanggulangan infeksi bakteri menggunakan antibiotik adalah hal yang lazim dalam terapi farmakologi. Dampak dari pemberian antibiotik masih belum maksimal dalam penanggulangannya terhadap infeksi bakteri. Pemilihan alternatif bahan alam dengan kandungan kimia yang memiliki potensi sebagai antibiotik dapat menjadi pilihan lain dalam mengurangi penggunaan antibiotik sintetik, misalnya tanaman widuri (Calotrophis gigantean). Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun widuri terhadap Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Desain penelitian meliputi identifikasi sampel, ekstraksi, hingga uji aktivitas dengan mengamati zona hambat dari kedua bakteri uji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 70% daun Widuri memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Senyawa aktif yang diduga bersifat antibakteri pada ekstrak etanol daun Widuri adalah senyawa golongan flavonoid, alkaloid dan terpenoid.
