This paper presents the comparative analysis of the existing international normative calculation (EN 13445-3 European, ASME-Code, Section VIII, British Standard (PD 5500: 2009)) on the flange gasket joint situated inside the circle location of the bolt holes. The comparative analysis was performed for the same type of flange. The paper presents a comparative study of American and European standard, in terms of cost of production for the pressure equipment to assess the strengths and weaknesses of these regulations.

In the year 2000, ASME Code Section VIII—Div. 1, CODAP (French Code) and EN 13445 (European Standard for Unfired Pressure Vessels) have adopted the same rules for the design of U-tube tubesheet heat exchangers. Three different rules were proposed, based on a different technical basis, to cover: —Tubesheet gasketed with shell and channel; —Tubesheet integral with shell and channel; —Tubesheet integral with shell and gasketed with channel or the reverse. At the initiative of the author, a more refined and uniform technical approach has been developed, to cover all tubesheet configurations. The paper explains the rationale for this new design method which has been incorporated recently in ASME, CODAP, and EN 13445. This is substantiated with comparisons to TEMA Standards and a benchmark of numerical comparisons

New Challenges for Mentoring Based on International Standards is a comparative study that shows a qualitative analysis conducted by a group of researchers from the Autonomous University of Carmen, Mexico, based on the figure of mentoring, as an essential element in institutions of higher education superior in this country, whose approach is aimed at the conceptualization, development and application of tutoring from the educational perspective and from the results obtained in the comparative analysis with the University of Salamanca, Spain, in order to observe the behavior and impact at the European level, to identify successes and areas of opportunity with respect to said institution.

We have provided a comparative analysis of the current international computing standards (European Standard EN 13445-3; ASME-Code, Section VIII, Division 2; British Standard (PD 5500: 2009)) that take into consideration only the static loading of flanges and bolts, if the temperatures of the flanges, bolts and sealing gasket are equal to each other and lower than creep temperature. The paper has put forth relations for completion the calculation method for flange joints in situations not taken into consideration by standards, namely: � static loading if flange temperature and bolt temperature are different; -thermal transient loading; � creep stress; � fatigue loading in the general case of a sequence of blocks of normal stresses. Furthermore, relationships have been proposed for the calculation of the maximum allowable difference between a flange and a bolt so as to ensure both the tightness and the mechanical strength of the flange joint.

In a recent study conducted by the European Commission, design fatigue life of welded vessels allowed by the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code was compared with that of the European Standard EN 13445. The allowable number cycles of the ASME Code was reported to be much larger than that of EN 13445, and, therefore, the ASME Code was regarded as unconservative for welded regions. This paper investigates the reason for the reported discrepancy between the two design codes. It is found that, when calculating the allowable cycles reported in the study using the ASME Code as a basis, no fatigue strength reduction factor on stress was used, which is contrary to the ASME Code design rules for welded joints. This paper recalculates the allowable cycles according to ASME Code rules and concludes that they are comparable with those of EN 13445.

BACKGROUND Since November 2019, Covid - 19 has spread across the globe costing people their lives and countries their economic stability. The world has become more interconnected over the past few decades owing to globalisation and such pandemics as the Covid -19 are cons of that. This paper attempts to gain deeper understanding into the correlation between globalisation and pandemics. It is a descriptive analysis on how one of the factors that was responsible for the spread of this virus on a global scale is globalisation. OBJECTIVE - To understand the close relationship that globalisation and pandemics share. - To understand the scale of the spread of viruses on a global scale though a comparison between SARS and Covid -19. - To understand the sale of globalisation present during SARS and Covid - 19. METHODS A descriptive qualitative comparative analysis was used throughout this research. RESULTS Globalisation does play a significant role in the spread of pandemics on a global level. CONCLUSIONS - SARS and Covid - 19 were varied in terms of severity and spread. - The scale of globalisation was different during the time of SARS and Covid - 19. - Globalisation can be the reason for the faster spread in Pandemics.

The introduction of Eurocode in Kazakhstan allows for the application of modern technological innovations and the elimination of technical barriers for the realization of international projects. It is significant to study the international standards and design requirements provided in Eurocode. This study presents a comparative analysis of Kazakhstani and European approaches for the geotechnical design of foundations and provides the design methods in the considered codes of practice. Three different types of foundations (i.e., raft, pile, and piled raft foundations) were designed following SP RK 5.01-102-2013—Foundations of buildings and structures, SP RK 5.01-103-2013—Pile foundations, and Eurocode 7: Geotechnical design for the Nur-Sultan soil profile. For all three types of foundations, the calculated results of bearing resistance and elastic settlement showed the conservativeness of Eurocode over SNiP-based Kazakhstani building regulations, as the values of bearing resistance and elastic settlement adhering to Kazakhstani code exceeded the Eurocode values. The difference between the obtained results can be explained by the application of higher values of partial safety factors by Eurocode 7. Sensitivity analysis of the bearing resistance on foundation parameters (i.e., raft foundation width and pile length) for the Kazakhstani and European approaches was performed to support the conclusions of the study.

This study examines why and how Chinese characters spread into Korea. It subsequently conducts a comparative analysis of Korean and Chinese children’s textbooks with a focus on Yu Hap from the perspective of the acceptance and acculturation of Chinese characters. It also explores how commonly used the characters in Yu Hap are, and the text’s learning value as one of Korea’s children’s textbooks. Yu Hap is very significant as the first written language textbook published in Korea. A comparative analysis of the characters used in four children’s books published in Korea found that the characters in Yu Hap are very common, and the text has a high learning value. Approximately 50% of the characters in San Bai Qian and Yu Hap are the same, showing that both China and Korea had similar perceptions of the characters in common use. A very significant proportion of characters overlap in Basic Chinese Character for Educational Use, List of Common Words in Modern Chinese, and Yu Hap; this supports the idea that the same characters have continued to be used from ancient times to the present day.

Since recently almost all housing built in Korean have shared walls and floor, diverse problems are unavoidable including noise between floor arising from noise and vibration. Many efforts have been made by the Korean government, but the number of complaints related with the noise between floors has been gradually increasing. Therefore, through the field measurements by house type, the current state of noise was understood. To do this, the noise between floors was measured in an apartment household and a multiplex house to perform a comparative analysis. As the result, the differences in the noise between the two house types were clarified. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to reduction of the noise between floors in an apartment building in the future.
