The purpose of this research is to identify the motivation characteristics of English oil refining terms, the focus being on lexical units that entered the English terminological system in the mid-20th century as a result of active development of the oil refining industry. Special attention is paid to the concepts of inner form and motivation: key approaches to the definition of these phenomena are analysed, their essential properties are revealed, and the main types of term motivation are considered. The collected material included both motivated and unmotivated terms; however, unmotivated units remained outside the research scope. Methodological tools applied in this study are both general scientific and linguistic methods proper. In the course of the analysis, the conceptual areas containing the largest number of motivated terms were identified. Within the framework of semantic motivation, based on the conceptual metaphor theory, metaphorical models of industrial terms were reconstructed, and the most productive ones were named. When studying morphological motivation, a projection was made from the word-forming affixes of terms to the conceptual areas of technical knowledge expressed by them, and it was concluded that the information potential of the affixal and root segments, as well as the conceptual space of the term system, act as motivational attributes. In addition, we found prevalence of morphological motivation over semantic motivation. The results obtained can help us to understand the role of terms’ motivation in the verbalization of technical concepts, to further study the formation sources and development patterns of specialized vocabulary, as well as to streamline the oil refinery term system and harmonize the language for specific purposes.

Introduction. The modern legal system is unthinkable without the creation, transmission, exchange, movement of legal information. Indeed, the full cycle of legal development (from legal thinking to law enforcement) implies the perception, creation, change, transfer of legal information. Through legal influence a permanent and multidirectional movement of legal information is carried out, as well as its reflection in the legal consciousness of the subject and subsequent incarnation in behavior. The significance and role of legal influence is clearly manifested precisely in the fact that legal information, for example, contained in the text of the legal norm, being brought to the consciousness of a person, becomes an effective force directing and regulating the behavior of the subject.Materials and methods. Universal (philosophical), general scientific, private scientific (private law) methods of cognition were used in the research process, including dialectical, logical and formal-legal methods. The specificity of the subject of the study led to the use of information and systems approach.Results. The author formulates the definition of legal information as a set of information and other data that are presented in legal acts, regulatory and technical, reference and scientific materials, as well as legal information created and transmitted by subjects in the course of their interaction, which results in the streamlining of social relations of subjects. It is noted that legal information may be formal and informal.Discussion and conclusion. The author comes to the conclusion that the synergy of legal influence is the effect of increasing efficiency through the use of interconnection and mutual reinforcement of the «work» of different elements and components of legal influence based on the movement of legal information.

In this article, I argue that the medical conceptualization of gender identity in the United States has entered a “new regime of truth.” Drawing from a mixed-methods analysis of medical journals, I illuminate a shift in the locus of gender identity from external genitalia and pathologization of families to genes and brain structure and individualized self-conception. The sexed body itself has also undergone a transformation: Sex no longer resides solely in genitalia but has traveled to more visible parts of the body, implicating racialized aesthetic ideals in its new formulation. The re-imagining of gender identity as genetically and neurologically inscribed and the expanding locus of sex correspond to an inversion of the relationship between gender identity and the sexed body as well as shifts in medical jurisdiction. Whereas psychiatrists in the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s understood gender as stemming from genital sex, the less popular idea that gender identity precedes the sexed body has gained traction in recent decades. If gender identity once derived from the sexed body, the sexed body must now be brought into alignment with gender identity. The increasing legitimacy of self-defined gender identity, the expanding definition of racialized sex, and the inversion of the sex–gender identity relationship elevates the role of surgeons in producing racialized and sexed bodies.

The article presents an attempt to analyze the moral and ethical problems of modern society in the prose of Lyudin Boziev. The writer performed mainly in the genre of lyrical prose, so his "I" plays a significant role in his work. It also draws attention to the autobiography of his works, in which he reflected the feelings and thoughts of his generation – the "children of war"; the movement of time and the complexity of human relationships. The authors of the article connect the moral search of L. Boziev with the national character, which is changing intensively in the era of globalization. The relevance of the research topic is determined by its innovative nature, associated with the analysis of the unexplored works of the Kabardian prose writer. The purpose of the study is to identify the specifics of the artistic solution of moral and ethical problems in modern Kabardian prose based on the material of L. Boziev's novels "The Arrogant becomes Mean" and "The Road of Life". It is achieved by solving a set of tasks, including: the definition of the national and ethical origins of the concept of "morality", the study of the problems and poetics of the novels of L. Boziev, establishing their connection with the Adyghe mentality, identifying the problem of morality and the specifics of its artistic solution. The research involves a number of general scientific methods (generalization, analysis, synthesis, description). The results obtained can become a theoretical aid in the further study of the work of L. Boziev, as well as in determining the role of a bright creative personality in the evolution of artistic consciousness.

The paper proposes and defends the definition of the paradigm of scientific research in modern linguistics as evolutionary-informational-phenomenological science. The factors contributing to the appearance of such a term are given and substantiated. Among them is the transdisciplinary nature of modern scientific activity, centered around the need to reproduce a holistic picture of the world. As a result of this mode of modern scientific cognition, the very system of knowledge is complicated, which requires the transition of scientific ideas to the level of more abstract categories. Along with the established notions of methodology and theory, the term paradigm is more actively used. However, the case of the number and composition of modern paradigms of scientific knowledge still remains open, including in linguistics. The diversity of views on the linguistic paradigm is mainly limited to its three implementations: comparative-historical, system-structural, anthropocentric. However, it should be borne in mind that in the new civilizational and sociotechnical reality the role of linguistic science has radically and unprecedentedly changed, which has already adapted such concepts as evolutionary, informative, phenomenological. Theoretical rethinking of general scientific ideas about language, establishing close links between linguistics and global social and socio-technological processes occurring in the network-centric world, encourage the authors to qualify the modern linguistic paradigm as evolutionary-informational-phenomenological. Such approach provides an epistemological balance between empiricism and metaphysics, introduces the methodology of linguistics to the sciences close in principle to the scientific disciplines of nature

The subject of this research is the criminal law provisions on notes as a component of legislative technique and their importance for achieving such goals. The author explores the existing approaches towards the definition of the concept and essence of notes, as well as their classification. Special attention is given to the only note from the General Part of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – note to Article 73, which pertains to the institution of conviction record. The goal of this work is to determine the essence and importance of the note for the development of criminal law norms dedicated to the institution of conviction record. The methodological framework of this research is comprised on the general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, comparison), formal-legal and systematic methods, as well as the relevant case law. As a result, the author formulates the definition of the concept of notes, indicates its correlation with the criminal law norm, lists the basic types of notes used in criminal law, and describes their role. The analysis of the provisions of the Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and the notes to the Article 73 revealed the new problems in legislative regulation of suspended sentence and conviction records, which prompted the author to explore these issues and offer solutions. Clarification is given to the definition of “convicts” provided in the Paragraphs “a” and “a.1” of the Part 1 of the Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Substantiation is given to the role of convict record as a separate circumstance that prevents imposition of suspended sentence. The author indicates the fact of various interpretation of the concept of “crimes against sexual integrity of minors” mentioned in the note to the Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and in the construct of the qualifying element for a number of offences of the Article 18 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, as well as substantiates inexpediency of unification of this definition. The scientific novelty consists in proposing the new wording for the purposes of the Article 18 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which the author believes should be enshrined in the new note to the Article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Abstract. As the criticism of the definition of the phenotype (i.e., clinical diagnosis) represents the major focus of the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) initiative, it is somewhat surprising that discussions have not yet focused more on specific conceptual and procedural considerations of the suggested RDoC constructs, sub-constructs, and associated paradigms. We argue that we need more precise thinking as well as a conceptual and methodological discussion of RDoC domains and constructs, their interrelationships as well as their experimental operationalization and nomenclature. The present work is intended to start such a debate using fear conditioning as an example. Thereby, we aim to provide thought-provoking impulses on the role of fear conditioning in the age of RDoC as well as conceptual and methodological considerations and suggestions to guide RDoC-based fear conditioning research in the future.

The term ?business model' has recently attracted increased attention in the context of financial reporting and was formally introduced into the IFRS literature when IFRS 9 Financial Instruments was published in November 2009. However, IFRS 9 did not fully define the term ‘business model'. Furthermore, the literature on business models is quite diverse. It has been conducted in largely isolated fashion; therefore, no generally accepted definition of ?business model' has emerged. Therefore, a better understanding of the notion itself should be developed before further investigating its potential role within financial reporting. The aim of this paper is to highlight some of the perceived key themes and to identify other bases for grouping/organizing the literature based on business models. The contributions this paper makes to the literature are twofold: first, it complements previous review papers on business models; second, it contains a clear position on the distinction between the notions of the business model and strategy, which many authors identify as a key element in better explaining and communicating the notion of the business model. In this author's opinion, the term ‘strategy' is a dynamic and forward-looking notion, a sort of directional roadmap for future courses of action, whereas, ‘business model' is a more static notion, reflecting the conceptualisation of the company's underlying core business logic. The conclusion contains the author's thoughts on the role of the business model in financial reporting.

The advancement of European dress to the rest of the world was linked to the definition of civilization as “a stage of social development considered to be more advanced” and “polite and good-mannered”. The widespread of their fashion style in the 19th and 20th centuries influenced the way the rest of the world attire. The fashion trend and dressing style thus change the purpose of dressing through time. The dressing style in campuses especially in private institutions of higher learning is under particular scrutiny, as it is often said to be inappropriate for a learning environment. This study looked at the importance of moral education, and its role in implementing the dress code for students among university students especially between two types of university i.e. public university and private university. It looked on the dressing style of students, both male and female, and the factors that lead to their dressing pattern which is common among students. This study also advocated the students’ understanding of the content of dress codes in their learning institution and the role played by moral education in regard to dress code. The overall study highlighted students’ perception towards the implementation of the dress code and punishment in their learning institution. The methodologies used to carry out this study are questionnaires and interviews. This study will therefore ascertain the important of dress code among students at higher learning institution and the role of moral education in cultivating values in order to dress properly or decently. Key Words: moral education, dress code, higher learning institution, civilization.
