The article deals with the history and stages of development of family business in the years of independence of Uzbekistan. It describes the role of family business in the employment of the population on the basis of small business and entrepreneurship, the role of home-based work in the organization and development of youth and women’s labor, home crafts and the principle of “Every family is an entrepreneur.” In particular, the work on employment of women and youth through home-based work, their involvement in socially useful work is raising the economy of families to a certain extent.

The article reveals the development of women's entrepreneurship by increasing the activity of households in agriculture, the main directions of entrepreneurial activity and the role of entrepreneurship in increasing household income. Government policies, lending and incentives are discussed with the aim of expanding home entrepreneurship. The level of concessional loans provided to households by the central bank and commercial banks is considered in detail. The article describes the specifics of the system of financing of small business and entrepreneurship in the recent history of Uzbekistan, the funds allocated for small business and entrepreneurship, the activities of commercial banks and the financial and banking system, some problems in the field. It also noted that since the early days of independence, a unique business environment has been created in the country to support the interests of entrepreneurs in the framework of development programs in this area, data on the role of financial mechanisms in the further development of small business and entrepreneurship in the country have been studied from a historical point of view. The article highlights the positive situation in the country's macro and microeconomic indicators, ie the active participation of banks in attracting local entrepreneurs and foreign investment, the existing problems in this area and the measures taken to address them. It analyzes the important factors and strategies of banks' participation in the development of business and entrepreneurship.

In this paper we will consider the most relevant theoretical and practical aspects of the issue related to the problem of discrimination of women in Ukrainian labor law regarding their choice of profession. Vision of the role of men and women in society, their duties, prohibitions and rules were formed centuries ago, but such views have been reformed in accordance with the global development of society over the past decades. Scientific and technological progress has significantly improved the living conditions of people, including the process of working. However, the practice of countries applying restrictions on women's access to certain range of professions remains. In this regard, this article reflects the main aspects of the issue of limiting the opportunity of realizing women's labor abilities. Due attention is paid to gender-based occupational segregation, as well as gender discrimination at the legislative level. The reasons for implementing restrictions on women's access to certain professions are analyzed. The main factors that influenced the change in the position of the state on this issue are highlighted. The diametrically opposite positions and arguments on the issue of prohibition of certain types of work for women were investigated. The article examines the potential directions of state policy in the field of employment of women in heavy work and work with harmful and dangerous working conditions. The author concludes that the position of women and their status have changed which is due not only to legislative acts, political processes and achievements of scientific and technological progress, but also to changes that have taken place in the social consciousness.

PurposeKosovo is a transition country, and family businesses are seen as the best way to ensure its existence. The purpose of this paper is to determine the importance of beekeeping entrepreneurship in the country and the factors that affect entrepreneurship in this sector.Design/methodology/approachThis research was developed through a case presentation where interviews with beekeepers from different cities of Kosovo were conducted. Because this research was conducted during the pandemic situation COVID-19, a total of 32 beekeepers agreed to give interviews, of which 30 were males and 2 were females. The interviews were conducted from March to May 2020. All interviews were recorded to obtain all the relevant details during data processing. All respondents agreed that their names could be made public. The interviews were conducted in Albanian language, and their duration was from 32 min to 1 h and 40 min. The questionnaire for the interview in total contained 25 questions.FindingsBeekeeping in Kosovo runs entirely as a family business. Only 12 out of 32 respondents inherited the business from their families, while others started this business mostly out of curiosity. 59% of the respondents consider beekeeping as their primary income, while 32 percent as the only source of income. Only 9% of the respondents have less than 30 hives, and the beekeeping income does not have a big impact on their total income. Beekeeping is considered a dangerous business that forces beekeepers to have a second job. The most common risks are climate change and bee diseases. However, although they have a second job, their highest income derives from beekeeping. Education has the biggest role in the development of this business, while experience and technology do not play a significant role.Research limitations/implicationsThe number of respondents is small compared to the total number of beekeepers in Kosovo, so a larger number of beekeepers could give more accurate results. In addition, there is no general data on the impact of the beekeeping sector on the economy, especially on the role of this sector in reducing the unemployment rate.Originality/valueThe study adds value to the importance of artisan family businesses. Knowing the importance of family businesses, this study makes a great contribution to determining the factors that affect the development of beekeeping entrepreneurship as family business.

PurposeMany sport enterprises involve family members either as owners, employees or supporters, depending on the circumstances. Despite the embedded way families define and help to build sport enterprises, there is a lack of linkage in the academic literature between family business and sport entrepreneurship. The aim of this article is to understand the linkage in more detail by focusing on the way sport, family and entrepreneurship are embedded in society.Design/methodology/approachDue to the exploratory nature of the study, a qualitative approach was undertaken to understand the feelings and perceptions surrounding the process of sport entrepreneurship in family businesses.FindingsThe findings suggest that family businesses view the process of sport entrepreneurship as being context-dependent that relies on the interaction of family members for its success. This means that networking and co-creation are part of this process.Research limitations/implicationsAs the role of families in sport enterprises becomes more acknowledged, it is important that research keeps up-to-date with this trend. Thus, the findings of this article will help more family businesses with their sport-related ventures.Originality/valueThis article is the first to explicitly examine the linkage between family entrepreneurship and sport entrepreneurship, thereby paving the way for more research to examine this interesting research area.

The article analyzes the socio-political situation of women living in Uzbekistan, in particular, the decisions and decrees of the government on the creation of permanent jobs for women, as well as the development of family business, small business, home-based work, handicrafts, and horticulture. Statistics are provided on the organization of women's labor and their involvement in small business and entrepreneurship. The Action Strategy for the Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan analyzes the work being done on such important tasks as “Increasing the socio-political activity of women, strengthening their role in government and society, ensuring the employment of women, graduates of professional colleges, their broad involvement in entrepreneurial activities, further strengthening the family base”. It is noted that women engaged in entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan are under the personal attention of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The increase in the share of women employed in the economy is an example of their well-being, that the ranks of women entrepreneurs are growing, opening women's manufacturing enterprises, especially in various areas of women's entrepreneurship, the issue of creating new jobs for women has been pointed out on a scientific basis.

This  study  contributes  to  developing  our understanding of gender and family business. It draws on studies from the business history and management literatures and provides an interdisciplinary synthesis. It illuminates the role of women and their participation in the entrepreneurial practices of the family and the business. Leadership is introduced as a concept to examine the roles of women and men in family firms, arguing that concepts used  by  historians or economists like ownership and management have served to make women ‘invisible’, at least in western developed economies in which owners and managers have been historically due to legal rules  of  the  game  men,  and  minoritarily women. Finally, it explores gender relations and  the  notion  that  leadership  in  family business  may  take  complex  forms  crafte within constantly changing relationships.
