Critically reviews the process of the Islamization of knowledge as applied toward the discipline of economics over the last thirty years. One of the lacuna behind the not yet fully developed field of Islamic economics is the nondevelopment of its methodological aspects. This has been a result of narrowing the understanding of methodology to that of usul al-fiqh, which unfortunately has been limited to mean the legal sciences or jurisprudence. Since Islamic economics is a social/human science, the way forward is to develop an usul al-iqtisad, or methodology of social science, that may be quite different in its specific rule and criteria compared to the former. The author calls for revisiting the methodological aspect of the Faruqi work plan for the Islamization of knowledge, which has been overlooked and neglected.

We are excited to present you Volume 2 Issue 2 of Relay Journal published by the Research Institute of Learner Autonomy Education at Kanda University (KUIS), Japan. The Relay Journal aims to foster a dialogue spanning the globe discussing topics related to learner autonomy. This issue of Relay Journal is dedicated to teacher and advisor education for learner autonomy. The topic is particularly important, since –– apart from some exceptions –– autonomy is not always integrated into curricula for teacher education, and in addition, very few programmes exist for advisor education. Therefore, it is crucial to include opportunities for in-service professional development and reflection on how to foster autonomy and how to support language learners as teachers or as advisors. This can be done in the form of teacher training, mentoring and/or tutoring programmes, action-research, or reflection in- and on-practice.

Abstract: In the current study, we have tried to get an approximation of the ideal profile of high performance coaches in athletics. In the high-level sports world, the coach must develop the role of teacher, technician and leader,  which makes it difficult to delimit  his/her competencies (knowledge, skills and personal qualities). Therefore, the main motivation of this work is to define the role that the coach plays in relation  to the physical, technical, tactical, psychological and moral preparation of elite athletes. Keeping this aim as an objective, we have considered as the target population the high performance coaches who are active at the time of the investigation, since we were interested  in knowing their own perspective. The data that was collected is a part of a wider investigation, conducted by a survey, for which we designed a questionnaire of 78 questions divided on three topics: the profile of the coach and the athlete, as well as the figure of the coach educator in the Practicum. In this work, we focus on the first topic and the analysis of the information that we obtained allows us to conclude that almost all the track and field coaches find it necessary to dominate the technical and methodological aspects. They also consider that professional ethics must be governed by the principles of autonomy and care that values   like honesty and justice must prevail in the performance of their work.
