Despite the global efforts to eradicate poverty around the world, avoid exists in the literature examining the role of effective strategic partnership between universities and Zakat institutions as a core social protection provider in the Muslim world. This paper contributes to the literature in this area by assessing the prevailing patterns of collaboration between Zakat organizations and universities. The main objective is two folds; first, by appraising their potentialities, it establishes common interests that focus on shared goals and objectives; ethics and values; and networks and processes. The second, is to propose strategic partnership framework. The proposed strategic partnership framework will increase penetration and outreach by bridging knowledge gap, better targeted social protection components and improving communication and networks. The adoption of the framework will change how these institutions approach their goals and respond to community pressures providing variety of differentiated products and services to reduce poverty.

The Conclusion reviews the volume’s major themes. Russia and China have common interests that cement their partnership, and are key players in shaping the international order. Both seek better relations with the West, but on the basis of “mutual respect” and “equality.” While the relationship has grown deeper, particularly since 2014, China and Russia are partners but not allies. Thus, their relationship is marked by burgeoning cooperation, but still areas of potential competition and friction. Russia in particular must deal with China’s growing relative power at the same time that it is isolated from the West. While the Russian–Chinese relationship creates challenges for the United States and Europe and a return of major power rivalry, there is also room for cooperation in the strategic triangle comprising China, Russia, and the West. Looking ahead, the world is in a period of dramatic transition.

Studies have been conducted focusing on the role of trust, integrity, and reputation on the image and reputations of Islamic charities. But, these are not the only challenges faced by contemporary Waqf. While the world outside the Waqf institutions has changed, Awqaf are stuck in centuries-old procedures and management practices. This must change for Awqaf to be up to the challenges of modern world. This work focuses on proposing a mechanism that explains how possible it is for Awqaf to improve their image given their unique features and environment. The process through which Waqf improves its relationship with stakeholders such as donors, beneficiaries, and government is as important as other aspects of Waqf operation that have been traditionally covered by scholars. The methodology followed for conducting this work is mainly literature review and critical analysis of the state of Waqf in the Muslim world. Thus, the work is a deductive analysis in Islamic economics and marketing, borrowing from Islamic and conventional fields of marketing and branding.

The literature on social protection in Latin America – and more specifically on Conditional Cash Transfers (CCTs) – is substantial and growing as, increasingly, more academics from around the world seem to be attracted to social policy developments in the region and the role of CCTs in these developments. As the articles in our themed section cite many of the key sources on particular aspects of CCTs, we chose in this guide to highlight those sources we consider essential for any academic interested to investigate CCTs and, more broadly, the development of social policies in Latin America for research or teaching purposes.

Abstract Romania is the EU Member State with the highest numbers of emigrants, according to Eurostat. The annual growth of the Romanian diaspora is one of the fastest in the world, and quite recent (over the past 20 years). In light of these developments, the institutional network for engagement with Romanians abroad, first established in the mid-1990s, has recently increased in an attempt to respond to the fast-growing Romanian diaspora. A Ministry entirely dedicated to maintaining the relations with the Romanian diaspora was formally institutionalized 10 years after Romania officially joined the EU in 2017, replacing scattered departments and institutional bodies. However, the role of the recently set up diaspora institutions still needs to be clarified and firmly determined. Policies were developed with the goal of ensuring the integration of Romanian citizens in their countries of residence, but also to encourage return to Romania. In particular, as few other European diaspora populations, the Romanian diaspora is represented in the Romanian Parliament by two Senators and four Deputies who represent the interests of three to five million Romanians abroad.

The paper analyzes the means of forming intangible values among adolescents at the age of 14 to 18 years. In this regard, special attention is paid to the content of the concept of “value” and the peculiari-ties of its interpretation by scientists in the field of philosophy, psychology and pedagogy. The role of the teacher, the environment, and the family in the formation of axiological priorities in adolescents is established. At the same time, their influence on the spiritual and moral sphere of children is carried out both separately and comprehensively from the per-spective of a single and consistent system of educa-tion. It is noted that fine arts have highly effective means for influencing teenagers’ picture of the world of values. In particular, the author emphasizes the relevance of using modern media tools, the In-ternet and social networks in the system of addi-tional education, which provide teenagers with the opportunity for self-realization and self-improvement. It is argued that the use of technolog-ical progress in the organization of fine arts signifi-cantly increases their effectiveness and contributes to the achievement of creative and educational goals and objectives, including the formation of a system of adolescents’ spiritual and moral values.

The article deals with the specific character of the archetype of home in the novel “The House of Doctor Dee” by P. Ackroyd. The novel of the English writer tells the story of the fate of the famous alchemist and scientist of the 16th century, Doctor John Dee and modern researcher Matthew Palmer. The purpose of the article is to determine the specific character of the archetype of home in the novel “The House of Doctor Dee” by P. Ackroyd in an individually-authored interpretation. The classical understanding of home is a connection with the family, generation, protection and support, shelter and spiritual comfort. In the second half of the 20th century the archetype of home is significantly problematic. “Home” ceases to be perceived as an exclusively “private” locus, even if it has absorbed all the wealth of the souls of its inhabitants, additional inclusions appear, most often of an existential universal plan. The literature of the postmodern era with its “sensitivity” to the world around it, i.e. with the desire to outline the problems of a wide range (philosophical, historical and others), continues to include “home” in the complex context of life. In this regard, P. Ackroyd’s novel “The House of Doctor Dee”, in which mysticism and reality are intertwined together, is of particular interest. The house of Doctor Dee seems to Matthew full of mystical phenomena and becomes a centre, including different time layers. The house in the novel “The House of Doctor Dee” by P. Ackroyd loses archetypal characteristics at all levels (despite the fact that Matthew is changing his attitude to his adoptive mother), from psychological (strong family ties, attention, understanding) to physical and social (protection, stability). All the fundamental mythological motifs of stability, which usually characterize the archetype of the house – the symbolic constancy of the place, the important role of higher female and male creatures (parents, teachers) as a kind of “good guardians” and mentors, the presence of children as a bastion of eternal renewal – are subjected to internal and external corrosion, destruction, and make the idea of returning home impossible. In addition, the house itself acquires the features of the homunculus, it disintegrates and reborn, but in each century in its own way.

The goal of this volume is to reconsider citizenship, integration, and diversity in the context of heightened mobility and permanent impermanence, where large numbers of migrants are long-term partial members of their societies of origin and settlement. Although cultural institutions are often sites where these categories are (re) negotiated, they are often left out of the scholarly conversation. In the first part of this chapter, I explore how one type of cultural institution—museums—are responding to immigration and globalization around the world. I ask if and how they are changing notions of citizenship, nationhood, and pluralism. The second half looks at new forms of transnational social protection that arise in response to the current world on the move.
