The subjects were the eleventh year students with the population of 72 students. 72 students were chosen as the sample and group into experimental and control group. Each group consisted of 36 students. The experimental group was taught with de bono model while the control one was taught without De bono model. A writing test was used to collect the data on the students’ writing achievement. The data collected were analyzed by using t-test. The result of the data analysis showed that the t-observed was 7,24. It was higher that the value of t-table (tt) is 1,66 for 5% and 2,38 for 1%. This meant that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that there is effect of De Bono model on students writing descriptive text of 2018/2019 eleventh year students of SMA yayasan pendidikan harapan bangsa kuala kabupaten langkat.Keyword: Writing, Descriptive text, De Bono model, Six thinking hats

This research is aimed to find out the effect of definitions toward students’ vocabulary mastery: it was an experimental study at the second grade student of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang- sayang. The subject of this research was the second grade of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang- sayang. The research was used experimental method with quantitative approach. The population of this research consist of 55 students, and the sample is 29 for experimental group while 26 for control group. The technique of collecting data was used definition for experimental group and matching word with antonym for control group. The data was collected by using post-test only and the data was analyzed by t-test formula. Based on data analysis the mean score of experimental group was 76,4 and control group was 69,23, beside of that standard deviation for experimental group was 114,28 and for control group was 113,09 and the value of t-test was 2,44 and t-table was 2,000. Degree of freedom is 53 with significant level 0,05. It means that the value of t-test was higher than t-table (t-test ˃ t-table). The alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Thus, the conclusion of this research was there was an effect of definition toward students’ vocabulary mastery: an experimental study at the second grade students of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang-sayang.

This study is aimed to find out whether Examples Non Examples method significantly effects the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. This study was an experimental design. The population of the study was grade VIII of SMP Swasta Siti Hajar. There were two classes as the sample and each class consisted of 30 students. The classes were divided into two groups, namely Experimental and Control group. Experimental group was the class taught by applying Examples Non Examples method, while Control was taught without using Examples Non Examples method. In this study, writing test was used as the instrument of collecting the data. Both experimental and control group were asked to write descriptive paragraph in pre-test and post-test. The data obtained were analyzed statistically by t-test formula. The result got that t-observed (t-obs) is higher than t-table (2.64 > 2.042) at the level significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and Examples Non Examples method significantly effects students’ achievement in writing descriptive text.

The objective of the study is to discover the effect of applying Discussion Strategy on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. The study was conducted by using experimental research design. The samples were taken by using random technique through lottery and two out of 7 classes were taken into samples, X-1 as experimental group was taught Discussion Strategy and X-3 as control group was taught Conventional Strategy, each class has 30 students. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. After analyzing the data, it was found that the value of t0 (3,561) with the degree of freedom (df)=58 at the level of significance p (0,05) = 2,004. It means that t0 was considerably higher than tt (3,561 > 2,004). The result showed that Discussion Strategy had a significant effect on students’ writing achievement. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

This is an attempt to discover the effect of applying the Group Investigation Technique on the students’ achievement in writing descriptive texts. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the second (VIII) grade students of SMPS Dharma Patra Pangkalan Berandan. There were one- hundred and ninety students involved as the population. Which consists of five parallel classes, two classes out of five classes was chosen as the sample by using lottery technique namely experimental and control group. The result was class VIII-A consisted of 15 students became the experimental group and class VIII-B consisted of 15 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by using Group Investigation Technique while the control group was taught by do not using the treatment. The instrument for collecting the data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result shows that the value of t-observed (5,85) is higher than the value of t-table (2.048) ( α = 0.05 ) with the degree of freedom (df) = 28. It means that there is a significant effect of applying Group Investigation Technique on the students’ achievement in writing descriptive texts. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

This quasi-experimental study involves the experimental and control group which consist of 60 students in first year of SMA Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang   2019/2020 academic year.  The reading test is used to collect data to find out do the students can achieve significant result in reading test using Text-based Character. Based on the result the mean score of the experimental group pre-test was 72.67 and classified into good classification, while the control group was 69.63 classified into good. The mean score of the post-test after treatment for the experimental group was 82.43 (very good) while the control group was 76.53, (good) classification still.  The researcher found that the T-table is higher than the t-test (α) (1.659<2.021). It means that there is a significant difference in the pre-test of the control and experimental group, while in post-test of an experimental and control group, the researcher finds that the T-test is higher than the alpha and previous score in the the pre-test (α) (3.089>2.021). The degree of freedom is 58. This study reveals that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This is means that the use of Text-based Characters can improves students' reading skills in significant way.

English Environment Programs is one of method In Improving Speaking Ability At Polytechnic of National Informatics. This research aims at finding out wheather or not the use of English environment Programs improve the speaking ability. This research used Quasy experimental method with two group pre-test and post-test design. The result of the data analysis showed that the degree of freedom (df) was 43 (n1 + n2 – 2) where n1 = 30 and n2 = 15 so 30 + 15 – 2 = 43), the level of significant (α) = 0.05, the t-test value of students’ speaking ability= 3.765, and the t-table value = 2.021. The t-test value is greater than the t-table value (3.765 > 2.021), this showed that there is a significant difference of improvement between the Control group and Experimental Group. It means that the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) is accepted while the Null Hypothesis (H0) rejected. Based on the result above, the researcher concluded that the using of English Environment Programs can improve the speaking ability of the second year students of Polytechnic of National InformaticsKeywords: English Environment, Speaking, Effectiveness
