Abstract Due to the vast ocean area and limited human and material resources, hydrographic survey must be carried out in a selective and well-planned way. Therefore, scientific planning of hydrographic surveys to ensure the effectiveness of navigational charts has become an urgent issue to be addressed by the hydrographic office of each coastal state. In this study, a reasonable calculation model of hydrographic survey cycle is established, which can be used to make the plan of navigational chart updating. The paper takes 493 navigational charts of Chinese coastal ports and fairways as the research object, analyses the fundamental factors affecting the hydrographic survey cycle and gives them weights, proposes to use the BP neural network to construct the relationship between the cycle and the impact factors, and finally establishes a calculation model of the hydrographic survey cycle. It has been verified that the calculation cycle of the model is effective, and it can provide reference for hydrographic survey planning and chart updating, as well as suggestions for navigation safety.

Purpose The operation safety of the high-speed railway has been widely concerned. Due to the joint influence of the environment, equipment, personnel and other factors, accidents are inevitable in the operation process. However, few studies focused on identifying contributing factors affecting the severity of high-speed railway accidents because of the difficulty in obtaining field data. This study aims to investigate the impact factors affecting the severity of the general high-speed railway. Design/methodology/approach A total of 14 potential factors were examined from 475 data. The severity level is categorized into four levels by delay time and the number of subsequent trains that are affected by the accident. The partial proportional odds model was constructed to relax the constraint of the parallel line assumption. Findings The results show that 10 factors are found to significantly affect accident severity. Moreover, the factors including automation train protection (ATP) system fault, platform screen door and train door fault, traction converter fault and railway clearance intrusion by objects have an effect on reducing the severity level. On the contrary, the accidents caused by objects hanging on the catenary, pantograph fault, passenger misconducting or sudden illness, personnel intrusion of railway clearance, driving on heavy rain or snow and train collision against objects tend to be more severe. Originality/value The research results are very useful for mitigating the consequences of high-speed rail accidents.

Context: Insomnia is prevalent among elderly individuals and has become a public health problem receiving increasing concern. Low sleep quality is related to a number of negative health outcomes. Objective: This research aims to investigate the sleep status of community-dwelling elderly individuals (aged 60 years or older) in Shanghai, China, to explore the impact factors affecting sleep quality. Methods: One street in Shanghai city was randomly selected, and 50% of the elderly residents were randomly selected as participants for a total number of 9,616 people. Investigations were conducted by indoor surveys through home doctors and paper questionnaires. For statistical analysis, univariate and multivariate regression analysis and the Spearman correlation model were performed using SAS 9.4 to analyze the effects of the impact factors on the sleep quality of elderly individuals. Results: Sleep quality is greatly affected by physical pain in both the elderly individual and the individual’s spouse. Healthy elderly people tend to have better sleep quality, and the more chronic diseases an elderly individual suffers, the worse their sleep quality is. In addition, the physical pain of a cohabiting spouse is one of the most significant impact factors influencing sleep quality. Conclusion: We suggest that community-dwelling elderly people maintain moderate outdoor activities and a healthy mental state, which will improve their sleep quality.

ABSTRACT. The state of normal human life, which is characterized by the general notion of «Health», includes a combination of indicators of physical, mental and social well-being, and, in turn, is determined by a whole set of factors. Among them, along with medical and biological, undoubtedly important role is played by environmental factors. The region of Eastern Ukraine, firstly — Donetsk and Lugansk regions, in this regard can't be recognized as prosperous. A significant degree of anthropogenic transformation of the natural environment of this industrially developed region, which was formed over decades, has increased considerably during the military actions of recent years [1, 2]. Accordingly, the need to restore constitutional order and ensure worth living conditions for Ukrainian citizens includes, along with political, economic and social vectors, the task of optimizing natural ecological systems. It should be noted that the consequences of the impact of military actions on the natural environment in conflict zones, with all its specificity, have a number of similar features, for example, with man-made transformations that are noted in mining regions [3, 4]. These are, first of all, local and large-scale transformations of the landscape, disturbance of soil cover, partial or complete destruction of plant communities, impoverishment of fauna, and, as a result, the destabilization of ecosystems due to the violation of ecological relations that ensure their structural and functional organization and natural mechanisms of their self-regulation [5, 6]. In this context, the very urgent and demanded for the conflict zone is the implementation of various environmental technologies tested for solving similar problems in anthropogenically transformed territories. In particular, the scientific and practical developments of the Institute for Nature Management Problems and Ecology of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (INMPE of NAS of Ukraine, Dnipro) [7–10] have a considerable interest in the following main areas. Key Words: Ecological destabilization, Ecological rehabilitation, Post-war territories, Environmental technologies, Ecological management, Landscape, Ecosystems.

Preventing losses and reducing possible hazards is the most urgent and important task in mining. Implementation of this task occurs throughout the entire life cycle of mining production, starting from the development of project documentation and ending with the stage of modernization or liquidation of spent mining production. For mining production as a dangerous production facility [1], it is necessary to develop a modern methodology for risk assessment, accident identification for subsequent analysis, development and implementation of measures to reduce it in the production process. To solve this problem, the most promising method is the analysis of technogenic risk, which must be developed in relation to mining facilities. methods and means of mining. Mineral resources are part of the natural environment, the impact on the natural environment is provided by technical equipment and technological processes necessary for the extraction of minerals [2]. For risk analysis, mining production must be represented as a complex system consisting of the following subsystems: natural; technological; technical; organizational, social, psychological, etc. This study examines natural and technological risks. For each subsystem, factors affecting the probability of accidents and the amount of expected damage are analyzed, and then measures to reduce the risk are proposed. Risk assessment should be part of a comprehensive approach to business management. A systematic and comprehensive approach to risk assessment will allow you to take possible measures to eliminate (reduce) the risk. A systematic approach to risk assessment helps to prevent losses and improve safety in the mining industry by taking better account of possible situations, identifying those responsible for the risk, prioritizing the urgency of execution, and evaluating the risk justification scale.

The article discusses the possibilities of using semantic technologies in the development of an intelligent information system to support energy and socio-environmental research. The use of the proposed knowledge management technology makes it possible to integrate research in different subject areas. The authors refer to the semantic technologies as the traditional ontological representation of knowledge and the cognitive approach, which allows formalizing the processes of making expert decisions. The use of ontologies is proposed to describe the knowledge of subject areas of interdisciplinary energy and socio-ecological research related to assessing the impact of energy on the quality of life. Ontologies make it possible to agree on terminology between researchers and are used to describe and structure knowledge and required information. Cognitive modeling is used to support researchers in the decision-making process, identify and describe cause-and-effect relationships between the main concepts of the subject area, and visualize possible situations. The paper describes the components of the ontological space of knowledge for the implementation of joint energy and socio-ecological studies of the impact of energy on the environment and quality of life. Examples of an ontology, a cognitive map, and a variant of the developed data model for designing a database for research are given.

In the article, the author analyzes the impact of factors affecting the global financial system in the payment sphere. The analysis is based on a comparison of the set of impact factors, as noted in the materials of the World Economic Forum, with trends in the development of payment infrastructure. We show the manifestation of this influence in various aspects and properties, both for separate payment systems, and the payment sphere as a whole. The author notes that not only regulation based on international standards, but also changes in market conditions and technological innovations have a significant impact on the development of payment systems of central banks. The impact of factors in the Russian national payment system (NPS) and the role of the Bank of Russia are revealed. The author concludes that the degree of influence of the factors manifested in the implementation of planned and possible measures for the development of the NPS can be estimated by the dynamics of growth (deviation) of the share of payment traffic carried out in significant payment infrastructures. Quantitative indicators of the NPS development, presented in terms of factors and related activities affecting the global financial system, make it possible to assess the degree of mutual influence.
