This article reveals the pedagogical concept of “teaching methodˮ – one of the key concepts of didactics, a kind of synthesis of the most important components of the educational process: goals, content, principles, forms of teaching, and educational functions. The role of teaching methods used for new experimental course Mathematical Linguistics, is still a truly unexplored sector of Pedagogy. Based on modern requirements for teaching methods, we can distinguish three types of teaching and, accordingly, its three structures that historically evolved in the process of social development. There are three types of educational process in a modern school, and each of them should be considered as a subsystem of a single classroom system: informational-reporting, explanatory-illustrative and problem-solving. Since the founding of the school, scientists have noticed that a large number of teachers and students’ activities are used during a lesson. They were called teaching methods. The first attempts to identify teaching methods were related to the forms of their recognition, which developed a basis for teaching method classification. Problem-solving method of teaching means the interconnected activity of a teacher and students, which is built on the logic of problem setting with the following search for its solution and aimed at the “discoveryˮ of new knowledge, skills, and abilities by students themselves. One of the main functions of problem-solving method is the formation of students’ independent thinking, development of their creativity. In order to prepare students to creative activity, it is necessary to involve them in independent problem solving process, searching for solutions and making creative decisions. Keywords: teaching method, problem-solving method, problem situation, role play, collective research, dispute, hypothesis.

The primary task of the 21st century education is not anymore to transfer continuous information, but the skill to acquire independently and learn this knowledge during lifetime. In the future, the development of transversal skills plays an important role in the educational process. Transversal skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving, creativity and innovation, self-guided learning, cooperation, civic participation and digital literacy, are raised in the framework of Education Reform in Latvia (Skola 2030, 2017). The beginning of the learning process during the stage of primary school is an essential step in transversal skills acquisition, particularly emphasizing the impact of the Classes 1-3 stage, on the further learning process. According to the outcomes determined in the standard of primary education to be achieved, it is necessary to develop significantly transversal skills in this stage, as well as observe carefully the changes in children’s age development that affect the possibilities of transversal skills development. The goal of the research:  analyse the development of transversal skills in primary school (Classes 1-3).Research method: content analysis of the education content regulating documents and scientific literature.

The paper deals with analysis, generalisation and systematisation of the European experience in the field of digital transformation of education. Nowadays, when a digital society is being built, digital transformation is becoming the basis for the world economic development. This leads to a rapid change in the professions being in demand in the employment market and, consequently, the professional requirements for the qualification framework, competences in particular. Thus, educational activities require updating the content and methods of teaching, finding innovative forms of learning, expanding the access to educational resources, implementing learning opportunities without restrictions on the bases of space and time, introducing new approaches to the organisation of educational services in general. The purpose of this study is to analyse and systematise the European experience in the field of the digital transformation of education, outlining some ways to use it for transforming the education in Ukraine. The main research methods used are as follows: a systematic analysis of regulatory, scientific, and methodological sources on the digital transformation of education in European countries, the study of the methodological tools to support teachers in the development of a digital society. For the digital transformation of education, it is necessary to take a number of important steps which include: the development of normative initiatives by the state to ensure the regulatory framework enabling the transformation of education; the modernisation of educational systems, the updating of the content of school and university education; training and retraining of teachers, taking into consideration the increasing proficiency level of their digital skills and competences. The paper presents in detail how these steps are implemented in the EU. Based on the analysed sources, we can come to these conclusions: in Europe, the conditions facilitating an increase in pedagogues’ proficiency in terms of digital competences have been created; the tools aimed at supporting their activities have been developed, which contributes to the digital transformation of education in general. Ukraine has also recognised the digital transformation as a priority policy for the development of the digital economy and the emergence of a digital society as a whole. To ensure a quality educational process, the modern education system of Ukraine needs changes. The digitalisation of all levels of education, and, in the future, their digital transformation appear to be important steps in this respect.
