The purpose of this study is to analyse the environmental supportive administrative services provided by principals for effective classroom management in public and private secondary schools in Anambra State. One research question and one null hypothesis guided the study. It was a descriptive study conducted in Anambra state covering the six education zones in the state. A total of 15,990 respondents constituted the population for the study. A sample of 852 teachers was used. The instrument for data collection is a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers. The questionnaire was duly validated by experts who are lecturers. The reliability of the instrument was also established. Cronbach alpha statistic was used to determine reliability which gave the reliability coefficient of 0.81. The instrument was administered on the respondents directly by the researchers who assisted by six research assistants. Out of 852 copies of the questionnaire distributed, 850 copies were correctly filled, retrieved and subjected to statistical analysis. The data were analyzed using mean ratings to answer the research question and t- test to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. Findings indicated that, in public secondary schools, adequate workshops are not provided as part of environmental supportive administrative services for effective classroom management. Accordingly, it was among others recommended that government should organize workshops for secondary schools on environmental supportive administrative services.

This study sought to determine the relationship between the work environment and sportsmanship of telecommunication companies in Port Harcourt. A research question and hypothesis were formulated in directing the framework of the study. Data was collected through a Primary source using a well-structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics were adopted for analysis of research question and testing of hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that the work environment of telecommunication businesses in Port Harcourt is favorably and strongly related to sportsmanship. Conclusively, an appropriate work environment is absolutely the number one fashion of every company. Sportsmanship cannot function effectively in an obsolete work environment. The physical setting/structure, job description, culture, and market conditions all contribute to the work environment. It is suggested that organizations create an environment that encourages good employee sportsmanship; organizations should pay salary as at when due, to enable employee sportsmanship; additional reward to an employee with sportsmanship should be included in the organizational policy and further training should be encouraged in the organization as a means of advancing the spirit of sportsmanship amongst employee.

School teachers can experience stress at work and outside of work for a variety of reasons. This study investigated workplace stress and perceived strategies that school leaders use in handling work-related stressors in secondary schools in Anambra state. A descriptive survey research design was used for the study. A total of 1,180 teachers were chosen from a population of 6,887 secondary school teachers. The data collection instrument is a questionnaire separated into three sub-sections: A, B, and C. The data was gathered by delivering the test instruments directly to the respondents, and the data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics. Means and standard deviations were used to answer research questions 1 and 2, while percentages were used to answer research question 3. The results indicated among others, that majority of study respondents choose “improved career development” as their top perceived approach that school principals use in handling teachers' work-related stressors. Based on the study, the researcher suggests that school principals strive to incorporate long-term preventive stress control strategies that improve teachers' mental wellness and well-being, such as exploring professional and family support and counselling. Descriptive design of the survey type was adopted and a stratified random sampling was used to select 12 schools, which were 6 public and 6 private secondary schools, involving 132 participants who included 120 teachers and 12 principals. A self-constructed questionnaire titled “Teachers’ Workload and Student’s Academic Performance Questionnaire” (TWSAPQ), was administered. Five (5) hypotheses were tested using Pearson’s product moment correlation (PPMCC) and T-test at p<0.05 level of significance. The results showed that there was a negative correlation between teachers’ workload and students’ academic performance (r-cal= -0.420), and a disparity between teachers’ actual workload and workload policy standard (t-cal=27.219), also there was significant difference in teachers’ workload between public and private secondary schools (t-cal=2.364). The findings indicated that teachers’ workload is high in teaching activities (75.8%), data imputation (62.5%), and marking of students’ scripts (76.7%), .and impacted negatively on teachers’ instructional tasks performance and students’ academic performance. It is hereby recommended that the State Government and proprietors of private secondary schools should employ adequate number of qualified teachers to meet the workload standard for effective teaching, while learning facilities should be upgraded to enhance workload implementation and improve students’ academic performance in secondary schools.

This study sought to determine teachers level of awareness and usage of non-violent strategies/interventions for the maintenance of discipline in secondary schools in Anambra State, Nigeria. Corporal punishment has become an unwritten sine qua non for the maintenance of school discipline - often the first thought that comes to the minds of teachers in treating acts of indiscipline and deviance. From the Nnewi Education Zone, comprising four local government areas (LGAs), 200 teachers were selected for descriptive survey out of 996 teachers. Stratified random sampling was used such that the schools were stratified into co-educational and single-sex schools, and from each randomly selected school, 10 teachers were selected. Two research questions and four null hypotheses guided this study, and questionnaire was used to collect data. The mean was used to answer the research questions and t-test for the hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance. The study recommended in-service training for teachers in educational psychology, particularly behaviour modification methods, parental input and interest in school discipline as well as the cessation of corporal punishment among others.
