Mathematical model describing signal transduction between neurons has been presented using the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The Cauchy problem for the given system has been solved numerically and system parameters were adjusted to match the results of experimental measurements of extracellular postsynaptic potentials in rat hippocampus slices. While fitting model to the experimental data some values of synaptic parameters have been determined.

The paper regards the impact of four different turbulence models on the air flow pattern in a confined rectangular space. The following approaches are analyzed. The Baseline (BSL) Reynolds model, the Speziale-Sarkar-Gatzki (SSG) Reynolds model, the Menter's shear-stress transport (SST) model and the basic k-ε model. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results are compared with the experimental measurements in four different planes. The Reynolds number for the given conditions is equal to 5000. The k-ε model yielded the most accurate results with regard to the experimental data but its reliability decreased near the wall region. With respect to the other models, it was also found that the k-ε approach generated the least circulating flow.

The solubilities of cesium dianilinetetraisothiocyanatochromate(III) in water as well as in aqueous methanol, isopropyl alcohol, tert-butyl alcohol and acetonitrile were measured as a function of temperature and solvent composition. The Gibbs energies, enthalpies and entropies of transfer of the salt from water to the given solvents have been evaluated from experimental data. The contribution of [Cr(C6H5NH2)2(NCS)4]- ion to the Gibbs energy of transfer of the investigated salt has been calculated using the tetraphenylarsonium tetraphenylborate (TATB) reference electrolyte assumption.

Abstract This paper deals with the experimental study of dynamic transmission error of a gear pair. Two aspects of the experiment are discussed : 1) design of the test facility and data acquisition system and 2) comparison of transmission error and load distribution with experimental data. Several gears were tested under varying misalignments. A prediction program LDP (Load distribution Program) was used for theoretical calculations of dynamic transmission error.

The charged particles produced in nucleus–nucleus collisions come from leading particles and those frozen out from the hot and dense matter created in collisions. The leading particles are conventionally supposed having Gaussian rapidity distributions normalized to the number of participants. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to the unified hydrodynamics, a hydro model which unifies the features of Landau and Hwa–Bjorken model, and freeze out into charged particles from a time-like hypersurface with a proper time of [Formula: see text]. The rapidity distribution of this part of charged particles can be derived analytically. The combined contribution from both leading particles and unified hydrodynamics is then compared against the experimental data performed by BNL-RHIC-PHOBOS Collaboration in different centrality Cu–Cu collisions at [Formula: see text] and 62.4[Formula: see text]GeV, respectively. The model predictions are consistent with experimental measurements.

For through-silicon optical probing of microprocessors, the heat generated by devices with power over 100W must be dissipated [1]. To accommodate optical probing, a seemingly elaborate cooling system that controls the microprocessor temperature from 60 to 100° C for device power up to 150W was designed [2]. The system parameters to achieve the desired thermal debug environment were cooling air temperature and air flow. A mathematical model was developed to determine both device temperature and input power. The 3-D heat equation that governs the temperature distribution was simplified to a case of a 1-D rod with one end at the device center and the other at the cooling air intake. Thus the cooling system was reduced to an analytical expression. From experimental data, we computed all coefficients in the model, then ran extensive tests to verify—the accuracy was better than 10% over the entire temperature and power ranges.

The article deals with the creation of a program for stopping an autonomous robotic vehicle Robotino® 4. generation at a defined distance from an obstacle. One of the nine infrared distance sensors located on the frame of the robotic vehicle in the front part of the frame is used for this application task. The infrared distance sensor characteristic is created from the measured experimental data, which is then linearized in the given section. The main aim of the experiment is to find such an equation of a line that corresponds to the stopping of a robotic vehicle with a given accuracy from an obstacle. The determined equation of the line is applied to the resulting program for autonomous control of the robotic vehicle. This issue is one of the many tasks performed by AGV in the industry. The introduction of AGVs into the industry is one of the many possibilities within Industry 4.0.

The extended introduction in this paper reviews the theoretical modelling of leading- and trailing-edge noise, various bioinspired aerofoil adaptations to both the leading and trailing edges of blades, and how these adaptations aid in the reduction of aerofoil–turbulence interaction noise. Attention is given to the agreement between current theoretical predictions and experimental measurements, in particular, for turbulent interactions at the trailing edge of an aerofoil. Where there is a poor agreement between theoretical models and experimental data the features neglected from the theoretical models are discussed. Notably, it is known that theoretical predictions for porous trailing-edge adaptations do not agree well with experimental measurements. Previous works propose the reason for this: theoretical models do not account for surface roughness due to the porous material and thus omit a key noise source. The remainder of this paper, therefore, presents an analytical model, based upon the acoustic analogy, to predict the far-field noise due to a rough surface at the trailing edge of an aerofoil. Unlike previous roughness noise models which focus on roughness over an infinite wall, the model presented here includes diffraction by a sharp edge. The new results are seen to be in better agreement with experimental data than previous models which neglect diffraction by an edge. This new model could then be used to improve theoretical predictions for far-field noise generated by turbulent interactions with a (rough) porous trailing edge. By setting contact sets, achieved overall analysis results of the mechanical properties with omni-direction side-loading forklift truck lifting system based on COSMOSWorks. And made an experimental measurements to omni-direction side-loading forklift truck lifting system by electrometric methods. There was a good relevance between experimental data and calculation values, and the deviation was basically within the 10 percent allowed. Finally, in this way it verified the correctness and reliability of the finite element analysis by experimental measurements. Ensured the omni-direction side-loading forklift truck lifting system could be safe and efficient to work. And also it laid a foundation for subsequent structural optimization.
