In this paper, we propose a new accuracy measurement model for the video stabilization method based on background motion that can accurately measure the performance of the video stabilization algorithm. Undesired residual motion present in the video can quantitatively be measured by the pixel by pixel background motion displacement between two consecutive background frames. First of all, foregrounds are removed from a stabilized video, and then we find the two-dimensional flow vectors for each pixel separately between two consecutive background frames. After that, we calculate a Euclidean distance between these two flow vectors for each pixel one by one, which is regarded as a displacement of each pixel. Then a total Euclidean distance of each frame is averaged to get a mean displacement for each pixel, which is called mean displacement error, and finally we calculate the average mean displacement error. Our experimental results show the effectiveness of our proposed method.

This research aimed to discover a model of assessment that could measure kinesthetic intelligence in arranging a dance from several related variable, both direct variable and indirect variable. The research method used was a qualitative method using path analysis to determine the direct and indirect variable; therefore, the dominant variable that supported the measurement model of kinesthetic intelligence in arranging dance could be discovered. The population used was the students of the art of dance department and were chosen by using purposive sampling technique so that the kinesthetic intelligence could be well measured. The result of this research was that the correlation between the ability in perceiving movement and the ability in conveying movement was 3.8048. The correlation between the ability in perceiving movement and kinesthetic intelligence was 0.3137. The correlation between the ability in perceiving movement and arranging a dance was -0.3751. The correlation between conveying movement and kinesthetic intelligence was 0.1333. The correlation between conveying movement and arranging a dance was -0.2399. The correlation between kinesthetic intelligence and arranging a dance was 0.8529. These result proved that kinesthetic intelligence has significant influence to the ability in arranging a dance. It could be concluded that a smart assessment model of kinesthetic intelligence in arranging a dance that was needed should measure the kinesthetic intelligence first while the ability to perceive and convey movement became the supporting element to strengthen the kinesthetic intelligence in arranging a dance.

Purpose In the current knowledge-based economy era, national innovation ability is crucial. Abundant information can be obtained through patent analysis, and such information can help in the formulation of policies and the making of R&D decisions; numerous researchers thus continue to make patent analyses. The quality of patents possessed by a country indicates the level of innovation and technology in the country, and this study aims to assess the quality of patents possessed by various countries. Design/methodology/approach In this study, the authors determined patent quality in various countries from the perspective of the reflective measurement model and used a novel method to construct a structural model of patent quality. Findings This study discovered that patent family, number of claims, number of international patent classifications, forward citations, nonpatent references and maintenance time are the structural factors that affect patent quality. Forward citations and the number of claims are particularly highly explained by patent quality, which is a latent construct. Originality/value The results of this study provide valuable information to the government and help in the assessment of patent quality in various countries. In addition, the assessment model proposed in this study can be used in the investigation of patent quality in academic research and can predict patent quality, which will be of interest to the government and industry.

The objective of this paper is to assess the occupational accident model construct using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The data for the study were obtained from the questionnaire survey using Likert scale rated 1 to 10 on 450 workers at the oil and gas terminal in Terengganu. CFA was used to verify the fitness of measurement model construct of occupational accident. A total of 53 significant items for the overall variables of occupational accident input were studied. In conclusion, all the variables of occupational accident construct such as engineering, human, and technical factors comply with the requirements of dimensions, validity, and reliability of the CFA requirement.

In this paper, a Bayesian network-based assessment model used for evaluating the innovation of cloud computing industry is presented. Firstly, the innovation measurement model of cloud computing industrial clusters is designed. Then Bayesian network assessment and the self-learning method to the model are proposed. Finally, accompanying with empirical data, the most likely innovation status value of cloud computing industrial clusters and key variables influencing the innovation status value can be predicted. This model can provide the theory basis for researching the innovative development of cloud computing industries.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify and synthesize approaches to studying Lean transformation to further develop a comprehensive approach that integrates organizational culture analysis and performance measurement systems from a systems perspective. Design/methodology/approach This paper is conceptual in nature and based on a review of the literature in the areas of measuring Lean transformation and studying organizational culture. Three questions guide this conceptual analysis: “What approaches have been used to examine Lean transformation in business and public sector organizations?”; “Is there evidence of a focus on organizational culture in the measurement practices in Lean transformation and, if so, how?”; and “What can we learn from organizational cultural theorists about developing a more comprehensive framework to study Lean transformation?”. The analysis was conducted in two phases: In Phase 1, a database search was conducted using the key words Lean transformation, studying Lean, studying Lean transformation, studying organizational culture in Lean and measuring Lean, from which eight papers were selected. In Phase 2, the authors reviewed two models for studying organizational culture. Findings Findings indicated that the dominant approach to study and measure Lean transformation is based on the performance measurement model. Based on this approach, there was little evidence of a focus on organizational culture, and few integrated the human dimensions with the tools and practices. The authors also found evidence of a greater awareness of the need to develop a balanced performance measurement system that reflects both the subjective soft measures and the objective hard measures. Among the approaches studied, two models did reflect integration between hard and soft measures: Dahlgaard et al.’s (2011) 4Ps and Najem et al. ’s (2012) assessment model for studying organizational culture in Lean. Both of these methods provide a strong framework from which to further enhance the study of Lean transformation by incorporating elements from Bantz’s (1993) organizational communication culture method and Martin’s (1992) Matrix concept. Originality/value This paper furthers the academic dialogue on measuring Lean transformation through its unique analysis of studying organizational culture.

The constructs of students’ akhlak are developed on the basis of the akhlak as affective domain and as a religiousity concept, adopting the ritualistic concept and consequences from Glock and Stark (1966). This research and development used self-report and indirect observations, involving 291 students and 26 teachers by using purposive sampling technique. The quality instrument testing consists of: validation process (face, content and construct), reliability (internal consistency and inter-rater reliability); and stability. The results of the study are as follows. (1) The model of an assessment of students’ akhlak includes a measurement model and an assessment system for students’ akhlak. The instrument is composed through the process of expert judgment, Focus Group Disscussion and testing constructs (2) The result of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) shows that constructs of students’ akhlak cover the dimensions of akhlak to Allah, Prophet Muhammad, parents, self, teachers, society, and environment. (3) The internal reliability of instrument ranges from 0.865 to 0.921 (high); the inter-rater reliability is 0.851 (high) by Product Moment Correlation and Cohens’ Kappa coefficient 0.770 (very good). Instruments stability levels ranging from being good to being very good (0.715 to 0.858). (4) the assessment system model after the simulation is confirmation yields an agreement of 90% with the respondents’ performances. Keywords: assessment model, students’ akhlak, akhlaks’ constructs, instrument
