Cultural and International Aspects of Social Media

Social software provides powerful tools for people to communicate and interact. Social software networks are popular around the world but there are many differences between tools, functions and their use. The international application of these global tools even bears the risk of misunderstandings between individuals. This article discusses differences between social software from various countries concerning design, functions, use, opinion expression and the perception of social capital. First, a theoretical culture model is presented to provide one potential framework for the analysis. Subsequently, the relation between culture and information technology is explored. In particular, user interfaces need to be adapted to national preferences and cognitive styles. The influence of culture on social networks is then discussed for several aspects of social media.

Popularity of the social media and the amount of importance given by an individual to social media has significantly increased in last few years. As more and more people become part of the social networks like Twitter, Facebook, information which flows through the social network, can potentially give us good understanding about what is happening around in our locality, state, nation or even in the world. The conceptual motive behind the project is to develop a system which analyses about a topic searched on Twitter. It is designed to assist Information Analysts in understanding and exploring complex events as they unfold in the world. The system tracks changes in emotions over events, signalling possible flashpoints or abatement. For each trending topic, the system also shows a sentiment graph showing how positive and negative sentiments are trending as the topic is getting trended.

Revolutionary development in field of communication and information technology have globally opened new avenue of marketing tourism and hospitality products. Major shift in web usage happened when Napster in 1999 released peer-to-peer share media and then with pioneer social networking websites named ‘Six Degrees'. This kind of interactive social web was named as ‘Web 2.0'. It would create openness, community and interaction. Web2. is also known as Social media base. Social media is incudes “all the different kinds of content that form social networks: posts on blogs or forums, photos, audio, videos, links, profiles on social networking web sites, status updates and more”. It allows people to create; upload post and share content easily and share globally. Social media allows the creation and exchange of user-generated content and experiences online. Thus, social media is any kind of information we share with our social network, using social networking web sites and services.

Globalization has made the inhabitants of the world interconnected more closely in almost every aspect of life because of the speed of information obtained. One of the important things that need to be considered in realizing the process of globalization is the development of information technology. The development of information technology has led to the emergence of new media. The new media is being used in various industries and business including in tourism industry. Public relation practitioners working in tourism industry take benefits of new media as means of communication and promotion. Ragunan Zoo is a tourist destination located in South Jakarta, Indonesia. The development of the era led to the development of strategy in introducing this tourism destination to local and overseas tourists. The types of new media that this tourism destination exploits are websites, social media, and mobile phone applications.

Subversion! Is it the symbol of invisibility, or the symbol of the secret power? What does it represent, the ability to carry the messages secretly, or the power to change the world? What are the ideas or objects that subversion challenges? The authority, people, tradition, institution, or the whole of humanity. Can it be considered as a way to brainwash or as a means to manipulate the thoughts and opinions of people? Is the power used by people to hide their feelings from others, be subversive? Is it the point where the change and progress meet? There are a lot of numerous and different questions that can be born from just a simple word subversion. At first glance, we think it is something simple, but its true meaning has power and many methods of expression. The whole idea and aim of subversion are to overthrow the existing state or situation and bring a functioning or desired change. It also supports the idea of staying behind and moving by one's own beliefs and choices. One of the common ways that we are exposed to subversive messages is through advertisements for different products, and the messages they carry on. Because of them, our subconscious mind is made to believe and desire things that we do not truly need or want. In the age of information technology and social media, subversive messages are carried much easier and shaped based on the characteristics of target audiences. Nowadays, advertisement and political campaigns directly respond to the individual requirements of target audiences, making their messages much more acceptable and influential.

Brazilian population spends a lot of time on social media. The average access from any device is 3 hours and 39 minutes (The Global, 2018). On the other hand, the country leads the numbers of anxiety disorder among the population. According to the World Health Organization, the incidence in the country is 9.3%, while the world average is 3.5%. This number is even higher in big cities, reaching 19.9% in the city of São Paulo (Horta, 2019). Possible causes are economic instability, social changes and violence (Horta, 2019). Add to that the political polarization in recent years and the intensive use of gadgets, private chat applications, such as Whatsapp, and social networks. In this work, we focus on the influence of social networks in the development of Brazilian anxiety. Our hypothesis is that the intensity of use reinforces the existence of other factors of anxiety increase (economy, violence, political division, etc.) through the sharing of news, besides adding others, such as self-display, performativity and the need of always being in evidence in social networks. As a method, we will work with content analysis (news and images) from the main social networking platforms used in Brazil.

Communication between employees play a crucial role in increasing the productivity in the workplace. Social media is an ideal tool that can be used to enhance the communication process between the employees. This tool can be used to retrieve an insurmountable amount of information. Nevertheless, the usage of social media has two different consequences known as the “dual effects”: productive behaviors (task-oriented and relationship-building) and unproductive behaviors (deviance) at work (Carlson D., Carlson J. & Harris, 2016). It is essential for organizations to understand what drives Millennial employees and what tools they prefer to utilize in the workplace. Understanding Millennials’ characteristics will enable the management team to lead them appropriately and thus elicit more productive outcomes. Millennials have certain characteristics that distinguish them from previous generations. They are known as “digital natives” as the idea of technology has been ingrained in their mind since birth. (Myers, Sundaram & Vodanovich, 2010). This generation expects an abundance of information, aims for the speed of communication and multi-tasking, and are willing to share their experiences with the world via social networks (Krishen et al, 2016). In this study, we will see how social media can have an impact on their psychological health.

There is today a great deal of controversy over digital and social media. Even leaders in the tech industry are beginning to decry the time young people spend on smartphones and social networks. Recently, the World Health Organization proposed adding “gaming disorder” to its official list of diseases, defining it as a pattern of gaming behavior so severe that it takes “precedence over other life interests”. At the same time, many others have celebrated the positive properties of video games, social media, and social networks. This paper argues that a deeper understanding of human beings is needed to design for deep learning. For the purposes of this study “design for deep learning” means helping people matter and find meaning in ways that make them and others healthy in mind and body, while improving the state of the world for all living things, with due respect for truth, sensation, happiness, imagination, individuality, diversity, and the future. In particular, fifteen features related to human nature are suggested based on recent scientific developments to answer the question: What is a human being? Consequently, proposals that are linked to learning and transformation, as well as social improvement, should fit with the ways in which humans, as specific sorts of biological and social creatures, learn best (or can learn at all) and can change for the better. En la actualidad existe una nutrida controversia en relación a los medios de comunicación sociales y digitales que ha llevado, incluso, a censurar la utilización de las redes sociales y los móviles por parte de líderes en la industria tecnológica. En este sentido, la Organización Mundial para la Salud ha propuesto añadir el «desorden del juego» a su listado de enfermedades, definiéndolo como un modelo de comportamiento de juego tan severo que se impone como «preferencia sobre otros intereses». Al mismo tiempo, distintos académicos han enfatizado los aspectos positivos derivados de las redes sociales y los videojuegos. En este artículo se argumenta que es necesaria una mejor comprensión del ser humano para poder implementar lo que aquí se define como diseño para el aprendizaje profundo. El «diseño para el aprendizaje profundo» está encaminado al reconocimiento de las personas y el desarrollo de sentidos saludables, individual y colectivamente, así como la mejora, en general, del estado del mundo para todos los seres vivos, según principios de verdad, felicidad, imaginación, individualidad, diversidad y futuro. En particular, se sugieren quince características basadas en desarrollos científicos que responden a la pregunta: ¿Qué es un ser humano? Consecuentemente, propuestas vinculadas al aprendizaje y la transformación y mejora social deben ser coherentes con dichas características que permiten definir cómo las personas, en tanto que organismos biológicos y sociales, aprenden o pueden aprender óptimamente, así como cambiar para mejorar.

Abstract— Social networks sites (SNS) is linked all the users over the world, and SNS have great impact on their behaviours, business, and morals. So this paper aims to clarify the new trend of e-marketing through the (SNS) by employing the social media influencers. The importance of research stems from the importance of the e-WOM represented by the activities of social media influencers and their role in enhancing e-marketing, and the research is based on a main hypothesis that the enhancement of marketing campaigns for companies can be effect through the social media influencers by increasing users’ confidence in e-WOM. The researchers concluded to many results, the most important one is showed that there is a statistically significant effect at the level of α ≥ 0.05 for the enhancement of marketing campaigns for companies and the social media influencers by increasing users’ confidence in e-WOM, and they recommended to improve the level of confidence between social media influencers and their followers to enhance the e-marketing activities on SNS.

The article deals with the gender specificity of the expression of emotions in social media. A person perceives and reflects the world around him / her and fixes these ideas in language. It is noted that the emotional assessment of reality is displayed both in the semantics of words, phrases, various syntactic structures, and non-verbal communication as well. The gender factor is considered to be one of the essential characteristics of the personality and affects the identification of the speaking subject by other members of the society.
