Reading is an important competency to be developed for children in the first years of elementary school. Reading becomes a mechanism that allows the children to interact with the world and identify their characteristics. Dyslexia is one learning disability frequently manifested in elementary school, and to identify it, teachers require extra educative resources, in particular educational applications. This work proposes a process model to design and develop educational applications considering the learning needs of children with dyslexia. It involves a user-centered approach because different perceptions of several actors are considered. The performance of the proposed model is explored in a case study and an evaluation, taking into account usability and accessibility factors.

Purpose – This study aims to introduce an empirical model which incorporates newsgroups, knowledge forums, knowledge assets and knowledge application processes to share organisational knowledge. Therefore it seeks to illustrate an application for integrating knowledge management (KM) into the business process. Design/methodology/approach – The Taiwanese contingent of an international certification body – also a council member of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) – was selected for a case study. A hybrid technology infrastructure was designed and employed to implement the proposed model. Based on knowledge value added validation, the proposed KM model provides a set of new operating systems for sharing knowledge within an organisation. Findings – Although many theories regarding implementation of KM in organisations have been proposed and studied, an application model for practical integration of various modern principles to share organisational knowledge is strategically important. Therefore a model that integrates principal KM applications into the business process, and the measurement of the resulting benefits, has been developed. Originality/value – Knowledge is a valuable asset for an individual in today's economy; nevertheless the acquisition of such an asset relies heavily on knowledge sharing within an organisation. The author has proposed an exclusive hybrid platform with an empirical process model to address innovative approaches and practical values of KM within an organisation.

<br>This paper, that presents part of our doctoral research, has the goal to show a comparative analysis of the transition between initial and final years, in particular of the teaching of perimeter and area from Grade 5 to Grade 6 of elementary school in a private school from Recife-PE. This case study had, as theoretical and methodological support, the anthropologic didactic theory with the codetermination levels scale, and documental analysis, semistructured interviews and naturalistic observations. Among the results obtained, we have noticed that both internal and external pressures caused by codetermination levels in São Francisco school make apparent the paradigm conflict of questioning the world and visitation of works present in the transition between teaching levels to the perimeter and area objects.

The spread of the Corona virus has brought about major changes in the world. Even before, this technology was an important presence in practically every sphere of our daily routine. There is a widespread assumption that the population existing in the rural areas is hesitant towards accustoming to modernization. This paper is an inquiry constructed on the base of a questionnaire designed to determine the standpoint of the parents having children enrolled at primary level school in relation to the compulsory new ICT tools at school and at home, the difficulties and their awareness of the array of possibilities offered by communication science. The research was conducted at the end of June 2021 and it focuses on the period from March to June (2019-2020 school year) when all schools in Romania were performing online classes. The pupils comprised in this respective case study attend „Oborani Elementary school (I-IV)”, a rural school with pupils from the preparatory level to the fourth grade from Vişina Village in Dâmboviţa country, Romanina.

Nowadays and due to the pandemic of COVID-19, nurses are working under the highest pressure benevolently all over the world. This urgent situation can cause more fatigue for nurses who are responsible for taking care of COVID-19 patients 24 hours a day. Therefore, nurse scheduling should be modified with respect to this new situation. The purpose of the present research is to propose a new mathematical model for Nurse Scheduling Problem (NSP) considering the fatigue factor. To solve the proposed model, a hybrid Genetic Algorithm (GA) has been developed to provide a nurse schedule for all three shifts of a day. To validate the proposed approach, a randomly generated problem has been solved. In addition, to show the applicability of the proposed approach in real situations, the model has been solved for a real case study, a department in one of the hospitals in Esfahan, Iran, where COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. Consequently, a nurse schedule for May has been provided applying the proposed model, and the results approve its superiority in comparison with the manual schedule that is currently used in the department. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first study in which the proposed model takes the fatigue of nurses into account and provides a schedule based on it.

Over the coming years, developments of large urban areas are expected, many of them on plots where soil conditions may not be the most suitable for building. This is the case of plots that previously have been used for dumping anthropic fill deposits. The term anthropic fill included a large variety of materials, all of them related with human activity; but this paper is mainly focused on natural materials extracted from nearby excavations or construction debris that form non-contaminated lands. In a review of literature related to risks, it is observed that in the last 10 years there have been abundant investigations to determine vulnerability in urban areas. However, the risks derived from the presence of anthropic landfills have generally been overlooked. For this reason, there is a real need to quantify construction vulnerability in areas settled on anthropic landfills. A methodology, up to now unknown, must be created to estimate and extrapolate it to any part of the world. The aim is to avoid the likelihood of pathologies appearing in urban areas. Hence, and to address this lack of knowledge, an Integrated Evaluation Model has been developed. Its purpose is to quantify, simply but effectively, the construction vulnerability index in already consolidated areas of historic landfills. The proposed model has been validated in a very popular district of the city of Madrid. Its surface, the number of buildings affected and population involved make it truly representative.

In this chapter, the authors present a case study with the objective to evaluate the results of the same in the mining sector, one of the sectors in the economy with more relevant complex projects around the world and in which one can easily apply all of the pillars as discussed during the presentation of the model. To better give the reader an understanding about the idea, the authors first introduce the sector and then perform and present the results of the investigation over this case. In order to calibrate the proposed model, the authors decided to apply it by checking at the end if the result achieved was closer than what they imagined for the company.

This study develops a proposed model based on the Analytical Hierarchical Process model (AHP) and Standard and Poor's/ Egypt Stock Exchange Environmental, Social and Governance Index (S&P/EGX ESG) to measure and maximize the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance. The results confirm that the company that successfully undertakes this model can develop a coherent sustainable disclosure commitment that contributes to a never-ending journey of continuous improvement in the company's CSR performance. Furthermore, based on the empirical results of the proposed model implemented at SC which is the targeted company used for the case study, we find that this model enables the company to identify, measure and track its CSR performance over three years from 2017 to 2019 and in comparison with the S&P/EGX ESG benchmark at the KPIs level. In addition, the researchers develop a sustainability outcomes report to reflect the strengths and weaknesses in the current situation of SC. Therefore, it enables the company to transparently communicate the results of its performance in a high-quality report, which finally contributes to the achievement of sustainable development as an end vision.

Studies on developing models for e-retail implementation for consumer co-operative business are very scarce. Co-operative businesses appear to be anxious about going into online retailing since Malaysian Internet shopping is still new, customers are not very familiar and skeptical towards online shopping. Consequently a case study (participant observation) will be undertaken in this study to accomplish main aim in implementation Content Management System (CMS) in developing design process of consumer co-operative website. Web design process model by Kiatruangkrai et al. (2010) and Goi(2007a) have been the foundation guideline in designing the website. Package selection web based application has been used in design stage which can easily help non professional web developer to design their online shopping website. As a conceptual paper, this research is limited to literature and prior research. It offers the benefit to new direction for further research on web design process model. This paper provides researcher with a proposed model of web design process. The proposed model should also be tested in relation with e retail business.
