Smart farming may also be called digital farming. The world is changing and digitizing at a quick rate. So all the work from agriculture to the stock market will become more productive and faster. Speed and efficiency play a key role in coping with the rapid pace of life and growing population. Smart agriculture has removed many of the problems faced by farmers during the conventional farming process. Several technologies are useful in this field, which make them work comfortably. Productivity in all areas of this sector can be increased with the aid of new technologies such as IoT and big data. Data can be accessed and analyzed from any part of the world with the help of IoT devices. The chapter offers insight into technology, such as big data and IoT, its applications in smart farming, as well as future innovations and opportunities.

In the world of modern health, despite the fact that we've been blessed with amazing advances of late - the advent of personalised medicine is just one example - “change” for most citizens seems slow. There are clear discrepancies in availability of the best care for all, the divisions in access from country to country, wealthy to poor, are large. There are even discrepancies between regions of the larger countries, where access often varies alarmingly. Too many Member States (with their competence for healthcare) appear to be clinging stubbornly to the concept of “one-size-fits-all” in healthcare and often stifle advances possible through personalised medicine. Meanwhile, the legislative arena encompassing health has grown big and unwieldy in many respects. And bigger is not always better. The health advances spoken of above, an increased knowledge on the part of patients, the emergence of Big Data and more, are quickly changing the face of healthcare in Europe. But healthcare thinking across the EU isn't changing fast enough. The new technologies will certainly speak for themselves, but only if allowed to do so. Acknowledging that, this article highlights a positive reform agenda, while explaining that new avenues need to be explored.

Smart farming through IoT technology could empower farmers to upgrade profitability going from the amount of manure to be used to the quantity of water for irrigating their fields and also help them to decrease waste. Through IoT, sensors could be used for assisting farmers in the harvest field to check for light, moistness, temperature, soil dampness, etc., and robotizing the water system framework. Moreover, the farmers can screen the field conditions from anyplace and overcome the burden and fatigue to visit farms to confront problems in the fields. For example, farmers are confronting inconvenience while utilizing right quantity and time to use manures and pesticides in their fields as per the crop types. In this chapter, the authors have introduced a model where farmers can classify damaged crops and healthy crops with the help of different sensors and deep learning models. (i.e., The idea of implementing IoT concepts for the benefit of farmers and moving the world towards smart agriculture is presented.)

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes on mortality in the world. Consequently, tools and methods providing useful and applicable insights into their assessment play a crucial role in the prediction and managements of specific heart conditions. In this article, we introduce a method based on multi-class Logistic Regression as a classifier to provide a powerful and accurate insight into cardiac arrhythmia, which is one of the predictors of serious vascular diseases. As suggested by our evaluation, this provides a robust, scalable, and accurate system, which can successfully tackle the challenges posed by the utilisation of big data in the medical sector.

The growing role that computing will play in addressing the world's pressing global issues has begun to move to center state, as Big Data for the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) is now included among the United Nations' Global Issues. The UN summarizes this Big Data issue as "The volume of data in the world is increasing exponentially. New sources of data, new technologies, and new analytical approaches, if applied responsibly, can allow to better monitor progress toward achievement of the SDGs in a way that is both inclusive and fair" [2], Elsewhere, we have applauded and argued for computing initiatives, including computer science education, that specifically focus on such "pressing social, environment, and economic problems" [1] and we acknowledge our SIGs commitment to directly tackling such issues.

Agriculture has always had a great significance in the civilization development. However, modern agriculture is facing increasing challenges due to population growth and environmental degradation. Commercially, farmers are looking for ways to improve profitability and agricultural efficiency to reduce costs. Smart Farming is enabling the use of detailed digital information to guide decisions along the agricultural value chain. Thus, better decisions and efficient management control are required through generated information and knowledge at any farm. New technologies and solutions have been applied to provide alternatives to assist in information gathering and processing, and thereby contribute to increased agricultural productivity. Therefore, this article aims to gain state-of-art insight and identify proposed solutions, trends and unfilled gaps regarding digitalization and Big Data applications in Smart Farming, through a literature review. The current study accomplished these goals through analyses based on ProKnow-C (Knowledge Development Process – Constructivist) methodology. A total of 2401 articles were found. Then, a quantitative analysis identified the most relevant ones among a total of 39 articles were included in a bibliometric and text mining analysis, which was performed to identify the most relevant journals and authors that stand out in the research area. A systemic analysis was also accomplished from these articles. Finally, research problems, solutions, opportunities, and new trends to be explored were identified.

Smart cities is the latest buzzword towards bringing innovation, technology, and intelligence for meeting the demand of ever-growing population. Technologies like internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), edge computing, big data, wireless communication are the main building blocks for smart city project initiatives. Now with the upcoming of latest technologies like IoT-enabled sensors, drones, and autonomous robots, they have their application in agriculture along with AI towards smart agriculture. In addition to traditional farming called outdoor farming, a lot of insights have gone with the advent of IoT technologies and artificial intelligence in indoor farming like hydroponics, aeroponics. Now along with IoT, artificial intelligence, big data, and analytics for smart city management towards smart agriculture, there is big trend towards fog/edge, which extends the cloud computing towards bandwidth, latency reduction. This chapter focuses on artificial intelligence in IoT-edge for smart agriculture.

Event tourism has undergone a serious change in the world with developing technology and innovations. In this respect, this chapter examines the direct, marketing, and management effects of technology on event tourism with a literature review. Studies in this field in the literature show that technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, robots, decision support systems, internet of things, 5G cause behavioral changes in tourists; thus, event organizers use these technologies effectively to keep up with this change. In this context, academic studies in the field, new technologies, and methods used, innovation strategies are explained in detail in the book section, and a framework has been developed and presented to examine smart event tourism in detail. The results of the research are thought to contribute to the literature and offer managerial solutions.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) disrupts the world of work, new technologies change the nature of individuals’ work and their tasks, and therefore it is necessary to determine how managers cope with these changes, specifically relating to their salutogenesis. There is a lack of research conducted on the salutogenesis of managers in times of the 4IR. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of managers’ sense of coherence (SOC) in terms of the adjustments and developments of the 4IR, and their in-depth understanding of their SOC. This study employs a hermeneutical research design with a qualitative approach by using a semi-structured interview. The method used to analyze the data was content analysis. From the data analysis, the findings indicate that a majority of the managers tend to have an understanding of the 4IR and what implications of the 4IR will have on the world of work and their job description, the necessary resources to cope with the 4IR, and find the 4IR meaningful, therefore, managers have a strong SOC level during the 4IR. The recommendations for future studies suggest that research could be conducted how managers and lower-level managers’ SOC differ, which will provide insight into what different methods are required for the different level of managers.

The world has transformed into an information society that exceedingly depends on data. Since information frameworks create large measures of records each day, consistently, it appears the world is achieving the level of data overload. Big data is used to process the enormous volumes of data into revealing shrouded designs, complex relationships, and other helpful information. This work has done a comprehensive analysis of enormous information investigation in medicinal services. A brief insight into the importance of cognitive computing in healthcare has been presented. The extensive study concludes that the Cognitive computing has more impact on healthcare predictions than the big data analytics.


With an array of innovative technologies, the 21st century has struck at our door. Many sectors are embracing the implementation of a revolutionary technology called Big Data Analytics. The education sector has lately jumped on the bandwagon. With the new evolving education technology capable of generating Big Data, stakeholders have firmly started adopting the use of Big Data Analytics in the education sector. This paper proposes a model for Big Data Analytics depicting various required components, for the education sector. Various sources of education data provide the necessary input to the model and model produces useful results in the form of the output using various tools and technologies of Big Data ecosystem. The outputs are going to be consumed by various stakeholders of the education sector. The paper also describes the concept of Big Data, new technologies influencing the education sector and explains why Big Data Analytics is going to be core technology in analyzing the data and taking the world of education to new heights.
