In this cashless economy era, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) plays a vital role in making payments using various payment modes. The mobile wallet app is an innovative technology for avoiding the usage of physical cash. The mobile wallet records all kinds of transactions with a clear payment reference and makes it accountable for tax payments. There are countless reasons for using mobile wallets which makes service providers confused and leads them to offer unattractive features in the wallet apps making the offer as a failure. This paper attempts to collect the data from the mobile wallet users and provide a clear understanding of the reasons for using mobile wallets. Secondly, the customer preferences towards Google Pay and PayTm are analyzed in detail with primary data collected from mobile wallet users to suggest a model for improving the business. With the increasing role of information and communication technology (ICT) in the society, ICT’s role is gaining importance in the aspect of provision and use of the public sector services for the citizens. Especially in the European Union different activities have been conducted through the years to promote ICT use in the society. It has been mainly based on the Digital Agenda for Europe (DAE), which underlines the key role of ICT in the efforts to achieve its strategic objectives. Slovenia as an EU member state follows these directions but positions itself among less successful states in the EU. The well-known European Digital Economy and Society Index ranks Slovenia to the lower half of member states indicating possibilities for improvement. Although much can be said and done about the service-providers side this paper focuses on the users’ side and especially on their digital inequality. The lack of studies in the area of digital inequality and online government services adoption and use is the main motivation for this research. The research uses the data provided by Slovenian annual survey Use of Information and Communication Technology in Households and by Individuals of the last four years. The analysis of this data, presented in the paper, exhibits that changes for the better are detected in Slovenian society, but the situation in public-sector services is not optima. The results demonstrate the existence of digital inequality considering the income level of households and education level of individual users. The synthesis of the data demonstrates that the Slovenian government and its ministries should consider adding tangible actions to the already set strategies if the country wants to catch up with the leading countries of the EU and achieve goals, set by the DAE.

The continuous development of the new-generation Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has drawn increased focus and investment from China. However, will China’s investment in the ICT bring a long-term positive impact on China’s economic growth? Will such impact be changed by any external factors? These questions bear strong significance for the academic cycle and require urgent solutions. Given such concerns, the paper introduced a partial dynamic adjustment model and selected the panel data of China from 2001 to 2016 to study how China’s investment in ICT affected its economic performance. The study found that such investment has significantly promoted the economic growth of China with gradually shortened gap between physical capital and the ICT investment, while human capital still played a vital role in economic growth; there is a mutual and harmonious influence between macrovariable and the speed of adjustment, and only their effective combination can improve economic performance to the maximum extent.

A thorough glance of the ICT and development researches reveal that the qualitative studies reasonably depend on the grounded theory as it is obtained from the phenomenon unlike the study begins with the theory and proves it. Most of the researches concentrated on the adoption of technology, receptiveness of the target audience, organizational structure of the project agencies and of course, the impact of intervention. Fewer researches have been done to gauge the factors affecting the positive or negative impact of the technology. None of the above stated theories were relevant except meta-theoretical perspectives of ICT and society. The authors propose a chapter discusses the contingency factors which affect the positive or negative impact of the rural Information and Communication Technology hubs in India by analyzing the researches which were published after the year 2000. It shall be specifically dealing with the researches which are based on primary data. Thus it could reflect the challenges the Indian rural ICT initiatives face.
