Sintered bearing materials have been developed in order to be used as a journal bearing material without lubrication. This paper presents a study of influence of manufacturing and process parameters on friction and wear of bearing. Plan of experiments, based on Taguchi technique was used to acquire the data in a controlled way. An orthogonal array (L27) and analysis of variance were employed to investigate the influence of parameters of dry ferrous bearing. The objective is to establish a correlation between process and manufacturing parameters with friction and wear by multiple regression analysis. Finally, confirmation tests were performed to validate the relationship as suggested through experiments.

This paper presents the results of tests performed with journal bearings with seven bearing materials, at a variety of loads and rotational speeds. On the basis of these results some empirical equations for predicting the behavior of boundary lubricated journal bearings are proposed. It is demonstrated that a noncontact parameter, that is, the ratio of elastohydrodynamic film thickness to the combined roughness of the two mating surfaces, plays the same important role in the behavior of the boundary lubricated journal bearing as in rolling-sliding elements. The friction coefficient is represented by the noncontact parameter and a nondimensional load parameter, besides by material constants, unless preseizure occurs. A critical flash temperature can predict the preseizure. Moreover it is shown that the correlation between the specific wear and the friction coefficient is close at any operating condition.

The reflection of ultrasound at an oil film can be used to determine the film thickness. A thin oil film reflects less ultrasound than a thick film. When the film is thin there is a simple relationship between oil film thickness and the proportion of the wave amplitude reflected. The reflection coefficient is in fact a complex quantity with both magnitude and phase. A model for how both the phase and amplitude vary with oil film thickness (and the properties of the bearing materials) has been developed. It has been shown that both can be used to determine film thickness. Tests have been performed to determine the oil film thickness and explore the relationship between reflection amplitude and phase. Experiments are performed both on a static oil film between flat plates, and on an operating journal bearing. Both methods provide a simple accurate method for the measurement of oil film thickness.

Abstract. Depression in older adults can be explained by Erikson’s theory on the conflict of ego integrity versus hopelessness. The study investigated the relationship between past acceptance, hopelessness, death anxiety, and depressive symptoms in 100 older (≥50 years) adults. The total Beck Hopelessness (BHS), Geriatric Depression (GDS), and Accepting the Past (ACPAST) subscale scores of the depressed group were higher, while the total Death Anxiety (DAS) and Reminiscing the Past (REM) subscale scores of both groups were similar. A regression analysis revealed that the BHS, DAS, and ACPAST predicted the GDS. Past acceptance seems to be important for ego integrity in older adults.

This study aims to analyze the interaction of ethical culture, spiritual intelligence, ethical content, and students' ethical behavior. The population in this study is a student at one of the leading accounting vocational education institutions in Yogyakarta. Sampling technique in this research use purposive sampling. The number of samples in this study was 368 respondents. Data analysis using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of this study indicate that the content of ethics affect the student's ethical behavior. The interaction of ethical culture on the relationship between ethical content and ethical behavior suggests it can strengthen its influence. Similarly, the interplay of spiritual intelligence that demonstrates can strengthen the relationship between ethical content and student ethical behavior.

Radin Inten II Airport is a national flight in Lampung Province. In this study using the technical analysis stated preference which is the approach by conveying the choice statement in the form of hypotheses to be assessed by the respondent. By using these techniques the researcher can fully control the hypothesized factors. To determine utility function for model forecasting in fulfilling request of traveler is used regression analysis with SPSS program. The analysis results obtained that the passengers of the dominant airport in the selection of modes of cost attributes than on other attributes. From the result of regression analysis, the influence of independent variable to the highest dependent variable is when the five attributes are used together with the R square value of 8.8%. The relationship between cost, time, headway, time acces and service with the selection of modes, the provision that states whether or not there is a decision. The significance of α = 0.05 with chi-square. And the result of Crame's V test average of 0.298 is around the middle, then the relationship is moderate enough.

This study aims to examine the relationship between brand image and product quality on customer loyalty in sports products. Data were collected through a questionnaire of 68 respondents. Through regression analysis, the results show that brand image and quality can explain variations in consumer loyalty with the brand image as a dominant factor. This finding implies that producers can increase consumer loyalty by enhancing brand image. Companies need to think about how to develop key messages so that consumers can clearly understand the position of the product. The unique aspects of the product need to be improved to create a special impression on the customer. Keywords: brand image, produk quality, customer loyalty

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between extrinsic and intrinsic reward on retention among Gen Y employees in Malaysian manufacturing companies. The data was collected from 113 respondents worked in manufacturing companies located in Seri Kembangan, Selangor using questionnaires. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses. The results showed both extrinsic and intrinsic reward are the factors influencing retaining Gen Y in manufacturing companies. The discussion on the analysis, limitation of the study, recommendation for future research and conclusion were discussed at the end of this study. In a nutshell, it was proven extrinsic reward and intrinsic reward has contributed to the retention of Gen Y employees.

Background: It is currently believed that protein folding rates are influenced by protein structure, environment and temperature, amino acid sequence and so on. We have been working for long to determine whether and in what ways mRNA affects the protein folding rate. A large number of palindromes aroused our attention in our previous research. Whether these palindromes do have important influences on protein folding rates and what’s the mechanism? Very few related studies are focused on these problems. Objective: In this article, our motivation is to find out if palindromes have important influences on protein folding rates and what’s the mechanism. Method: In this article, the parameters of the palindromes were defined and calculated, the linear regression analysis between the values of each parameter and the experimental protein folding rates were done. Furthermore, to compare the results of different kinds of proteins, proteins were classified into the two-state proteins and the multi-state proteins. For the two kinds of proteins, the above linear regression analysis were performed respectively. Results : Protein folding rates were negatively correlated to the palindrome frequencies for all proteins. An extremely significant negative linear correlation appeared in the relationship between palindrome densities and protein folding rates. And the repeatedly used bases by different palindromes simultaneously have an important effect on the relationship between palindrome density and protein folding rate. Conclusion: The palindromes have important influences on protein folding rates, and the repeatedly used bases in different palindromes simultaneously play a key role in influencing the protein folding rates.

Purpose: This research aims to study the relationship between perception of elderly’s health and health behaviors in Nakhon Nayok province, Thailand Methods: This research was a cross-sectional study. The questionnaire was used to collect the data. This research was conducted in Nakhon Nayok province. The sample size was 270 which applied Taro Yamane's formula at a significant level 0.05. The descriptive statistics was implemented to describe the variables by presenting the frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis was applied to analyze the relationship between perception of elderly’s health and health behaviors. The statistical significance was considered to reject Hypothesis-null at < 0.05. Results: From a total of 270 people, more than 58.22% of the elderly perceived that they had moderate health conditions. Most elderly had congenital diseases (62.2%). The multiple regression analysis results showed that health status perception and health status perception when compared to their cohort related significantly to health behavior. Conclusion: The government should support the elderly on participation, trust, engagement, and cultural concern of the people in the community, which can contribute to promoting the physical, mental and social condition of the elderly.
