Clustering Mashups by Integrating Structural and Semantic Similarities Using Fuzzy AHP

Mashup technology has become a promising way to develop and deliver applications on the web. Automatically organizing Mashups into functionally similar clusters helps improve the performance of Mashup discovery. Although there are many approaches aiming to cluster Mashups, they solely focus on utilizing semantic similarities to guide the Mashup clustering process and are unable to utilize both the structural and semantic information in Mashup profiles. In this paper, a novel approach to cluster Mashups into groups is proposed, which integrates structural similarity and semantic similarity using fuzzy AHP (fuzzy analytic hierarchy process). The structural similarity is computed from usage histories between Mashups and Web APIs using SimRank algorithm. The semantic similarity is computed from the descriptions and tags of Mashups using LDA (latent dirichlet allocation). A clustering algorithm based on the genetic algorithm is employed to cluster Mashups. Comprehensive experiments are performed on a real data set collected from ProgrammableWeb. The results show the effectiveness of the approach when compared with two kinds of conventional approaches.

In this paper, the arbitrage opportunities in a foreign exchange market are detected using analytic hierarchy process and linear matrix inequality methods. For this purpose, first, criteria are proposed to detect the direct, triangular, quadrangular, and other types of arbitrage suspect existing in a foreign exchange market. Subsequently, the optimal arbitrage paths are given. Some simulated examples are given. A real data set is analyzed as well. Finally, a conclusion section is given.

Choosing the right material in the design of environmental noise barriers has always been a challenging issue in acoustics. In less-developed countries, the material selection is affected by many factors from various aspects, which makes the decision-making very complicated. This study attempts to compare and assign weights to the most important indices affecting the choice of appropriate noise barrier material. These criteria include absorption coefficient, transparency, tensile modulus, strength at yield, elongation at break, impact strength, flexural modulus, hardness, and cost. For this purpose, experts' opinions was gathered through a total of 13 questionnaires and used for assigning weights by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy process (FAHP) techniques. According to the AHP results, impact strength, with only a minor difference of 0.093 compared to the AHP, was recognized as the most important criterion. Finally, the optimal composite material was selected using two different methods; first by Technique for Order-Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) based on the weights obtained from AHP, and next by directly applying the obtained weights from FAHP to the true measured values of parameters. As the results show, in both abovementioned methods, Polycarbonate-SiO2 0.3% with roughened surface (PCSI3-R) received the highest score and was selected as the preferred composite material. Given the close similarity of the results, to determine the superiority of one method over the other, some noise was added to the original data set from the mechanical and acoustic tests and then the variance of the changes in the final orders of preferences was calculated. This indicates the robustness of the method against the measurement errors and noise. The results shows that under the same circumstances, the overall order shift variance in the classic TOPSIS is six times higher than that of the fuzzy AHP method.

The increased need for transportation worldwide has led to intense competition among several transportation types. Thus, considering factors affecting the choice of transportation means of passengers is essential. In many countries, railways have been losing market share in both freight and passenger transport, especially against highways. Railway transport systems must regain their declining share for the sake of the economy and sustainability. For this reason, many studies have been conducted to eliminate delays in high-speed trains, the speed of which is the most important criterion for preference. This study determines the reasons for train delays in a bid to make the high-speed train project successful in Turkey and for trains to serve better. Furthermore, regression analysis and the Pythagorean fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) analysis were performed according to the most effective criteria. The most effective criteria were determined as maintenance, repair, and closure due to renewal. Additionally, various suggestions regarding the effect of the obtained causes on train delays were put forward.

Market segment evaluation and selection is one of the critical marketing problems of all companies. This paper presents a novel approach which integrates fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) and COPRAS-G method for market segment evaluation and selection. Fuzzy AHP is used to calculate the weight of each criterion, and COPRAS-G method is proposed to prioritize market segments from the best to the worst ones. The application of fuzzy set theory allows incorporating the vague and imprecise linguistic terms into the decision process. This study can be used as a pattern for market segment selection and future researches. A case study on a chair manufacturing company is put forward to illustrate the performance of the proposed methodology.

Objectives: To identify early suicide risk signs on depressive subjects, so that specialized care can be provided. Various studies have focused on studying expressions on social networks, where users pour their emotions, to determine if they show signs of depression or not. However, they have neglected the quantification of the risk of committing suicide. Therefore, this article proposes a new index for identifying suicide risk in Mexico. Methodology: The proposal index is constructed through opinion mining using Twitter and the Analytic Hierarchy Process. Contribution: Using R statistical package, a study is presented considering real data, making a classification of people according to the obtained index and using information from psychologists. The proposed methodology represents an innovative prevention alternative for suicide.

Decisions usually involve the getting the best solution, selecting the suitable experiments, most appropriate judgments, taking the quality results etc., using some techniques.  Every decision making can be considered as the choice from the set of alternatives based on a set of criteria.  The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process is a multi-criteria decision making and is dealing with decision making problems through pairwise comparisons mode [10].  The weight vectors from this comparison model are obtained by using extent analysis method.  This paper concern with an alternate method of finding the weight vectors from the original fuzzy AHP decision model (moderate fuzzy AHP model), that has the same rank as obtained in original fuzzy AHP and ideal fuzzy AHP decision models.

The furniture industry is growing to a great extent in Bangladesh. Many market researchers believe that the industry has enormous potentiality. However, the expansion of this industry may face complexities within a few years. Due to the wrong selection of facilities, many organizations failed to earn profit as expected. It also needs a large investment. Selecting a suitable place for a new facility is going to be the biggest question of upcoming years. This study aimed to analyze Bangladesh’s furniture industry, address the facility location problem, and provide a constructive solution to the decision-makers. In this study, seven criteria were considered: availability of raw materials, transportations, skilled labor, proximity to customers, energy availability, economic zone facility, and environmental impact, and five ideal locations or alternatives: Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Gazipur, and Manikganj. Thirty-four experts took part in the survey to analyze the significant criteria for selecting a furniture industry’s facility location and alternatives or potential locations for the facility. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy AHP methods (FAHP), two MCDM techniques, were used to analyze the data set. A sensitivity analysis was done to determine the model’s robustness for any critical changes in the real world. The result showed that ‘energy availability is the most significant criterion to select a facility location for the furniture industry, where it got 35.1% criteria weight in AHP and 33.9% in FAHP. ‘Chattogram’ was selected as the most suitable place containing 33.74% normalized weight in AHP and 33.81% normalized weight in FAHP.

In line with the increase in consciousness on sustainability in today’s global world, great emphasis has been attached to food waste management. Food waste is a complex issue to manage due to uncertainties on quality, quantity, location, and time of wastes, and it involves different decisions at many stages from seed to post-consumption. These ambiguities re-quire that some decisions should be handled in a linguistic and ambiguous environment. That forces researchers to benefit from fuzzy sets mostly utilized to deal with subjectivity that causes uncertainty. In this study, as a novel approach, the spherical fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (SFAHP) was used to select the best food treatment option. In the model, four main criteria (infrastructural, governmental, economic, and environmental) and their thirteen sub-criteria are considered. A real case is conducted to show how the proposed model can be used to assess four food waste treatment options (composting, anaerobic digestion, landfilling, and incineration). Also, a sensitivity analysis is generated to check whether the evaluations on the main criteria can change the results or not. The proposed model aims to create a subsidiary tool for decision makers in relevant companies and institutions.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to identify factors that are important for logistics organizations from the perspective of manpower readiness for digitization of logistics operations. The study also prioritizes the identified factors and also evaluates the readiness index of manpower for the digitalization of logistics processes.Design/methodology/approachThe factors for manpower readiness are identified through literature review and analysis of a case study. Three major categories of factors are identified. These are organizational, behavioural and technological factors. Under these three major categories of factors, 18 sub-factors are identified. Thereafter, with experts' inputs, the factors are prioritized using Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Further, a case illustration of an Indian logistics company has been taken to understand the current processes, technical capabilities, manpower skills and organization culture. After the case analysis and expert inputs, the manpower readiness index has been evaluated by using graph theory matrix approach (GTMA).FindingsThe prioritization of manpower readiness factors has been done using Fuzzy AHP. Organizational factors are found to be the most important factors which require quick attention. Sub-factors that are most important for building competencies in the logistics sector are providing the right training on functional skill development (0.129), top management support and commitment for digitalization (0.117), and organizational culture for process digitalization (0.114), etc. Finally, framework for evaluation of manpower readiness index for logistics operations in the digital age has been illustrated for a case company.Practical implicationsIndian logistics companies can benchmark their readiness index with respect to the best in the industry. Based on the readiness index, logistics companies can analyse their position, gaps from best and worst and can also identify potential areas for improvement.Originality/valueThe novelty of the study lies in the development of a framework for manpower readiness for digitalization in the logistics sector. In literature, this field is very less researched and provides the scope for developing strategies for improving manpower competencies for Industry 4.0. Logistics companies can improve their performance by making their manpower ready based on results obtained for readiness index.

International capacity cooperation is easily affected by the interweaving of its internal and external environment. As the risk accumulation exceeds the threshold, a supply chain crisis and even emergency will occur and serious losses will be caused. Regarding multinational operation and international capacity cooperation, 208 cases were summarized to identify risk types and high-incidence areas, and a risk measurement index system was established. A Fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method was used to evaluate the importance of each risk index. It was found that country risk was the main cause of supply chain emergencies in international capacity cooperation. Construction, water and electricity supply, mining and manufacturing were major areas of emergencies. In international capacity cooperation, country risk and cross-cultural risk were more important in external risks, while in internal risk, financial risk and decision risk were more important.
