The development of modern logistics technology and equipment shows the trend of globalization. In order to bring up high-level logistics talents who possess international cooperation in awareness, communication skills, scientific innovation and academic competitiveness, traditional teaching approaches must be reconsidered. Based on the project of bilingual teaching reform of “Advanced Manufacturing Technology”, the paper discusses how to use the student-centered methods, such as case study, problem-based learning (PBL) and project-based teaching to improve teaching quality. In addition, it explores assessment and problems that can be anticipated with these teaching approaches.

This article examines problem based learning (PBL) as a basis for the design of interactive multimedia. To be effective, interactive multimedia should be stimulating and challenging, while providing students with a learning environment in which they can carry out investigations and have access to resources and tools for finding and manipulating data. PBL is an ideal approach to instructional design for multimedia, as it provides a scenario of problem presentation, investigation, resolution and presentation that can form the basis for the multimedia activities. Carried out effectively, this approach can enable high level learning, as the students are required to use the higher order mental processes of analysis, comparison and contrast, hypothesis and synthesis in order to propose a solution to the problem. Students need to take an active rather than a passive approach to learning when using this method. The theoretical basis for this approach is discussed. A case study of higher education course materials in grazing management is used to illustrate the way the PBL approach is used in the instructional design of the materials. Evaluation data from trials with students is included to illustrate the effectiveness of the materials for teaching and learning.

Aprendizagem significativa. Ensino de Geografia. SIGNIFICATIVE LEARNING IN GEOGRAPHY TEACHING: the benefits of Problem Based Learning through a case study ABSTRACT The Problem Based Learning - PBL, because it is a student centered teaching methodology, can have very favorable results because it actively promotes self learning, teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, adoption of strategies to facilitate decision making and significative learning. Thus, we aim to discuss the characteristics of a meaningful learning experience in integrated secondary education, which was carried out on a subject of the Geography discipline and with the use of the PBL method in the form of case study. In order to do so, we first sought to build a significative learning environment, then the experience was carried out, and finally some evaluations were carried out to understand the contribution of the experience to significative student learning. Finally, it was observed that the adoption of active methodologies such as PBL in the form of a case study can produce favorable results for the development of essential skills so that the students, by itself, solve problems and produce their own knowledge enabling, from this significative learning in integrated secondary education. Cryptography is one of the important components in data and telecommunications, it is important when communicating over any entrusted medium, which includes just about any network, particularly the Internet. It is also one of the important courses in Information Technology courses. For now, students seem to be hard to understands because they are lack of interest in learning this course. This problem is caused by their awareness towards the application and the usage of cryptography. In this study, a different approach will be used to open the students’ eyes towards the importance cryptography and the usage of cryptography application in their daily life to increase their interest in cryptography along with their understandings in cryptography. This study will focus on an approach that will improve the teaching interest and their understanding of the student by using case study and student-centered learning approach which is the cooperative learning approach. A case study is developed to carry out the tasks that will make the students realized the importance of cryptography. In order to make sure that the students’ get better understanding towards cryptography, the cooperative learning practice will be implemented. At the end of this study, the result from the implementation of the case study and cooperative learning will be analyzed and evaluated. The tasks of the cooperative learning practice will be identified in this study and the effectiveness of the practice will be measure based on the tasks given. Finally, the effectiveness will be evaluated after the given tasks is finished. This evaluation will be the final result of this study whether the implementation of case study and cooperative learning practice is effective than traditional teaching method or vice versa.

This study discusses the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in teaching and learning the Malaysian Nationhood course at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). This course is a core course and should be taken as a prerequisite in the process of graduation. However, the significant challenge faced by instructors of the course is the course itself which is tedious and uninteresting. The number of students in classrooms and the traditional teaching approach caused students to feel bored and uninterested. PBL is a Student-Centered Learning (SCL) based model and it is able to produce a conducive learning environment. Aware of the constraints facing in delivering this course, the PBL model is applied to increase students’ interests and enhance the level of students’ achievement for this course. This study is a simple descriptive-analytical approach using information gathering through observation, SCL-focused activities and focuses group discussion. The study found that the method of SCL is able to increase the interest and level of achievement of the students in the Malaysian Nationhood course at UUM.

In this work the WIHIC (What is Happening In this Classroom) instrument was used to assess the types of interactions, from students' perspectives, that occur in two science classrooms in Trinidad & Tobago. It was the first attempt to use the WIHIC instrument in the research context. An exploratory case study research design in the quantitative paradigm was employed in the assessment. The findings reveal that classroom interactions were dominated by student-centered interactions that mapped onto the student cohesiveness and cooperation scales of the WIHIC instrument. A high level of interaction in the investigation and involvement scales was also determined. What was surprising however, was the low level of teacher supportive interactions and interactions which demonstrated teacher impartiality as reported from students' perspective.

In recent years, the OBE teaching concept has attracted much attention. Compared with traditional teaching, this learning outcome-oriented teaching method has a great advantage. It is widely used in engineering teaching, especially for civil engineering majors, which can effectively improve Teaching Quality. This article focuses on the teaching reform of civil engineering based on the OBE concept, expounds the overview and characteristics of the OBE education concept, compares the differences between the OBE teaching model and the traditional teaching model, and combines the current civil engineering major courses in higher vocational colleges. Practical issues are analyzed. On the premise that students are the center of the entire teaching activity, and guided by learning results, four suggestions are put forward for the teaching reform of civil engineering based on the OBE concept, in order to truly improve the engineering students’ Core literacy promotes the training process of engineering professionals in my country.
