Establish a CFD simulation interface for compressor aerodynamic analysis based on general CFD software. The simulation interface includes data format, process and interface standard. Data format based on CGNS is built for cross-platform restoring and retrieving mass data. The designing of process references the process of general CFD analysis and the compressor aerodynamic analysis. The interface standard is used to import and the parameters and export them into corresponding profiles according to the demand of different computation modules. Validation results for the simulation interface using a single-stage transonic axial compressor fan ATS-2 shows that the setting process is more convenient and achieves a certain degree of automation.

The building information modelling (BIM) methodology supports collaborative works, based on the centralization of all information in a federated BIM model and on an efficient level of interoperability between BIM-based platforms. Concerning the structure design, the interoperability capacity of the most used software presents limitations that must be identified and alternative solutions must be proposed. This study analyzes the process of transfer of structure models between modeling and structure analysis tools. Distinct building cases were performed in order to recognize the type of limitations verified in the transfer processes concerning two-way data flow between several software. The study involves the modeling software ArchiCAD 2020, Revit 2020, and AECOsim 2019 and the structure analyzes tools SAP 2020, Robot 2020, and ETABS 22020. The transfer processes are realized in two ways: using the native data format; using a universal standard data transfer, the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) format. The level of maturity of BIM in structure design is still relatively low, caused essentially by interoperability problems, but despite the limitations detected, this study shows throughout the development of several building case, that the methodology has clear advantages in the development of the structure project.

In recent years, terahertz imaging systems and techniques have been developed and have gradually become a leading frontier field. With the advantages of low radiation and clothing-penetrable, terahertz imaging technology has been widely used for the detection of concealed weapons or other contraband carried on personnel at airports and other secure locations. This paper aims to detect these concealed items with deep learning method for its well detection performance and real-time detection speed. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of terahertz images, an effective detection system is proposed in this paper. First, a lots of terahertz images are collected and labeled as the standard data format. Secondly, this paper establishes the terahertz classification dataset and proposes a classification method based on transfer learning. Then considering the special distribution of terahertz image, an improved faster region-based convolutional neural network (Faster R-CNN) method based on threshold segmentation is proposed for detecting human body and other objects independently. Finally, experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method for terahertz image detection.

In this study, composite metastable (Ti0.49Al0.49Y0.02)N, (Ti0.44Al0.44Cr0.1Y0.02)N and (Ti0.34Al0.34Cr0.3Y0.02)N coatings were respectively deposited on a wrought martensite steel 1Cr11Ni2W2MoV for aero-engine compressor blades by arc ion plating technique with a pulse substrate bias. All the coatings have B1NaCl phase structure with a (220) preferred orientation and dense structures. The introduction of chromium into the coatings gave rise to a minute shrinkage of crystal lattice and a decrease of crystal size. Annealed at 800°C, Oxidation-resistance of the coatings improved with increased Cr content. But heat-treated at 900°C, the incorporation of Cr gave rise to obvious decrease of oxidation-resistance.

Aero-engine core compressor preliminary design strategy has been successfully applied to the advanced design of gas turbines compressors. However, few researchers have addressed the application of the aero-engine core compressor preliminary design strategy in the preliminary optimal design of industrial process compressors. Here we embedded the aero-engine core compressor preliminary design strategy into a preliminary optimal design method, in which six types of design parameters widely used to define the aero-engine compressor configuration, i.e., aspect ratio, solidity, reaction, rotation speed, outlet axial Mach number, and inlet radius ratio, were used as the design variables. The 4-stage, 5-stage, 6-stage, and 7-stage compressor configuration with the same overall design requirements for a large-scale air separation main compressor were preliminarily optimized by the developed method, in which the 4-stage design has a stage pressure rise level of current aero-engine core compressors, whereas the 7-stage design has that of current industrial process compressors. The optimized compressor configurations were then refined with the throughflow-based detailed design method and finally verified with computational fluid dynamic simulations. It is found that the developed method can optimize design efficiency and accurately predict aerodynamic performance of compressors in a few minutes. Several design guidelines for the advanced industrial process compressors were also identified. This work is of significance in extending aero-engine core compressor design strategy to the design of advanced industrial process compressors.

Introduction: Clinical reports show that cerebral blood flow conditions are indicative of cerebral vascular disease. While methods for characterizing cerebral vascular flow have been extensively reported in the past, comparative analyses between direct flow measurements (DM) and computational flow dynamic (CFD) analysis remain limited. We hypothesize that flow data can be reliably measured both directly and through CFD in normal vessels. Methods: A left heart replicator was used as a realistic cardiac pump which maintained systolic pressure at 120 mmHg and diastolic pressure at 80 mmHg. A stenotic model with 50% stenosis for the ICA was connected to the replicator. A ComboWire was used for DM and recorded flow pressure and velocity. CFD was used to study flow. Results: In areas at the proximal end of the stenosis, the pressure and flow velocity derived from DM and CFD were in good agreement. At the end of systole and diastole, DM pressure were 145.42 mmHg and 73.53 mmHg, respectively. CFD simulation for the same system obtained the pressure at the end of systole and diastole of 147.16 mmHg and 74.64 mmHg, respectively. The velocity data collected from DM was at 15.40 cm/s and 7.74 cm/s for systolic flow and mean flow velocity. CFD measured flow was 17.85 cm/s and 11.37 cm/s, respectively. In areas at the distal end of the stenosis, pressure data showed good agreement between DM and CFD analysis. The DM were 138 and 70.81 mmHg at the end of systole and diastole, respectively; CFD simulation yielded 145.95 and 74.51 mmHg, respectively. Variations in the velocity data were observed at this location (Fig, pink arrows). Conclusion: DM of pressure showed good agreement with CFD simulation in all areas of the vessel. DM of velocity using the flow wire were highly affected by location of the measurement. CFD analysis can provide more consistent flow data for flow information collection along the vasculature.

AbstractAs the WET moves to CCD systems, we move away from the uniformity of the standard WET photometer into an arena where each system can be radically different. There are many possible CCD photometry systems that can fulfil the requirements of a WET instrument, but each of these will have their own unique native data format. During XCov22, it became readily apparent that the WET requires a defined data format for all CCD data that arrives at HQ. This paper describes the proposed format for the next generation of WET data; the final version will be the default format for XQED, the new photometry package discussed elsewhere in these proceedings.

The emerging geospatial technologies in earth and space science informatics have led to the advancement in developing international standards for geospatial interoperability. In the last few years, two main trends are making disruptions in geospatial applications; mobile and context sharing. Geospatial data format used in mobile GIS to support advance mobile application is challenged. This is due to the lack of interoperability, open-standard, cross platform and standard APIs for access and management. For instance, most mobile GIS developments are application-dependent, contains redundant geospatial data, consume large storage capacity, and require custom applications for data translation. Based on these issues, new OGC file format named GeoPackage will enable greater geospatial data sharing on mobile and web platform. This data format is an open standard, non-proprietary, platform-independent, container for distribution, and direct use of all kinds of geospatial data will increase cross-platform interoperability, geospatial applications and web services. This presents a comprehensive review of mobile GIS hence, the concept of GeoPackage as a modern geospatial tool was discussed, while its relevance in contemporary geospatial technology are highlighted.

Air conditioning is a significant part of the contemporary life. A lot of the medical papers confirmed the influence of the thermal comfort to the operability. The aim of the article is to understand the system of the building ventilation with the HRV unit. For this purpose, the CFD simulation model was elaborated. The ANSYS Fluent allows to calculate the heat balance of the room with secondary thermal gains like computers, monitors and humans. The results of the simulation approved that in the modern thermal passive houses heat balance calculations should take into account secondary thermal gains from the installed equipment. Also the air circulation in the closed area and the influence of the different barriers installed in the laboratory were investigated.

Amphibious design of combat vehicle has become a challenging task in the context of increase in Gross Vehicle weight (GVW) of present generation combat vehicles due to demand for high protection levels and higher capacity engine and transmission, incorporation of multiple weapon systems, increased ammunition storage and larger addition of electrical and electronic items. Development of combat vehicles is complex and very expensive, and normally limited with less number of prototypes. The scale modeling and CFD analysis offers a viable solution to accomplish the amphibian design of a combat vehicle with adequate confidence before manufacturing the actual prototype. In the present work, an approach involving experimental towing test using scaled model and CFD simulation has been used to carry out the amphibious design of an 8X8, wheeled, combat vehicle with GVW of 22 ton. In this work, a 1/5thscaled model of the vehicle was manufactured and tested in the towing tank at different test speeds for drag and stability analysis. CFD analysis was carried out on the full scale model to gain adequate details about the dynamics of vehicle in the water in addition to drag estimation. Good correlation has been found in drag values and the flow patterns obtained from towing tank tests and CFD simulations.
