On account of the end splitting and dropping thread problem for domestic winding machine during tassel thread production process at present, an intelligent system with subdivision driving module TB6560AHQ and SANYO stepping motor was designed, which adopted the ATMEL89S52 MCU as the core controller. The system achieved precise control of some parameters during the course of tassel thread winding such as torque, direction of rotation, speed, cycle laps, twist, etc. It also reduced the worker’s labour intensity and improved the production quality and efficiency of the tassel manufacturing, moreover, this winding machine has the advantages of simple structure, high torque, high reliability and low cost. It can meet the various control requirements for different tassel thread winding and have a considerable market prospect.

Noninvasive acoustic blood volume measurement system for the POLVAD prosthesisThe following paper presents researches concerning a noninvasive real-time blood volume measurement system applied in POLVAD prosthesis. The system is based on the acoustic Helmholtz resonator principle. The basis of the measurement method, followed by the preliminary tests of the possibility of incorporating the Helmholtz resonance idea into the POLVAD prosthesis is shown. The paper includes the actual measurement system construction and test results, both static and dynamic obtained at the Foundation for Cardiac Surgery Development in Zabrze, Poland. Conclusions and future plans are presented too.

Cylindricity is a kind of three-dimensional form distortion of a cylinder. An accurate in situ measurement of cylindricity is relatively complex because measuring and reconstructing cylindrical profile and evaluating out-of-cylindricity should be involved. Any method of in situ measuring cylindricity must solve a common issue, i.e., to eliminate spindle error motions and carriage error motions during measurement and reconstruction. Thus, error separation techniques have played an important role in in situ cylindricity measurement through multipoint detections. Although several valuable five-point methods for in situ measurement of cylindrical profile have been proposed up to present, namely the parallel scan, spiral scan, and V-block scan, there are obvious differences in many aspects, such as the arrangement of probes, error separation model, reconstruction method, adaptability to service environment, accuracy and reliability in practical application, etc. This paper presents the evaluation of their advantages and disadvantages in theory and the actual measurement based on the standard ISO 12180. Suggestions for best meeting the requirements of modern manufacturing and the most prospective one for industrial applications are also given.

Vibration-Based Condition Monitoring (VBCM) provides essential data to perform Condition-Based Maintenance for efficient, optimal, reliable, and safe industrial machinery operation. However, equipment required to perform VBCM is often relatively expensive. In this paper, a low-cost vibration measurement system based on a microcontroller platform is presented. The FRDM K64F development board was selected as the most suitable for fulfilling the system requirements. The industrial environment is highly contaminated by noise (electromagnetic, combustion, airborne, sound borne, and mechanical noise). Developing a proper antialiasing filter to reduce industrial noise is a real challenge. In order to validate the developed system, evaluations of frequency response and phase noise were carried out. Additionally, vibration measurements were recorded in the industry under different running conditions and machine configurations. Data were collected simultaneously using a standard reference system and the low-cost vibration measurement system. Results were processed using Fast Fourier Transform and Welch’s method. Finally, a low-cost vibration measurement system was successfully created. The validation process demonstrates the robustness, reliability, and accuracy of this research approach. Results confirm a correlation between signal frequency spectrum obtained using both measurement systems. We also introduce new guidelines for practical data storage, communications, and validation process for vibration measurements.

There are few reports on high rotational speed measurement of brushless direct current (DC) motors based on giant magneto-inductive effect. In this study, a rotational speed measurement system based on giant magneto-inductive effect is established for measuring the rotational speeds of DC motors. Successive sawtooth waves are found when rotating shaft is close to the GMI sensor. Through using the magneto-inductive sensing system, different high rotational speeds (1500∼24000 r/min) of the motor are accurately measured. Therefore, this giant magneto-inductive sensor may be used for high rotational speed measurement of motors.

The current Synchro-to-Digital conversion (S/DC)with high reliability, high accuracy and widely used in the military field, but it has high cost and low tracking speed, not suitable for high speed and low-cost industrial applications. In this work, the principle of synchro and the harmonics of the synchro output signals are investigated. Multifunction S/DC software design using FFT algorithm and IIR digital filter technology is proposed. It Integrated many functions, such as angle position, harmonics analysis and filter, it also improved measurement accuracy and speed, reduced the cost. The simulation results by Matlab show that the method is feasible.

The rev of vehicle transmission is an important parameter to reflect the performance of the power train, and the measurement accuracy will have an influence on the implement of electronic control technology in transmission system. Based on the analysis of common rev measurement methods, aiming at the feature of wide range of rev during HMCVT test, a method of rev equal precision measurement is been put forward.

Induction motors are broadly used as drivers of a large variety of industrial equipment. A proper measurement of the motor rotation speed is essential to monitor the performance of most industrial drives. As an example, the measurement of rotor speed is a simple and broadly used industrial method to estimate the motor’s efficiency or mechanical load. In this work, a new low-cost non-intrusive method for in-field motor speed measurement, based on the spectral analysis of the motor audible noise, is proposed. The motor noise is acquired using a smartphone and processed by a MATLAB-based routine, which determines the rotation speed by identifying the rotor shaft mechanical frequency from the harmonic spectrum of the noise signal. This work intends to test the hypothesis that the emitted motor noise, like mechanical vibrations, contains a frequency component due to the rotation speed which, to the authors’ knowledge, has thus far been disregarded for the purpose of speed measurement. The experimental results of a variety of tests, from no load to full load, including the use of a frequency converter, found that relative errors on the speed estimation were always lower than 0.151%. These findings proved the versatility, robustness, and accuracy of the proposed method.

The principal objective of this paper is to demonstrate the capability of high speed measurement and acquisition equipment design and build in the laboratory at a very low cost. The presented architecture employees highly integrated market components eliminating thus the complexity of the hardware and software stack. The key element of the proposed system is a Hi-Speed USB to Serial/FIFO development module that is provided with full software and driver support for most popular operating systems. This module takes over every single task needed to get the data from the A/D to the user software gluelessly and transparently, solving this way the most difficult problem in data acquisition systems which is the fast and reliable communication with a host computer. Other ideas tested and included in this document offer Hall Effect measuring solutions using some excellent features and very low cost ICs widely available on the market today.
