In this paper, the performance of the constructed rapid infiltration system ( CRI ) for removal of organic pollutants of domestic sewage was investigated. The results showed that the system had higher efficiency of CODCr removal. The removal rate of CODCr was 86.1% by constructed rapid infiltration system without carbonized sludge , 91.8% with carbonized sludge. The system overcomes the disadvantage of traditional wastewater rapid infiltration land treatment system ( RI ) that the hydraulic load is low, but retains the advantages that the solution process are the low cost, the ease of processing, less energy consumption and good water quality.

Domestic sewage was treated by adopting flocculation, anaerobic and microaerobic combined process under normal temperature. The result demonstrates: total hydraulic retention time is 5.5h (chemical flocculation 1.0h, UASB reactor 2.0h and MUSB reactor 2.5h). UASB reactor can achieve anaerobic sludge granulation under normal temperature and is fairly feasible for low concentration domestic sewage treatment. Compared with single stage UASB reactor, hydraulic retention time of flocculation-UASB combined technique reduces from 4h to 2h. COD removal rate rises from 45% to 50%-60% and suspended COD is mainly removed. DO of microaerobic MUSB technique after anaerobic treatment is 0.2mg/L-0.5mg/L with air and water ratio of 1:1. Effluent quality is stable, in accordance with first standard of Synthetical Draining Standard of Sewage, GB8978—1996.

In this study, a high-efficiency magnetic heavy metal flocculant MF@AA was prepared based on carboxymethyl chitosan and magnetic Fe3O4. It was characterized by SEM, FTIR, XPS, XRD and VSM, and the Cu(II) removal rate was used as the evaluation basis for the preparation process. The effects of AMPS content, total monomer concentration, photoinitiator concentration and reaction time on the performance of MF@AA flocculation to remove Cu(II) were studied. The characterization results show that MF@AA has been successfully prepared and exhibits good magnetic induction characteristics. The synthesis results show that under the conditions of 10% AMPS content, 35% total monomer concentration, 0.04% photoinitiator concentration, and 1.5 h reaction time, the best yield of MF@AA is 77.69%. The best removal rate is 87.65%. In addition, the response surface optimization of the synthesis process of MF@AA was performed. The optimal synthesis ratio was finally determined as iron content 6.5%, CMFS: 29.5%, AM: 53.9%, AMPS: 10.1%. High-efficiency magnetic heavy metal flocculant MF@AA shows excellent flocculation performance in removing Cu(II). This research provides guidance and ideas for the development of efficient and low-cost flocculation technology to remove Cu(II) in wastewater.

The hybrid membrane bioreactor (HMBR) has been applied in ship domestic sewage treatment under high volumetric loading for ship space saving. The mechanism and influence factors on the efficiency, including hydraulic retention time (HRT), dissolved oxygen (DO) of chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal were investigated. The HMBR's average COD removal rate was up to 95.13% on volumetric loading of 2.4 kgCOD/(m3•d) and the COD concentration in the effluent was 48.5 mg/L, far below the International Maritime Organization (IMO) discharge standard of 125 mg/L. DO had a more remarkable effect on the COD removal efficiency than HRT. In addition, HMBR revealed an excellent capability of resisting organics loading impact. Within the range of volumetric loading of 0.72 to 4.8 kg COD/(m3•d), the effluent COD concentration satisfied the discharge requirement of IMO. It was found that the organics degradation in the aeration tank followed the first-order reaction, with obtained kinetic parameters of vmax (2.79 d−1) and Ks (395 mg/L). The original finding of this study had shown the effectiveness of HMBR in organic contaminant degradation at high substrate concentration, which can be used as guidance in the full scale of the design, operation and maintenance of ship domestic sewage treatment devices.

In this study, nano-sized low cost titanium dioxide (TFS) was prepared using sludge from sewage treatment and performance was verified. To remove air pollutants, the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue and efflorescence characteristics is assessed according to the mixing ratio of the nano-sized TFS by applying them to concrete sidewalk blocks. The photocatalytic degradation performance of concrete sidewalk blocks shows that the methylene blue removal rate of specimens containing 2.5%, 5%, and 10% of nano-sized TFS is 29%, 27%, and 38%, respectively. When the nano-sized TFS is mingled on the surface of the sidewalk block, the performance of anti-corrosion and antifouling showed excellency mainly due to the moisture blocking derived by the antifouling function of photocatalysts.

Calcium silicate hydrate gel (CSH) was synthesized by calcium acetate and sodium silicate. The structure and morphology of CSH were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Scanning electron microscopy. The adsorption performance of CSH was measured by static adsorption method. The results show that CSH has porous structure and large specific surface area, and the optimum reaction conditions is the reaction temperature of 25°C and calcium-silicon ratio of 1.2. It has the maximum adsorption capacity of more than 150 mg/g and the removal rate of more than 86% with Cu2+. And it shows the excellent adsorption performance, even when the concentration of Cu2+ is less than 200mg/L, the removal rate is above 90%. The research may provide a low-cost and high-efficiency adsorbent.

In the paper we first discussed the principle of wastewater treatment by iron-carbon micro electrolysis. And the experimental methods were stated clear soon afterwards. Then we designed the micro electrolysis orthogonal experiments. Discussion of influences of related factors on waste water treatment followed. The main factors are cerium ion additive quantity, ratio of La3+/Ce4+ and pH in wastewater. The experimental results show that 1) The sequence of factors influence on wastewater micro-electrolysis treatment is Ce4+ > pH > La3+ > iron/carbon ratio; 2) The lanthanum and cerium ions have a synergistic effect in the wastewater treatment, and cerium ion plays a main role; 3) When pH is 6, COD removal rate arrives at maximum 89%, however when the pH is in the case of too high or too low, the effect of sewage treatment is not good.

The biological treatment method is widely used in Lithuania due to its high efficiency, low cost and suitability for treating various types of wastewater. After technological processes various mineral substances, such as chlorides and sulphates, get into water bodies. These substances are not removed from wastewater by the biological treatment method. The purpose of this study is to determine the concentrations of chlorides and sulphates, investigate the influence of enzyme preparations upon quality and energy consumption and assess energy changes in the trophic food chain during biological treatment. To analyse the mineral salt influence of the biooxidation process a series of laboratory tests was carried out: biochemical oxygen consumption (BOD), activated sludge concentration and other indexes. It is found experimentally that a 400 mg/1 concentration of chlorides disarranges the activity of microorganisms, and at a 700 mg/1 concentration active sludge is no longer suitable for biological treatment. Also, we investigated the effect of a ferment preparation “Roebic” on effluence of sewage treatment. In a tank with an enzyme the total amount of energy after treatment increases by 5–30 %. It is determined by calculating the accumulation of energy in an active‐sludge system that an enzyme preparation increases the energy levels of the system.

A continuous flow chemical reactor was constructed to study the dephosphorization effect on the effluent of the oxygen-limited internal-loop fluidized membrane bioreactor (IF-MBR) for domestic sewage treatment. Removal effect of total phosphorus (TP) by four coagulants of AlCl3, FeCl3, polyaluminum ferric chloride (PAFC) and polyaluminium chloride (PAC) was evaluated. Results showed that when the ratio of coagulants to TP was 5 (coagulants in terms of Fe and Al), the removal efficiency of TP by FeCl3 was 92.5% and the addition of FeCl3 resulted in an increase in the chromaticity of the effluent. PAC and PAFC had good removal of TP, and the removal percentage achieved 96.2 and 97.4, respectively. However, the flocs they produced were small and light, and the performance in settlement was poor. AlCl3 performed well as a phosphorus removal agent, the removal rate of TP reached 97.4%, and the flocs were large and dense. Based on this, AlCl3 was the best choice for IF-MBR and then the experiment further optimized the Al/P ratio. Results showed that when the Al/P ratio was above 1:1, the effluent TP concentration was lower than 1mg/L; when the ratio was higher than 2.5:1, the effluent TP was lower than 0.5mg/L.
