Project overheads are allocated on a percentage basis to project costs and common to maintain multiple cost objects, but cannot directly be distributed to construction activities. Construction project overheads have to be identified their cost behaviours properly in order to sustain Cost Management and Controlling Practices (CMCPs) during the construction stage. The literature review method identified forty seven (47)project overheads and categorised into four hierarchies (unit, batch, project, and facility levels). Therefore, the identification of project overheads should enable a sustainable improvement to the CMCPs in construction projects.

Project management frameworks describe the preferred approaches to project quality management, as well as applicable methods and tools. Despite this, quality problems in the construction project are still widespread. This study aimed to identify crucial quality-related factors in construction project management and find relations between them, to help researchers and project managers better respond to quality issues. A systematic literature review (SLR) was used to identify previous studies on quality-related factors. Literature review and further quantitative analysis revealed that quality-related factors are related to three categories: Quality of project process, quality of organisational processes, and quality of results (products), which together create the quality of the whole construction project. The results highlight quality-related factors (14 related to the quality of processes, 6 to quality of an organisation, and 13 to quality of products) that should be taken into account in further research, as well as planning and executing construction projects. Their inclusion at the planning stage should help project managers, sponsors, and steering committees avoid or minimise quality-related problems. Moreover, this study sheds an interesting light on quality. We found that the quality of processes and quality of an organisation has precedence over the final product quality. Based on the results of the study, structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to create a null model that will be the starting point for further research in the construction enterprises.

The project management information system (PMIS) has recently been developed by using the IT technology in order to implement advanced information management technology to construction industry in Korea. The PMIS has been applied not only to domestic construction projects, but also to some overseas projects executed by Korean construction companies. This study was performed to develop the PMIS that is tailored to the US construction IT market. The US construction IT market has been monopolized by the US-based IT companies, but other companies are recently emerging with competitive technology and market strategy. As a preceding study, existing systems commercially available were analyzed, and the required features of the PMIS were identified by analyzing the core elements of contract, process and cost management for construction projects in the US. The PMIS then was developed based on the aforementioned analysis results. The system includes the document management module with an internal electronic approval system, the cost-plus-based automatic labor cost calculation module, and the progress management module to support the integrated project cost management. In addition, the functionality of the developed system was verified by construction project management experts in the US via questionnaire survey. The PMIS, which was developed in this study, is expected to be applied not only to the US construction IT market as a system specialized for the US construction industry, but also to other overseas markets in the future.

Construction project Development is an event that has high risks of accidents. This could be seen in many construction projects that use sophisticated tools. Although equipped with security system, the risks are still high. The point of Occupational Health and Safety is to protect workers, and to step up the work effectively and efficient. Accidents in workplace happened because of the improper organization and management of the company. Therefore, in Construction project Development, Occupational Health and Safety is needed. The point in making this article is to prevent any accident in workplace with applying the Occupational Health and Safety that is suitable with the Constitution. This research is using the literature review method. The result of this article emphasizes in Occupational Health and Safety’s role as a right way to prevent work accidents in construction project.

Delays can be well-defined as the escalation of the stipulated time for the completion of the project. Delay is always the major loss to any construction project. In construction projects delay is a very usual thing and it can have an adverse effect on the project’s time and cost. As construction is one of the largest economic activity in India, the effects of delay are still in millions, which surely decreases the GDP of the country. Delay makes the process tardy and management of delay is extremely challenging as most of the projects do not meet the expected requirement and fails to perform within time. Therefore, various types and causes of delays should be studied accurately. There are many researches on construction delays but they talk about the wide-ranging reasons of delay, so there stays a high requirement of a notable and feasible study on delays at different stages of construction process in India. The aim of the paper is to identify the causes of delays at different stages of construction through questionnaire survey in Indian construction industry. Analytical tools used in this research are relative importance index (RII) and spearman’s rank correlation coefficient to rank the sources of delay with respect to its occurrence in the various stages of the construction project. The study concludes based on the correlation coefficient analysis between the construction stages, that the delays associated with before-construction stage is least related, with after-construction stage is third highly related, with construction stage is second highly related and delays associated with average/overall construction is highly related.

The selection of caculation method of the artificial man-days unit price of power construction projects is the focus and hotspot problem of the parties of power construction project and cost management departments. With domestic typical provinces, cities, and industry as the research object, this paper carried out case study and comprehensive analysis of three typical estimate methods of the basic principle, characteristics, application scope etc. The paper gives reference for the selection of estimate method of artificial man-days unit price of power construction project and this research conclusion to estimate method has strong pertinence and guidance.

Construction project costs are often related to the availability of construction materials and proximity to the work site. So this paper studied the effect of transportation of materials on the cost of construction projects in the desert and identified the increment percentages of materials cost in comparison with main cities and re-accounted the BOQ items prices in the desert cities. The results showed that the cost of some works may be doubled in the desert areas due to lack of construction materials and high transport costs.

Effective cost management is one of the prime requirements for successful completion of construction projects. However, deviation from initially planned cost had been prevalent in construction projects. Cost variation has become a frequent phenomenon in construction projects and Malaysian building projects has no exclusion. This paper aims to establish the critical factors instigating cost variation in Malaysian building projects. Extensive literature review and field survey were two main methods for conducting this study. 34 factors causing cost variation were identified through deep literature review. A questionnaire survey based on identified factors, was carried out among construction stakeholders: clients, consultants and contractors involved in handling of building projects in Malaysia. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS V22 software, which enabled the ranking of factors based on their Mean Value. The results of the survey indicated that (1) fluctuation in cost of materials, (2) improper planning, (3) Incompetent main contractors, (4) poor site management, (5) and client financial problems were top five critical factors causing cost variation in building projects. The inferences drawn in this study can serve as a guide lines for construction stakeholders to achieve effective cost management in building projects.

Construction project management and cost management is a difficult process that affects the overall success of construction projects. The success of a construction project can be assessed according to key performance indicators (KPIs). Cost savings and cost optimization over the life of a construction project is one of these KPIs. Cost management is largely performed through intelligent information technology in the construction industry. Information systems and information technologies have seen an increase in use in the management of construction projects. The same goes for cost management. Several studies mentioned in the paper point to this increase in use in recent years also in the management of costs at various stages. Many studies point to the use of information technology and software applications in the field of cost management. Still, to a large extent, there are no surveys focused on the analysis of the impact and impact factor of information technology on cost savings or cost optimization in various phases of construction projects. The research discusses the issue of the impact of information technology on cost management in various phases of a construction project. The main goal of the research is to analyze the influence of information technology factors on cost savings and optimization in individual phases of a construction project. Several statistical methods were used in the research. The resulting model of information technology impact factor was created based on data processing and the use of the AHP method.
