This study is part of the concerns that the authors have had in recent years, representing an extension of a research project funded consisting in modelling representative cold rolling processes of profiles. This paper presents a comparative analysis of quality of the superficial layer of a circular profile (grooves) obtained by two different processes: radial rolling with two roller tools and turning with radial feed. Also, the two processes are compared from the viewpoint of economic efficiency. The materials used for the experiments are frequently used to obtain pieces with circular grooves: two types of cementation steel and two types of heat treatable steel. The characteristics of the superficial layer which describe its quality and which are comparatively analyzed in connection to the two processes are: roughness, microstructure and micro-hardness. The economic efficiency of the two processes was assessed by means of the costs implied and the productivity of processing. The interpretation of the results obtained enabled stressing the advantages to generate circular grooves by cold radial rolling from the point of view of the quality of the superficial layer of pieces, as well as the limits of the use of this process from the viewpoint of economic efficiency.

Background: Currently, the car, water, railway, air and pipe transports are used for cargo and goods transportation. Each kind of cargo transport has its own specific competitive advantages that provide its most effective application at various stages of logistics chain. The economic efficiency of cargo transportation influences the overall economic efficiency, in particular, the gross domestic product. The quality of economic growth as applied to transport branch and its input to the national economy is relevant, since with the current organisation of different transport modes interaction, there are still high transaction costs. Aim: Study of influence of various modes of transport, including maglev transport, on the economy and economic growth. Methods: Theoretical and empirical. The paper considers the influence of various modes of transport, that operate in the cargo transport sphere, on the countrys economy. The comparison of existing modes of transport with the maglev transport from the point of view of desired effects is made. Results: The maglev transport possesses new properties and advantages, which makes it possible to view is as viable and able to provide a qualitative economic growth and resource-based economy if realised. Conclusion: The most efficient use of resources, the consumption of which should at least not increase and at most decrease, is achieved with the introduction of maglev transport into the transport system, as its economic properties already now excel those of the majority of other types of transport. It is obvious, as to the experts, that in transition to resource-based economy the maglev transport will be major transport for both cargo and passenger transit.

The economic context and the current guidelines of research and achievement of complex profiles are focussed on choosing that process which leads to obtaining high quality pieces with minimum costs. Circular grooves are complex surfaces often encountered on pieces in machine construction. They can be processed either by cutting or by cold plastic deformation. This paper presents by comparison a series of characteristics of a circular profile obtained by two different processes: profiled turning with radial feed and cold rolling with two wedge tools. The characteristics analysed refer to the roughness of the profile obtained, the microstructure and micro-hardness of the superficial layer generated. In the experiments two types of materials with different compositions and properties were used: cementing steel AISI 1015 and improving steel AISI 5140, usually used for the construction of pieces with circular grooves. Processing by rolling was performed with two types of wedges: with a long area of deformation and low slope angle and with a short area of deformation and high slope angle. The results of the study allow establishing the conditions to apply each one of the two processes analysed, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages, as it results from the comparison of the characteristics of the profile obtained.

The actual trend of civil engineering leads to quality improving of housing and to saving of all participated energies. Airtightness of buildings´ envelope constructions has an important job in the point of view of energy savings and energy economy. Undesirable air flow occurs through joints, cracks and leaks in building envelopes. It has a significant influence to final quality of an indoor environment and energy demands and needs of warmth for heating resulting from it. The paper presents results of chosen airtightness measurements made in family and apartment buildings in the Slovak Republic, the achieved level of airtightness by various construction systems and outer walls, as well as which impact for air changes has location and selection of materials used for airtightness layer in the construction of outer walls at pressure difference of 50 Pa (n50).

Acute traumatic perforation of the tympanic membrane occupies a significant place in the structure of the pathology of the middle ear, since «persistent» perforation of the tympanic membrane is the main cause of chronic inflammation in the middle ear, leading to hearing loss and reducing the quality of life of patients. «Persistent» perforation of the tympanic membrane, according to various authors, is formed in 84-392 cases per 10,000 population, so restoring the integrity of the damaged tympanic membrane is one of the main tasks of reconstructive otosurgery. Most authors are of the opinion that it is advisable to close the traumatic eardrum defect early. To date, many ways to close it have been developed. In modern otorhinolaryngology there is extensive experience in using various methods of myringoplasty using various materials for traumatic perforation of the tympanic membrane. However, such a wide variety of plastic techniques and the variety of materials used for this indicates an unresolved problem of closing the perforation of the tympanic membrane. To date, many works have been published that confirm the effectiveness of the use of blood plasma enriched with platelet growth factors in plastic surgery, cosmetology, traumatology, and dentistry. The result of exposure to blood plasma enriched with growth factors is the expression of proteins that regulate chemotaxis, adhesion, cell proliferation, angiogenesis, cell differentiation and the synthesis of extracellular matrix components. Blood plasma enriched with growth factors is autologous (biocompatible), safe from the point of view of the transfer of infectious pathogens. Thus, it can be assumed that the use of plasma enriched with growth factors during surgery during closure of acute perforation of the tympanic membrane will lead to accelerated tissue regeneration and, consequently, a reduction in the length of the postoperative period, and improved treatment outcomes. The use of this method is possible even in a day hospital.

Modern research in the field of chondroitin sulfate chemical composition is considered. Clinical efficiency and safety are shown to depend on the nature and quality of the raw material used, ways of its technological processing and the degree of purification. The composition of chemical compounds (CC) variable is stated to represent the mixture of 2 main isomeric forms: chondroitin 4-sulfate and chondroitin 6-sulfate. In the animal tissue chondroitin 4-sulfate dominates, the content of which is 70 %; the content of chondroitin 6-sulfate is 30 %. The cartilages of sharks and other hydrobionts have got low content of chondroitin 4-sulfate (10 %) and chondroitin 6-sulfate 80 %. Complex polymeric structure and instability of CC composition make the problem of drug standardization on its basis complicated. The impurities encountered in substances are considered. The impurities are divided into several groups: related impurities, technological or mechanical ones uncharacteristic of CC. Comparative analysis of requirements for raw material from the point of view of normative documentation of different countries is carried out and their considerable difference is detected. It has been shown that for raising pharmacological activity the producer of drugs must take into account all the parameters of CC including the structural composition, molecular weight and presence of impurities.
