The characteristics and the development restrict factors in large-diameter area of the traditional three-product heavy medium cyclone are described. The paper mainly describes the structure and principles of large-diameter & energy-saving more medium supplied gravity-fed three-product heavy medium cyclone. The simulation analysis of this cyclone (DWP type) is presented. The results show that this type of more medium supplied cyclone is better than the one medium supplied cyclone for it has a faster separation speed, high processing ability and better separation efficiency. The applications in field of the 3SNWX1500/1100-Ⅳ type cyclone which using the new technology indicated that there have energy-saving, a high output, a stable separation efficiency, a high precision and a significant economic benefits.

Smart city is a quickly developing approach that is powered by Internet of Things (IoTs), providing a number of services such as collaborative diagnosis and intelligent transportation. In general, in a smart city, the terminals have certain limitations that crib their capability of processing cross application and diversified services. Due to insufficient availability of resources that can be used to develop a collaborative smart city services, a novel methodology that is highly recommended is edge computing which holds facility with high processing ability in the city terminals. However, the threat of privacy and safety of information in the collaborative services is crucial in order to ensure a safer environment of edge computing. To address this privacy issue, we have proposed an offloading method that can be used in smarty city to strengthen the privacy, promote edge utility and improve offloading efficiency. In order to establish balance between the collaborative service and privacy preservation, edge computing is integrated with information entropy. The performance is further verified using simulation analysis in appropriate environment.

In this paper, taking Lushan West Sea highway green rest area in Jiangxi Province of China as the case study, the suitable types, applicability, advantages, and effective methods of solar lighting technologies for highway rest area were determined based on the analysis of characteristics of highway green rest area. It was proved that solar lighting technologies including the natural light guidance system, solar LED lighting, and maximizing natural light penetration were quite suitable for highway rest area in terms of lighting effects and energy and economic efficiency. The illuminance comparison of light guidance system with electrical lighting was made based on the on-site experiment. Also, the feasibility of natural light guidance system was well verified in terms of the lighting demand of the visitor centre in the rest area by the illuminance simulation analysis. The evaluation of the energy saving, economic benefits, and environmental effects of solar lighting technologies for highway rest area was, respectively, made in detail. It was proved that the application of solar technology for green lighting of highway rest facilities not only could have considerable energy saving capacity and achieve high economic benefits, but also make great contributions to the reduction of environment pollution.

Summary: Different shapes of individual subjective discount functions were compared using real measures of willingness to accept future monetary outcomes in an experiment. The two-parameter hyperbolic discount function described the data better than three alternative one-parameter discount functions. However, the hyperbolic discount functions did not explain the common difference effect better than the classical discount function. Discount functions were also estimated from survey data of Dutch households who reported their willingness to postpone positive and negative amounts. Future positive amounts were discounted more than future negative amounts and smaller amounts were discounted more than larger amounts. Furthermore, younger people discounted more than older people. Finally, discount functions were used in explaining consumers' willingness to pay for an energy-saving durable good. In this case, the two-parameter discount model could not be estimated and the one-parameter models did not differ significantly in explaining the data.

AbstractIn this article, we investigate the relation between gender and exoskeleton development through the lens of intersectionality theory. Exoskeleton users come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and genders. However, it is often the case that wearable robot engineers do not develop such devices primarily on the premise that the product should fit as many end users as possible. Instead, designers tend to use the one-size-fits-all approach – a design choice that seems legitimate from the return of an investment viewpoint but that may not do as much justice to end users. Intended users of exoskeletons have a series of user criteria, including height, weight, and health condition, in the case of rehabilitation. By having rigid inclusion criteria for whom the intended user of the technology can be, the exclusion criteria will grow in parallel. The implications and deep-rootedness of gender and diversity considerations in practices and structural systems have been largely disregarded. Mechanical and robot technology were historically seen as part of a distinct male sphere, and the criteria used today to develop new technology may reflect the biases that existed in another time that should no longer be valid. To make this technology available for all, we suggest some tools to designers and manufacturers to help them think beyond their target market and be more inclusive.

Windows energy saving design of residential buildings has increasingly got the attention of people. Through a large number of surveys and analysis of residential buildings in Chongqing and consumers personal experience, the author finds problems and deficiency, and then proposes principles of residential buildings sun shading reconstruction in Chongqing city. Taking the high-rise residential building of one university in Chongqing as reconstruction sample, selecting a specific time period, the author recalculates sun shading coefficient with and without sun shading by using Ecotect software to do simulation analysis. On the base of numerical simulation and theoretical analysis, the flow field of a conventional single-tangential-inlet Hydrocyclone and a newly put forward axial-symmetry double-tangential-inlet hydrocyclone were contrasted. The study shows that the inlet structure of the Hydrocylone has a great influence on the radial velocity of the flow field in the hydrocyclone and that the radial velocity in the hydrocyclone with single-tangential-inlet is not symmetry about the axis of the hydrocyclone; and on the other hand the radial velocity in the hydrocyclone with axial-symmetry double-tangential-inlet is symmetry about the axis of the hydrocyclone. The magnitude of the radial velocity of the flow in the hydrocyclone with single-tangential-inlet is greater than that in the hydrocyclone with axial-symmetry double-tangential-inlet hydrocyclone, which means the hydrocyclone with axial-symmetry double-tangential-inlet has greater capability than the rival one with single-tangential inlet. The symmetry about the axis of the hydrocyclone of the radial velocity means the radial velocities in the place where the radio is the same are constant, which means the hydrocyclone has a great separation efficiency. The conclusion is that changing the conventional hydrocyclone into the one with axial-symmetry double-tangential-inlet structure can offer greater separation capability and efficiency.

In penetration mechanics, the material parameters of the rod penetrator are very important factors which influence the effect of penetration. The effect of each parameter changes with the impact velocity. Simulation analysis of two models filled with tungsten alloy and tungsten carbide separately penetrating semi-infinite armor steel target at medium to high velocities has been made to quantitatively analyze the key roles that the density and hardness play. Simulation results indicate that a dividing line of velocity exists between the penetrations of two materials. Above the line, tungsten alloy rod with greater density has a distinct advantage with increasing velocity. Below the line, the advantage of tungsten carbide rod with greater hardness is significantly more with the decreasing velocity. In the process of penetration, penetration velocity decreases rapidly from a high value to zero. The simulation result provides quantitative analytic basis which can be used to prove that the penetrator composed of two different materials is better than the one composed of homogenous material.

A gas quenching process to deal with steel slag and its characteristics of the new technology was briefly introduced. The grinding characteristics, mineral phases of gas quenching steel slag and the potential economic benefits of using it as cement mixing material was studied by compared to heat-stew steel slag. The results indicated that the specific surface areas (S) and grinding times (t) of the gas quenching steel slag showed a first order exponential decay relationship. With the extension of time, the specific surface areas of heat-stew steel slag was tending to balance earlier than that of gas quenching steel slag; The energy consumption of gas quenching steel slag was much lower than that of heat-stew steel slag. Gas quenching steel slag was comprised of C2S, C3S, a certain amount of (Ca2(Al, Fe)2O5)and RO phase, but the content of RO phase was relatively low, which increased the grindability of the quenching steel slag, so that the grindability of gas quenching steel slag was much better than that of heat-stew steel slag. Gas quenching steel slag prepared for cement addictives would bring great economic benefits.
