Functional material specialty English teaching aims at fostering technical personnel with a high level of English proficiency; however, the goal is not achieved due to the boring teaching mode of imparting knowledge. In the paper, task-based language teaching, which is student-centered and characterized by learning by doing and using, is applied to the functional material specialty English to arouse initiatives of students through completing tasks in authentic situations, thus developing their English comprehensive abilities and professional skills. The task is to prepare sepiolite nanofibers by means of the high-speed air current superfine technique using natural sepiolite samples as raw materials and then make a presentation to describe the whole process of the experiment in English in the class. Teachers should monitor the progress of the task to help students complete the task successfully and develop a sense of responsibility to cultivate their practical ability of language using. Through the task, English comprehensive abilities and professional skills of students are improved, and specialty English teaching abilities of teachers is developed.

The purposes of this investigation were 1) to examine the findings of effectiveness of the process of learning by doing conducted with 5 linguistic graduate students at Srinakharinwirot University, Bangkok, Thailand 2) to develop the linguistic graduate students skill of designing English teaching materials and teaching English language and 3) to find out the efficient format of learning by doing used for training the student teachers skill of teaching English. The subjects of the study were 5 graduate students majoring in Linguistics at Srinakharinwirot University. This investigation is a qualitative research. The research instrument was a questionnaire designed to ask the students’ opinions towards learning by doing of constructing English teaching materials and teaching English language of their own and their friends. The qualitative data from brainstorming in a group discussion were taken into account. The results showed that the students get the benefits from the process of learning by doing. It can assist them to discover the knowledge of designing English teaching materials and English teaching skill by themselves. It is also found out that the efficient format for training teaching skill of the student teachers should integrate with the activity of brainstorming in a group discussion in every teaching-learning step i.e. from the preparation step when the principles and teching techniques of language teaching input of Audio Lingual Method, Cognitive Code Learning Theory and Communicative Language Teahing Approach were presented, during the step of adaping teaching materials and experimenting the practical teaching in school as well as after the students completed their self reflection and peer reflection.

The article considers the causes of environmental problems in the energy sector. The increased demand for energy resources and the increasing shortage of natural fuels are leading to the search for renewable energy sources. The prospects of energy transmission by microwave radiation without wires as an alternative to traditional energy sources are considered. The article provides information on the results of research on obtaining a high level of energy transfer by a microwave beam from a geostationary orbit to the earth's surface in the near future, as well as developments in the field of creating a solar space power plant (SSP). The results of research on the sintering of inorganic substances in an electromagnetic field are presented, the prospects for this direction in materials science are considered. The results of sintering natural raw materials in a microwave field are considered. The formation of nanoscale phases in sintered compositions has been established. The effect of a low-melting mineralizing additive on the sintering process is shown. The increased strength characteristics of the samples obtained by high-speed firing in the microwave electromagnetic field, the prospects for developments in this direction for various types of materials are noted.

Material industry is a basic industry in our national economy. In order to develop our new material industry, the independent innovation capability should be improved and the compound innovation talents of science and technology should be trained. The popularization education of the intellectual property should be brought into the quality education system of the college students. This is of important significance for developing the strategic new industry in the field of new material. Combined the training practice on the innovation talents of science and technology in the industries of the new energy and environment functional materials, the education mode of the intellectual property for the compound innovation talents of science and technology in the functional material industry was studied.

The objective of the research is to determine the relationship between academic motivation and the professional skills development in the specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. The study is quantitative and the design is non-experimental correlational translational. The results indicate that there is a high level relationship (0.914) between the independent academic motivation variable and the professional competences development in the Specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. In conclusion, motivation is directly related to the professional skills development in the specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. The research results conclude that there is a high relationship between the variables.

Abstract In view of the serious environmental pollution, which is the greatest problem the world is facing, and the continuous consumption of raw materials, it is imminent to search for green and sustainable resources. Lignin is an organic polymer that exists widely in nature, and if it can be transformed from traditional low-value waste product with low range of applications to functional materials with high application prospects, it can be of great significance to alleviate environmental pollution and shortage of fossil resources. One of the functional applications of lignin involves its use to fabricate composite with other polymeric materials, which can then be used to prepare membrane materials. This review summarizes the recent research and application progress of combining lignin with polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol, starch, cellulose, chitosan, and other polymeric materials to prepare composite membranes; and summarizes the future development direction of lignin-based composite membranes. We hope this review may provide a new perspective to the understanding of lignin-based composite membranes and a useful reference for future research.

As the number of online courses being offered at universities has increased dramatically over the past several years, the level of oversight has lagged and created an environment ripe for cheating. We find that students admit to higher levels of cheating in online classes and believe other students also cheat more relative to face-to-face classes. This is likely due to the lack of tools to combat online cheating and the lack of policy from universities. We know from previous studies that business colleges have a comparatively high level of cheating and the amount of cheating at universities has been rising. These trends threaten to create an unfair system where cheaters are rewarded with higher grades than non-cheaters, thereby encouraging otherwise honest students to cheat. This may result in declining and erratic knowledge among university graduates, diminishing the value of a university education.

Abstract The forces on marine and offshore structures are often affected by spilling breakers. The spilling breaker is characterized by a roller of mixed air and water with a forward speed approximately equal to the wave celerity. This high speed in the top of the wave has the potential to induce high wave loads on upper parts of the structures. This study analyzed the effect of the air content on the forces. The analyses used the Morison equation to examine the effect of the percentage of air on the forces. An experimental set-up was developed to include the injection of air into an otherwise calm water body. The air-injection did introduce a high level a turbulence. It was possible to assess the amount of air content in the water for different amounts of air-injection. In the mixture of air and water the force on an oscillating square cylinder was measured for different levels of air-content, — also in the case without air. The measurements indicated that force coefficients for clear water could be use in the Morison equation as long as the density for water was replaced by the density for the mixture of air and water.

Abstract: This paper aims to discuss the use of multimodality in English language teaching. The corpus consists of a set of activities based on a series of pictures related to the seizure of two trucks carrying US-bound migrants in 2011. Two different groups, comprised of pre-service and in-service English language teachers, took part in the research. The first part of the activity involved loose interpretations of the pictures and a discussion about migration nowadays. Afterwards, other activities were carried out based on Luke and Freebody's four-resources model (1990). Some preliminary analyses lead us to conclude that the reading of images is very much culturally sensitive and that multimodal ways of meaning making are becoming more powerful in the globalized, digital era, turning them into an important means for English teaching nowadays.
