Establishing the corresponding relationship between radius at tooth tip and tooth root fillet by the curvature of conjugate flank based on the generating method to manufacture for gears. According to the Visual Basic, a 2-D mathematical model of relationship between undercutting phenomena and modulus, teeth and modification coefficient of involute gear was built, and then simulated undercutting influence level caused by modulus, teeth and modification coefficient. The generating method dynamic processes, generating profile and the root drawing obtained by the simulation will directly reflect the influences that modulus, teeth and modification coefficient with gears meshing processions, and provided a reliable basis for design gear transmission and machining involute gears.

A novel torus-involute gear transmission is presented in this paper. There are two types of tooth profiles for torus-involute gears: convex tooth and concave tooth. Torus-involute gears are non-sensitive to axial misalignments and allow variable shaft angle without meshing interference. Based on revealing of essence for tooth profiles, introducing the parameter t and discretizing this type of gear into tiny linear continuous corrected gears, a design method is proposed. To testify whether the transmission ratio of torus-involute gear transmission is constant, simulation is implemented in commercial codes ADAMS. The computed results show that this novel gear drive can achieve a constant transmission ratio with variable shaft angle.

This article discusses the question of the possibility of improving the roll stability of partially filled tank vehicles while braking. We consider the dangers associated with partially filled tank vehicles. We give examples of the severe consequences of road traffic accidents that have occurred with tank vehicles carrying dangerous goods. We conducted an analysis of the dynamic processes of fluid flow in the tank and their influence on the basic parameters of the stability of vehicle. When transporting a partially filled tank due to the comparability of the mass of the empty tank with the mass of the fluid being transported, the dynamic qualities of the vehicle change so that they differ significantly from the dynamic characteristics of other vehicles. Due to large displacements of the center of mass of cargo in the tank there are additional loads that act vehicle and significantly reduce the course stability and the drivability. We consider the dynamics of liquid sloshing in moving containers, and give examples of building a mechanical model of an oscillating fluid in a tank and a mathematical model of a vehicle with a tank. We also considered the method of improving the vehicle’s stability, which is based on the prediction of the moment of action and the nature of the dynamic processes of liquid cargo and the implementation of preventive actions by executive mechanisms. Modern automated control systems (anti-lock brake system, anti-slip control systems, stabilization systems, braking forces distribution systems, floor level systems, etc.) use a certain list of elements for collecting necessary parameters and actuators for their work. This gives the ability to influence the course stability properties without interfering with the design of the vehicle only by making changes to the software of these systems. Keywords: tank vehicle, roll stability, mathematical model, vehicle control systems.

All of the cutting edges on an hourglass worm gear hob have different shapes and spiral angles. If the spiral angles are small, straight flutes are usually adopted. But for the hob with multiple threads, the absolute values of the negative rake angles at one side of the cutting teeth will greatly affect the cutting performance of the hob if straight flutes are still used. Therefore, spiral flutes are usually adopted to solve the problem. However, no method of determination of the spiral flute of the hourglass worm gear hob has been put forward till now. Based on the curved surface generating theory and the hourglass worm forming principle, a generating method for the spiral flute of the planar double enveloping worm gear hob is put forward in this paper. A mathematical model is built to generate the spiral flute. The rake angles of all cutting teeth of the hob are calculated. The laws of the rake angles of the cutting teeth of four hobs with different threads from one to four threads are analyzed when straight flutes and spiral flutes are adopted respectively. The laws between the value of the negative rake angles of the hob with four threads and the milling transmission ratio are studied. The most appropriate milling transmission ratio for generating the spiral flute is obtained. The machining of the spiral flutes is simulated by a virtual manufacturing system and the results verify the correctness of the method.

AbstractThe manufacturing of case-hardened gears usually consists of several complex and expensive steps to ensure high load carrying capacity. The load carrying capacity for the main fatigue failure modes pitting and tooth root breakage can be increased significantly by increasing the near surface compressive residual stresses. In earlier publications, different shear cutting techniques, the near-net-shape-blanking processes (NNSBP’s), were investigated regarding a favorable residual stress state. The influence of the process parameters on the amount of clean cut, surface roughness, hardness and residual stresses was investigated. Furthermore, fatigue bending tests were carried out using C-shaped specimens. This paper reports about involute gears that are manufactured by fineblanking. This NNSBP was identified as suitable based on the previous research, because it led to a high amount of clean cut and favorable residual stresses. For the fineblanked gears of S355MC (1.0976), the die edge radii were varied and the effects on the cut surface geometry, hardness distribution, surface roughness and residual stresses are investigated. The accuracy of blanking the gear geometry is measured, and the tooth root bending strength is determined in a pulsating test rig according to standardized testing methods. It is shown that it is possible to manufacture gears by fineblanking with a high precision comparable to gear hobbing. Additionally, the cut surface properties lead to an increased tooth root bending strength.

The aim of the work is to summarize the results of experimental-industrial and theoretical studies of dynamic processes in wide-strip hot rolling mills 1680, 1700, 2000 and 2500. We describe the methods of collecting, storing, identifying, visualizing and mathematical processing of large data arrays, which made it possible to establish new laws and correlations of technological parameters. New results related to the peculiarities of transient processes, their patterns and the use of the latter for the purpose of diagnosing technology and equipment condition are presented. Vibrodynamic processes are described when the strip is captured by the rollers. For the first time, a correlation between the maximum peak moment when the strip is captured and the static rolling moment on the 1680 mill is obtained and substantiated by measuring and statistical modeling. A new mathematical model of the roll line is developed, incorporating the equations of dynamic processes in gears and axles of the gearbox. For the first time, the dynamics of the formation of intercellular tensions in the process of sequential filling and release with a 6-cell band is shown. A complete mathematical model and a computer program for the dynamic interaction of six-group stands of a rolling strip have been developed. A new line of research has been proposed, which includes the search, substantiation and testing of new methods and methods for diagnosing the technical condition of rolling mills based on the use of transients and their parameters in various modes of equipment operation. Proposed and tested in industrial conditions at the mills 1680 and 1700-M are effective ways to reduce the impact loads during the period of the strip capture by the rollers.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to derive a new lubrication model of double involute gears drive and study the effect of the tooth waist order parameters of double involute gears on lubrication performance. Design/methodology/approach The new lubrication model of double involute gears drive was established according to the meshing characteristics of double involute gears drive and the finite length line contact elastohydrodynamic lubrication theory. Numerical calculation of the lubrication model of gear drive was conducted using the multigrid method. Findings The results show that the oil film necking phenomenon and the oil film pressure peak emerged at the tooth waist order area and the tooth profile ends, and when compared with involute gear, the lubrication performance at the tooth waist order area is better than that at the tooth profile ends. The effect of tooth waist order parameters on lubrication performance at the tooth waist order area was greater than that at other areas. Originality/value This research will promote the application of the double involute gear as soon as possible, and it has the reference value for other types of gears.
