The bullwhip effect was caused by fuzzy demand among the enterprises. In order to reduce this effect, control theory was applied to solve the inventory in supply chain. Firstly, inventory control in supply chain and the bullwhip effect was researched. Secondly, a kind of proportional integral differential (PID) controller was developed for inventory control in a three-level supply chain, and the mathematical model of the PID controller for inventory control was presented. Finally, the results show that the PID controller can evidently alleviate the bullwhip effect and inventory fluctuations under the suitable combination of control gain.

PT. PT. XYZ Medan is manufacturing company that produce soft drinks of beverages in containers. In the product distribution system at PT. XYZ Medan, found that the number of orders based on the result of forecasting in 2013 lower than actual orders at distrbutor and manufacturer in 2014. Distorsion of information on this order can evaluate the indication of bullwhip effect in supply chain. Based on the result calculation of bullwhip effect, found that the value of bullwhip effect for Indomaret distributor, Carrefour, and supply chain of manufacturer each of 0,5303; 0,2967, and 0,5114. Proposed improvements to predominate bullwhip effect that is by doing inventory control policy with Q model using Hadley-Within approach. The value of bullwhip effect aftre doing inventory control policy for Indomaret distributor, Carrefour, and supply chain of manufacturer each of 1,0721; 1,100; dan 1,0714. The value of bullwhip effect which is close to one shows that the variance between the number of the order and the number of the demand nearly balanced so as to save the inventory cost at PT. XYZ Medan.

Epilepsy affects about 70 million people in the world. Every year, approximately 2.4 million people are diagnosed with epilepsy, two-thirds of them will not know the etiology of their disease, and 1% of these individuals will decease as a consequence of it. Due to the inherent complexity of predicting and explaining it, the mathematical model Epileptor was recently developed to reproduce seizure-like events, also providing insights to improve the understanding of the neural dynamics in the interictal and ictal periods, although the physics behind each parameter and variable of the model is not fully established in the literature. This paper introduces an approach to design a feedback-based controller for suppressing epileptic seizures described by Epileptor. Our work establishes how the nonlinear dynamics of this disorder can be written in terms of a combination of linear sub-models employing an exact solution. Additionally, we show how a feedback control gain can be computed to suppress seizures, as well as how specific shapes applied as input stimuli for this purpose can be obtained. The practical application of the approach is discussed and the results show that the proposed technique is promising for developing controllers in this field.

AbstractThis paper considers the problem of attitude and altitude control of quadrotors using the sliding mode control theory. The mathematical model of the quadrotor is derived using the Euler-Newton formalism. The sliding-mode is applied to the Parrot Mambo minidrone, which is a strong example of bringing educational robotics to formal (MATLAB, Python, JavaScript), non-formal (Tynker, Blockly, Swift Playground) and informal education. The control considered shows good performance and enhanced robustness.

AbstractInformation asymmetry and the bullwhip effect have been serious problems in the tourism supply chain. Based on platform theory, this paper established a mathematical model to explore the inner mechanism of a platform’s influence on stakeholders’ ability to forecast demand in tourism. Results showed that the variance of stakeholders’ demand predictions with a platform was smaller than the variance without a platform, which meant that a platform would improve predictions of demand for stakeholders. The higher information-processing ability of the platform also had other effects on demand forecasting. Research on the inner logic of the platform’s influence on stakeholders has important theoretical and realistic value. This area is worthy of further study.

The article is devoted to the development of a mathematical model for the analysis of functioning interferonogenic supply chain of textile products. A mathematical model and method of analysis of the functioning of an integrated supply chain of textile products are proposed. A mathematical model contributing to cost reduction in the supply chain of textile products is recommended. The results show that the mathematical model of optimization of placement textile enterprises promotes the decrease of the expenses in the supply chain. The designated model will not only be helpful for managers and enterprises related to textiles, but also for other fields dealing with logistics and supply chains in planning and organization of transport processes.

This article establishes the mathematical model of automobile anti-lock braking system (ABS) in the Simulink environment and tracks the research and simulation of the ABS established mathematical model, which is based on the control module with the PID controller. From the simulation curve, we can verify automobile ABS with good braking performance and direction maneuverability.

This paper establishes the mathematical model of the system of container crane, and then introduced the CMAC and PID compound control principle and characteristics, and PID control of the position of the container crane , CMAC-PID control of the position of the container crane, and CMAC-PID control of container crane's position and angle. The simulation results show that the crane based on the CMAC and PID compound control has a very good positioning and anti-swing effect.

Paper identifies obstacles limiting functioning and development of small and medium construction enterprises. It also includes a description of cluster supply chain (CSC) idea as a suggested solution to some of the problems resulting from the small scale of company activities. One of more important issues of every distribution centre, i.e. portions of deliveries smaller than truck capacity for particular consumers, is also discussed. This problem was formulated for the first time in dairy industry, therefore, it was called milk runs. Moreover, the authors of this paper presented the outcome analysis of survey carried out among construction engineers and managers. This study aimed at determining organizational principles for logistic centre working with CSC framework. The mathematical model depicting milk runs deliveries with overtime consideration, done for many construction sites within a distribution centre is presented hereunder. This model may be potentially used to optimize distribution centres working within cluster supply chain framework.

Jib Crane is a type of machinery used mainly to raise or lower materials or heavy objects and to carrying them to other places. It is used in construction and in the installation of large machines such as wind turbines and harbors, and is an essential component of integrated production processes. Because of the large loads carried by these cranes it became necessary to know their behavior before investment by studying their movements and studying the vibration of payloads and work to reduce them as much as possible and thus prolong the life of the crane components and increase their efficiency. Hence the need to design a control system to dampen load vibration to reduce the impact of dynamics affecting the parts of the crane. In this research, the mathematical model similar to the mechanical model of the crane was prepared and solving the model using MATLAB program, and then design a proportional integral differential controller for jib crane
