Experimental Investigation of the Compatibility of Lime Coating with Insulation Straw Biocomposite

The use of bio-based composite as building materials is one of the innovative solutions for dealing with environmental disorders caused by the construction sector. Among these materials we find biocomposites based on vegetable aggregates, which have proven their effectiveness as insulating materials in numerous studies. Despite the growing interest in these materials and the recognition of their performance, their use remains hampered by the lack of implementation rules specific to these materials to move towards a control of their use and their durability affected by the climate and use conditions to which they will be exposed at the level of a building. The objective of this work is to study the compatibility of a protective coating with a block substrate of biocomposites based on cereal straw. It is in fact a mixture of vegetable aggregates (straw), a binder composed of lime and additives also obtained from a renewable source (Ismail et al., 2020). These additives (air-entraining agent, casein protein and a biopolymer) have been added to improve both the fibre-binder interface and the porosity of the binder. The use of these bio-based materials for external or internal thermal insulation of the building requires the application of a coating to protect them against climatic aggressions and to give them an aesthetic appearance. The lime-based coatings, air-entraining agent and casein protein selected for this study have been the subject of an experimental investigation (Brahim Ismail, 2020). In order to assess the compatibility of these coatings with the straw-based insulating material, we were interested in studying the adhesion between the biocomposite and the coating after aging cycles in accordance with the EN 1015-21 standard. The samples (biocomposite + coating) were subjected to two types of aging, one using water and the other using a saline solution of sodium sulphates (Na2SO4). The results of the bond tests after aging showed that the cohesive fracture (at the level of the substrate) is a pattern observed in all the studied systems. In Addition, It has been found that the coating to which a percentage of fine fibers has been added undergoes considerable degradation after aging with salt solution, demonstrating the need of an additional layer of outer coating without fibers in order to ensure the sustainability of the system.

The subject of research in the following article is innovative solutions in organizations which are engaged in construction activity, their importance for development and increase in socio-economic indexes. In order to assess the level of innovativeness of the regional economy of the central federal district of the Russian Federation, the survey presents the dynamics of the innovation development rating of the subjects (according to the ISIEZ of the HSE). The importance of development and introduction of innovations are reflected in the construction sector of economy. As the subject of detailed research in this article, the enterprises of the Vladimir region, implementing innovative projects and development, and also dynamics of indicators of their functioning, are considered. Survey conducted within the research has allowed to allocate and group the main reasons for low innovative activity of the construction enterprises.

AbstractThe construction sector is progressively becoming more circular by reducing waste, re-using building materials and adopting regenerative solutions for energy production and biodiversity protection. The implications of circularity on construction activities are complex and require the careful evaluation of impacts to select the appropriate path forward. Evaluations of circular solutions and their environmental effectiveness are often performed based on various types of life cycle-based impact assessments. This paper uses systemic thinking to map and evaluate different impact assessment methodologies and their implications for a shift to more circular solutions. The following systemic levels are used to group the methodologies: product (material life cycle declarations and building assessments), organisation (certification and management schemes) and system (policies, standards and regulations). The results confirm that circular economy is integrated at all levels. However, development and structure are not coordinated or governed unidirectionally, but rather occur simultaneously at different levels. This recursive structure is positive if the methods are applied in the correct context, thus providing both autonomy and cohesion in decision making. Methods at lower systemic levels may then improve production processes and stimulate the market to create circular and innovative building solutions, whereas methods at higher systemic levels can be used, for example, by real estate builders, trade organisations and governments to create incentives for circular development and innovation in a broader perspective. Use of the performance methods correctly within an actor network is therefore crucial for successful and effective implementation of circular economy in the construction sector.

This paper presents the results of a research that was carried out in a castle in Prószków, a town near Opole, Poland. The investigations were based on the conducted architectural research, including iconographic studies and the analysis of the technology, building materials, and architectural details. The conducted research demonstrated that the Renaissance structure in question was built by Baron Jerzy Prószkowski as a palazzo in fortezza, most likely in the years 1563–1571. The residence is planned around a rectangular courtyard with four bastion towers. The scope of the architectural transformations of the complex during the baroque period and the 19th century was also presented. In the summary, it was highlighted that the castle is one of the first buildings located north of the Alps that refers to the designs of Villa Farnese in Caprarolli, which was designed by Giacomo Barozzi da Vignioli. It is in the style of palazzo in Fortezza, similar to residences in Czechia, Silesia, and Poland. Here, we emphasized the uniqueness of the complex, which stands out from other residences in Silesia and areas of the former Republic of Poland due its original form and innovative solutions.

Abstract Aesthetic appearance and brain protection are the main indications for cranial reconstruction following decompressive craniectomy. Recently, few reports indicated that cranioplasty could also improve both, cognitive and functional status. A group of 20 patients were treated with decompressive craniectomy following closed head injury; among these patients, two of them (who represent the subject of the current investigation) had to undergo subsequent cranioplasty removal due to the development of local infection. All patients were evaluated by Glasgow outcome scale, frontal assessment battery and mini-mental state examination at 1 week before completion of the cranioplasty as well as 6 and 24 weeks following cranioplasty. Perfusion computed tomography scans were also performed (1 week before and 6 weeks after cranioplasty) as well as a trans-cranial Doppler 1 week before, and 6 and 24 weeks after. The two patients being the subject of this study were also clinically and radiologically evaluated after cranioplasty removal. These two patients, who represent (not intentionally) two case control, showed a real clinical and cerebral perfusion improvement following repair of the skull defect followed by obvious clinical worsening after the skull flap had to be removed. Cranioplasty is likely not to have just a positive influence on cosmetic and protective features of the patients but also seem to improve both, cognitive and functional status by favorably influencing local and global brain hemodynamic and perfusion.

The aim of the article is to present the motivation behind foreign expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in Łódź Voivodeship. In order to carry out the project the researchers analysed the literature on the subject and conducted primary research on the sample of the selected companies with the use of survey and interview questionnaires that the managers of the companies surveyed responded to in 2017 and 2018.The decisions to enter foreign markets also resulted from the fact that companies wanted to increase their turnover and profits and in some cases, as the research proved, they were also motivated by factors concerning the companies productivity. Companies perceive foreign market expansion as an opportunity to expand their product offer, enter new markets, implement innovative solutions or achieve the previously set strategic goals, which is referred to as the so called strategic motivation.

Resumo: Este artigo tem como objetivo descrever um breve histórico sobre diferentes tendências pedagógicas da educação no Brasil e debater a relação entre esses modelos e a busca da formação do conhecimento, através da iniciação da pesquisa, usando, para isso, uma experiência realizada numa disciplina do Curso Técnico de Edificações do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Sul-Riograndense. O estudo parte do pressuposto de que é preciso apreender com rapidez, em um mundo frenético, onde o ensino necessita de múltiplos contextos. “Roubemos”, então, parte de uma conversa deleuziana, na qual aprender é pensar, e do entendimento de que o professor reflexivo é o que procura desencadear, arrolar e romper o pensamento. Frente à ruptura feita pela tentativa de inovação em sala de aula, o paradigma dominante aqui se desconstrói, necessitando novas conexões para seguir. Assim, esta pesquisa parte da narração de uma nova prática, em que a inovação demonstra que o interesse dos estudantes é proporcional à curiosidade que a disciplina ou as atividades podem propiciar. A pesquisa desvincula-se do apenas ir para o laboratório de materiais de construção e realizar análises hipotéticas. Aqui, altera-se e amplia-se com o estímulo da vontade dos estudantes em analisar um produto que eles mesmos criaram. Desse modo, os estudantes são provocados a produzir, na forma de um texto científico, o conteúdo abordado, tendo a possibilidade de introdução na iniciação científica e de perdurar nela durante o semestre inteiro. Professor reflexivo.  THE REFLECTIVE TEACHER AND EDUCATION BY RESEARCH: PERSPECTIVES OF A PRACTICE WITH STUDENTS OF THE BUILDING TECHNICAL COURSE Abstract: This article aims to describe a brief history of the different pedagogical trends of education in Brazil and discuss the relations between these models and the pursuit of knowledge formation through the initiation of research, by using it for an experiment conducted in the discipline of Building Technical Course of Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Sul-Rio-Grandense. The study assumes that we need to grasp quickly, in a frantic world, where teaching requires multiple contexts. We pick part of a conversation from Deleuze, by whom learning is thinking, and the understanding that the reflective teacher is looking trigger, roll over and break the thought. Face to break made by attempt of innovation in the classroom, the dominant paradigm here is deconstructed and need new connections. Thus, this research is the narration of a new practice, where innovation shows that student interest is proportional to the curiosity that the subject or the activities can provide. The research is disassociated of the only go to the lab of building materials and perform what if analysis here alters and expands on the stimulus of the will of the students in analyzing a product that they themselves created. Therefore, students are provoked to produce a scientific text about the studied subject, and they are given the opportunity of experiencing the undergraduate research and continuing it during the semester. Developed nations acknowledge sustainable development as a legal right for current and future generations. Although instances of domestic and international efforts are prevalent, there is a long way to go before accomplishing developmental ideals. A practical approach for realizing the vital goals of sustainable development is of the utmost importance. In effect, the construction sector requires extensive forward-looking studies for strategizing, building and granting a sustainable future. The inconsistency between the goals and activities of different sectors is a main impediment upon undertaking sustainable development’s goals; decision and lawmakers must consider the purpose and interests of the building industry on a micro and macro level. This paper is a brief review for understanding the concept of sustainable development and illustrates some of the international efforts, and highlights them for decision makers.  Using the ‘PESTLE’ analysis technique, external and internal factors influencing sustainability in the Iranian construction sector were identified. Interviews were conducted with experts using the ‘Snowball’ research method due to the lack of knowledgeable respondents in the subject area. 11 Practical steps needed in Iran were recommended and sorted by their importance to make this vision a reality. The results can be generalized to other disciplines as well.

The relevance of the subject matter of scientific research is determined by the importance of introducing innovative solutions in the activities of modern enterprises in various sectors of the economy in general and the need for a detailed study of various aspects of the impact of innovative mechanisms in ensuring the full functioning of the financial accounting systems of the enterprise in particular. In this context, the purpose of the study is to investigate the role and functions of innovative mechanisms in the financial accounting system of an enterprise, regardless of its field of activity, with an assessment of the effectiveness of the implementation of such innovative mechanisms and methods. The leading approach in this study is the method of system analysis, which allows performing a structured review of various aspects of the subject matter, in terms of identifying the main patterns of implementation of innovative solutions and mechanisms in the activities of the financial accounting system of the enterprise. The results of this study reflect the essence of the research performed and clearly demonstrate the sequence of development and subsequent implementation of innovative mechanisms in the activities of the relevant systems of modern enterprises; the final conclusions of this study are formulated based on the obtained results. The results and conclusions of this study are of significant practical value for specialists working in the financial accounting system of enterprises, regardless of their specific affiliation to certain areas of economic activity, in terms of providing a qualitative understanding of the need to introduce innovative mechanisms in the financial accounting structures of these enterprises, in order to reduce unjustified losses in the activities of these enterprises and increase the overall level of their economic efficiency in the current economic situation.

Textile concrete is an innovative composite material that has been the subject of intensive research since the beginning of the 90s of the last century. After the approval of the rules and regulations on its application to strengthen floor slabs, an important step was taken towards its entry into the building materials market. Questions regarding the reinforcement of rod-shaped load-bearing elements of building structures need additional research. Despite the great potential available, the method of tying load-bearing supports and columns is still not well understood. There is a need for research on a wide range of geometric parameters and the reinforcement systems used. The Institute of Reinforced Concrete of the Higher Technical School in Leipzig tested various samples of carbon-reinforced samples in a wide range of geometrical parameters. Their goal was to assess the effect on a possible increase in the bearing capacity of carbon-reinforced columns at a concentrated point load.
