CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics were prepared by the traditional solid-state reaction method and the dielectric properties were investigated, the activation energy and relaxation time factor of the samples were calculated. Debye relaxation theory was attempted to analyze the experimental datum, the static and high-frequency dielectric constants were obtained according to Cole-Cole spectra. The temperature dependence of the dielectric constant of CaCu3Ti4O12 were fitted by computer and the theoretical results nearly agree with experimental results.

A pure ferrite and epoxy samples as well as the epoxy/ferrite composites with different 20 wt.%, 30 wt.%, 40 wt.%, and 50 wt.% weight ferrite contents have been prepared by the chemical co-precipitation method. AC-conductivity and dielectric properties such as the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the prepared samples have been studied. The obtained results showed that the samples had a semiconductor behavior. The dielectric constant of the composites has been calculated theoretically using several models. For the composite sample that contains 20 wt.% of ferrites, these models give satisfactory compliance, while for the composite samples with a higher percentage of nanofillers, more than 30 wt.% theoretical results do not coincide with experimental data. The investigated polymer has very low conductivity, so this type of polymer can be useful for high-frequency applications, which can reduce the losses caused by eddy current. Thus, the prepared samples are promising materials for practical use as elements of microwave devices.

Ba[Formula: see text]Sr[Formula: see text]TiO3 ceramics with or without ZnO have been prepared by traditional solid state reaction method. The XRD analysis showed that the doped Zn[Formula: see text] ions diffused into the BST crystal lattice, resulting in the variation of dielectric properties. Especially the dielectric constant at Curie point decreased with doping ZnO content when it is lower than 0.5[Formula: see text]mol%. Due to the promotion of sintering, doping ZnO can enhance the density of ceramics but increase grain size. However, ZnO is a kind of semiconductor and can lead to the decrease in electrical breakdown strength value.

The relationship between the character of the B-site cation–oxygen bond and the microwave dielectric properties in perovskites dielectric materials was studied in this paper. The atomic net charge of CaTiO3 (CT) and Ca(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 (CZN) was calculated respectively. The calculating result implies that the covalency of B-O bonds in CZN is stronger than that in CT. This predicted that the dielectric constant and loss of the ceramics will decrease after CZN incorporated in CT. To confirme the prediction, (1-x)CT-xCZN microwave dielectric ceramics were prepared by solid state reaction method with ZnNb2O6 as precursor. The structure analysis in terms of tolerance factor gives an identical result as calculation. The microwave dielectric properties, such as dielectric constants, Q×f values and τf were studied as a function of composition. With x increasing from 0.2 to 0.8, the dielectric constant linearly decreases from 109 to 49.37, the Q×f value increases from 8,340 to 13,200 GHz, and τf decreases from 321 to -18 ppm/°C. The properties trends are consistent with the previous calculation results, and confirm the relationship between the character of B-O bond and dielectric properties.

The Mg2SiO4-MgTiO3-CaTiO3 composite dielectric ceramics with different Mg2SiO4 addition amounts were prepared by solid state reaction method. The effects of Mg2SiO4 addition amounts on the microstructure and dielectric properties as well as sintering temperature of xMg2SiO4-(0.95-x)MgTiO3-0.05CaTiO3 (abbreviated as xMSTC, 0.25≦x≦0.75) composite ceramics were investigated. The results indicated that the sintering temperature of MgTiO3-CaTiO3 based ceramics with Mg2SiO4 addition could be lowered effectively to 1320~1340°C, and the dielectric constant decreased and dielectric loss increased gradually with the increase of Mg2SiO4 content. The 0.45MSTC ceramics containing 45 wt% Mg2SiO4 and sintered at 1340°C showed desirable dielectric properties with dielectric constant εr=13.3,dielectric loss tanδ=4.5×10-4 and temperature coefficient of relative permittivity τε =10 ppm/°C.

The grain-oriented Bi4Ti3O12(BIT) samples were prepared by the solid-state reaction method with a multicalcination process. The grain-oriented BIT samples exhibit anisotropic structural, ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and dielectric properties. The remanent polarization (2Pr) and the piezoelectric constant (d33) ofa/b- andc-direction BIT ceramics are 49.5 μC cm−2, 22.2 pC N−1and 6.7 μC cm−26.9 pC N−1, respectively. The dielectric anomalies of samples are observed around 157 K and 232 K. The dielectric anomalies at around 157 K are related to oxygen vacancies. The activation energy of the dielectric relaxation of this anomaly is estimated to be 1.36 eV. Another dielectric anomaly at around 232 K is related to polarizable domains and the viscous motion of domain walls.

(1-x)(Ca0.61Nd0.26)TiO3-x(Li0.5Sm0.5)TiO3 (0.2 ≤ x ≤ 0.7) ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction method and the microwave dielectric properties of the resultant materials at different (Li0.5Sm0.5)TiO3 contents were investigated. A single phase of perovskite in all samples was confirmed by XRD patterns. With increasing (Li0.5Sm0.5)TiO3 content, Q×f value and dielectric constant (εr) decrease slightly and the temperature coefficients of the resonant frequency (τf) of the specimens decreases noticeably. The optimum parameters, i.e.,εr = 109, Q×f = 5259 GHz and τf = ~0 ppm/°C, for the composition of 0.4(Ca0.61Nd0.26)TiO3-0.6(Li0.5Sm0.5)TiO3 was obtained when keep the calcination temperature at 1250°C for 3 h.

CaCu3(Ti1-xZrx)O12 ceramics (x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08) were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. Phase compositions, microstructure and dielectric properties were examined by XRD, SEM and impedance spectroscopy, respectively. The experimental results indicated that there is no obvious effect on microstructure characteristic by substituting Zr4+ for Ti4+. It was found that the values of the dielectric constant for all of the samples dropped into the order of 102, which is significantly lower than the order of 105 that of normally reported in the literature. It was suggested that the presence of impurity phases played an important role for the degeneracy of dielectric properties.

(Bi2-xLix) (Mg2/3Nb1.1833Sn0.15)O7 piezoelectric ceramics were prepared by conventional solid state reaction method. The microstructure and dielectric properties of dielectric ceramics were studied which was doped by different amount of Li2CO3. The experiment results showed that the density of the ceramics would decrease, but have little effect on the microstructure of the ceramics when the amount of the Li2CO3 doped increases. With the increasing of Li2CO3 doped, the dielectric constant(εr) and dielectric loss(tanδ) of dielectric ceramics first decreases and then increases. When tested in 1MHz frequency, the piezoelectric ceramics display the optimum properties tanδ is 0.00009, εr is 163 while Li2CO3 doped amount is 0.05 mol%.

The Magnesium Niobate-Lead Titanate (PMN) / conductive carbon black (CB)/ chlorobutyl rubber(CIIR) composites were prepared by blending-vulcanization method, and the dielectric properties were studied. The results showed that the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of composites increased nonlinearly when increasing the content of PMN or CB. From the curve of dielectric constant vs frequency, it is obtained that in the frequency range from 103 to 106 Hz, the dielectric constant of PMN/CB/CIIR composites decreased with the frequency increasing and the dielectric constants are more stable under high frequency.
