The anti-corrosion characteristic of the extract of Psidiumguajava leaves on aluminum in 3.5 wt% sodium chloride were examined using electrochemical measurement. The thermodynamic factors such as the free energy adsorption, change in enthalpy, and entropy was also analyzed. The adsorption isotherm was detail described to study the adsorption of the inhibitor on the aluminum surface with various concentrations of the inhibitor. The electrochemical measurement was done through the potentiodynamic polarization test. The results show that the inhibitor act as the mixed type inhibitor and its adsorption on the aluminum surface obeys Temkin adsorption isotherm. The study suggests that the use of Psidium guajava leaves extract for the food industrial application is eco-friendly and safe, especially in salt solution medium.

Adsorption and inhibition behavior of 1,2,3-benzotriazole (BTA) and 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (DMTD) on brazing Cu-Ag alloy was studied in deionized water using potentiodynamic polarization measurement, adsorption isotherm investigation and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Pure Ag and pure Cu were included to investigate the mere effect of each component on the alloy’s behavior. Results show better inhibition of DMTD for Ag and BTA for Cu, both by chemisorption. BTA was found to follow Langmuir isotherm while DMTD obeyed Temkin adsorption isotherm, despite both acting as a mixed type inhibitor. Combining the two inhibitors increased the inhibition efficiency over 80% for the Cu-Ag alloy. XPS spectra demonstrate the formation of DMTD protective film through DMTD’s functional groups of pyrrolic N from the azole ring and thiol S from the mercapto anchoring group on Ag and thiol S on Cu. Compared to BTA, the higher affinity of DMTD to Ag was attributed to the involvement of two heteroatoms with the Ag surface.

Inhibitive impact of Akuamma seed (AS) extract toward 1.0M HCl corrosion of aluminum was examined using response surface methodology (RSM). Gravimetric (weight loss), potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques were used in the corrosion inhibition process. In all the method used, the seed extract acted as good corrosion inhibitor of aluminum in 1.0M HCl solution. Optimal inhibition efficiency of 72.6% was obtained at optimum inhibition concentration of 1.2g/l, temperature of 304.19k and maximized time of 11.53hrs. It showed that the plant extract has excellent inhibitive properties for the corrosion inhibition process. The values of kads are relatively small indicating that the interaction between the adsorbed extract molecules and aluminum surface is a physical process. The (AS) extract protects aluminum against pitting corrosion. The level of protection increases with increase extract concentrations. The extract inhibited both cathodic and anodic reactions and acted as mixed-type inhibitor.

AbstractThis paper presents the corrosion and inhibition behavior of heat-treated EN8 dual-phase steel with ferrite-martensite structure with pectin in 0.5 M sulphuric acid. The corrosion studies were performed using the weight loss method, electrochemical techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization measurements, and impedance spectroscopy. The study was done at different concentrations of pectin in the temperature range of 40 to 70 °C and immersion time of 1, 3, 5, and 7 h. The results showed that the inhibition performance of pectin has enhanced with an increase in pectin concentration and decreased with the temperature and time of exposure. From the weight loss study, highest inhibition efficiency of 76.43% was achieved at 5.0 g/L at 1 h of exposure at 40 °C. The maximum inhibition efficiency of 62% was obtained with 5.0 g/L of pectin at 40 °C by potentiodynamic polarization method. The energy, enthalpy, and entropy of activation and also thermodynamic parameters like free energy, enthalpy, and entropy of adsorption were assessed and discussed. Appropriate adsorption isotherm was fit to the obtained experimental outcomes and achieved Langmuir adsorption isotherm to be the best fit and obeyed physical adsorption. Surface analysis: scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction techniques, atomic force microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray were done with and without the addition of pectin. The metal surface appears to be uniform and smooth in the presence of pectin and adsorption was confirmed by surface analysis.

The inhibition and the effect of temperature and concentration of trans-4-hydroxy-4′-stilbazole on the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution was investigated by weight loss experiments at temperatures ranging from 303 to 343 K. The studied inhibitor concentrations were between  M and  M. The percentage inhibition increased with the increase of the concentration of the inhibitor. The percentage inhibition reached about 94% at the concentration of  M and 303 K. On the other hand, the percentage inhibition decreased with the increase of temperature. Using the Temkin adsorption isotherm, the thermodynamic parameters for the adsorption of this inhibitor on the metal surface were calculated. Trans-4-hydroxy-4′-stilbazole was found to be a potential corrosion inhibitor since it contained not only nitrogen and oxygen, but also phenyl and pyridine rings that are joined together with a double bond (–C=C–) in conjugation with these rings.

A new corrosion inhibior N,N-diethylammonium O,O-di (p-chlorophenyl) dithiophosphate (EDPDP) has been synthesized and its inhibition effect towards the corrosion of carbon steel in 1.0 molL-1 HCl solution at 25 °C has been investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The obtained results show that EDPDP is a excellent inhibitor and the inhibition efficiencies exceed 90 %. The polarization measurements reveal that EDPDP is a mixed type inhibitor and the equivalent circuit model of the corrosion inhibition process is obtained by the analysis of EIS data.

Natural inhibitors are the most crucial manner to lessen the corrosion price of various business metals. There are several strategies being used with corrosion inhibitors. One technique being used is the Electrochemical strategies. The gain with this technique is their brief size time and mechanistic information. It is beneficial in the corrosion's layout safety techniques besides the layout of the brand new inhibitors, there are 3 styles of corrosion inhibitors as anodic inhibitors, cathodic inhibitors, over one inhibitor. The corrosion inhibition of slight metallic in 1.0 M HCl solution with the aid of using Jordanian -Bay- leaves extract has been studied with the use of potentiodynamic polarization technique. Results received a display that Bay- leaves aqueous extract behaves as an anodic inhibitor for slight metallic in 1.0 M HCl solution. The inhibitor capabilities thru adsorption following Temkin adsorption isotherm. The impact of parameters like temperature and inhibitor awareness at the corrosion of slight metallic has additionally been studied.

Purpose – To study the inhibition effect and mechanism of the Momordica charantia extract (BM) to 20 A carbon steel in 5 per cent HCl. Design/methodology/approach – The weight loss, polarization curve, infrared spectrum (IR) analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) analysis were carefully investigated to indicate the inhibition effect and mechanism of the BM to 20 A carbon steel in 5 per cent HCl. Findings – BM was composed of C, N and O. Functional groups such as N–H and C=O were found in BM. The inhibition efficiency increased with the increasing concentration of BM. BM behaved as a mixed-type inhibitor, and the inhibition of BM to 20 A carbon steel might be its adsorption through the coordinate covalent bonding among the lone pair electrons of N and O and the empty 3d orbits of Fe, and the adsorption on the surface of 20 A carbon steel obeyed the Langmuir isotherm equation. Research limitations/implications – The inhibition of the BM to 20 A carbon steel in 5 per cent HCl. Practical implications – BM could be used in 5 per cent HCl to prevent 20 A carbon steel from corrosion. Social implications – BM could be used in the chemical cleaning of the boilers to prevent the thermal equipments from corrosion. Originality/value – The inhibition effect and mechanism of the BM to 20 A carbon steel were studied by the weight loss, polarization curve, IR analysis and XPS analysis. The effect of aqueous extract of UAE Neem (Azadirachta Indica) on the corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl solution was investigated electrochemically, and by weight-loss experiments at temperatures ranging from 303 to 343 K. The percentage inhibition increased with the increase of the concentration of the inhibitor. At a concentration of 2.0 g/L, the percentage inhibition reached about 87% at room temperature and 80% at 303 K. The percentage inhibition decreased with the increase of temperature. The thermodynamic parameters for the adsorption of this inhibitor on the metal surface were calculated using the Temkin adsorption isotherm. The aqueous Neem leaves extract was found to be an excellent potential corrosion inhibitor because of the high content of tannin content as well as the presence of a series of complex triterpene glycosides.

The inhibition effect of 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole (2-MB) against the corrosion of carbon steel in sulfuric acid solution was studied by weight loss measurement and electrochemical measurements(potentiodynamic polarization techniques). The results show that 2-MB acts as a good corrosion inhibitor in sulfuric acid solution. Adsorption of 2-MB is found to obey Langmuir isotherm. Polarization curves indicate 2-MB is a mixed-type inhibitor. The effects of temperature and sulfuric acid concentration were also studied.
