the main objective of this study is to identify the differences in cognitive styles (independence, dependence, reflective and impulsive styles) between the gifted and average males/females secondary students level applying the different gender as a variable. In this study, the researcher followed the comparative descriptive approach on a sample that contains 110 males/females secondary students: 20 males gifted secondary students, 30 females gifted secondary students (both the gifted males and females students have passed the test of the Saudi Arabia national project to discover the gifted students), 30 average males secondary students and 30 average females secondary students, they have been selected by a simple randomized method. Then the researcher used two tools: Embedded Figures Test EFT (Group figures) to measure the independence/dependence styles based on the conceptual field who prepared by Anwer Al-Sharqawi and Suliman Al-khudari in (1989) and measuring the reflective/impulsive verbal styles who was presented by (Aiash, 2006) after modifying the method to be applicable for this study. The results of the study has shown the following:There is a statistical difference of less than 0.05 in the dependence/independence styles between the males/females gifted students with respect to the average students to the gifted students, which means that the gifted students are more independent from the average students. There is no statistical difference between the gifted males students and gifted females students in the dependence/independence style, which means that there is no affect of the gender differences. There is a statistical difference of a level less than 0.05 in reflective/impulsive style between the male/female gifted students with respect to the average ones to the gifted students, which means that the gifted students are more patients than the normal ones. There is no statistical difference between the male gifted students and female gifted students from the reflective/impulsive style prospective, which means that there is no affect of the gender differences. The total results of this study support that there are cognitive styles differences between the gifted and average students that were discussed and given some recommendations and suggested studies linked to this study and its topic.

The Group Embedded Figures Test of Oltman, Raskin, and Witkin was administered to 60 high school students (30 with learning disabiliues and 30 without learning disabilities) to measure their cognitive styles of field dependence versus field independence. The analysis showed that the students with learning disabilities scored as more field dependent than those without learning disabilities.

In the world of K–12 education, the growing numbers of dropouts are a major concern. This article examines the dropout rates of Chinese and Vietnamese high school students. Using logistic regression analysis, this article examines the influence of ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status (SES) on dropout rates. The distinct contribution of this analysis lies within the intraethnic comparisons within the Asian American student population and its use of longitudinal data. The results of the study support existing research that gender and SES are related to dropout rates. Moreover, an interesting interaction between ethnicity and SES exists.

In spite of the prevailing assumption that formal reading instruction is no longer needed once adolescents reach high school, students at the secondary level still benefit from explicit reading instruction to continue developing advanced literacy skills enabling them to access complex narrative texts. This article argues for the importance of teachers to scrutinize the texts they plan to teach to determine what instruction and supports are needed to promote reading comprehension for students with learning disabilities. Specifically, this article examines how nonlinear text structures can challenge adolescent reading comprehension and illustrates explicit text structure instruction with three exemplar texts which use unconventional narrative patterns. The article emphasizes the importance of considering the qualitative features of texts to inform instruction to support reading comprehension for students with learning disabilities.

Digital media literacy has become an intrinsic component in shaping high school students’ knowledge acquisition and critical thoughts. Over the last two decades, internet and computers have been the implemented tools to reach such goals and promote the students’ learning. This article looks for the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on Tunisian secondary school students by detecting their technical skills as well as their critical understanding. This quantitative study relies on a self-reporting approach and targets 150 Tunisian secondary students. It proves the necessary consideration of technological and social variables in helping sort out major digital handicaps related to secondary students and displays the interconnectedness between the different dimensions of digital media literacy. It also displays that Tunisian high school students cannot be referred to as digital-media literate people. The study contributes to the field of digital media literacy as it offers a solid empirical background to build on and indicates the necessity of integrating digital media literacy into the school-based initiatives.

The study aimed to identify the relationship between the prevailing social control methods and the level of ambition among secondary students. The researcher used the descriptive descriptive approach. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the questionnaire was used to determine the validity and persistence of the social control methods, consisting of (47) items divided into two areas (the first area: the penalties and the second field: the rewards), prepared by the researcher (2005) The study sample consisted of (367) male and female students from the Fourth Directorate of Amman. The results of the study showed that the most common methods of social control used in the field of penalties are: to punish you for the offenses you have committed. In the area of charges, "promote your good behavior in front of students in public." The results also showed that the level of ambition among students was high, ). The results also showed that there is no relationship between the methods of social control and the level of ambition among students. There are statistically significant differences in the methods of social control due to the gender variable. The differences were in favor of males in penalties and in favor of females in rewards. The level of ambition is attributed Variable sex; females in all dimensions of the study for the benefit.

The purpose of the research is to determine the effect of the difference in the mode of presentation of the enhanced reality models in the development of the cognitive achievement of secondary students in Jazan region in computer science, the researcher used quasi-experimental approach in comparing the 2D image models of Augmented reality to the first experimental group, and teaching the pattern of 3D image models of Augmented reality of the second experimental group, to ascertain the hypotheses of the research and to reveal the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable, the sample consisted of (60) students: (30) students in the first experimental group, which was studied using the two-dimensional Augmented Reality models, And (30) students in the second experimental group, which was studied using the pattern of Augmented Reality three-dimensional, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences at (α≤05.0) between the mean scores of the students of the first experimental groups studied using the two-dimensional Augmented Reality models, the second experiment, which was studied using the Augmented three-dimensional image models, in the post-application to test cognitive achievement, for the second experimental group studied using the three-dimensional Augmented Reality models, In the light of the results, recommendations and suggestions were made to develop the cognitive achievement of secondary students in computer and various subjects.

The definition of environment, which disregard the changes resulting from historical progressive rupture of man in relation to his surroundings, is one of the conceptual errors that hinder the understanding and solution of environmental problems of the present. Such difficulties are deepened by the extreme specialization of knowledge that undermined the understanding of environmental problems, making critical analysis urgent and able to integrate different areas of knowledge. Science and technology fairs can be seen as important initiatives to this integration. Thus, this study aimed to verify the perception of students participating in Febrace (Brazilian Science and Engineering Fair) in relation to the environment and the impacts of this fair in raising awareness about that issue. This is a quali-quantitative research based on bibliographic and documentary surveys and interviews with primary and secondary students who were responsible for the projects presented in that fair. The results showed that the majority of respondents (over 74%) have a more elaborate and globalizing vision of the concept of environment. It was also found that, in general, interviewed students could observe positive influences of the fair on their environmental perception and felt more interested and motivated to understand and discuss environmental problems.

The L.E.A.D. Program implements two Legacy Projects, annually: Power of Potential Youth Conference and Challenge Cup. Both events are planned, organized, and facilitated by teacher candidates with the goal of engaging in-risk youth in various capacities. Taking place in the fall, the Power of Potential Youth Conference allows local high school students to explore some of their options for life after secondary school through a series of presentations and workshops focusing on Financial Literacy, Healthy Active Living, and Career Exploration. Taking place each spring, Challenge Cup is an outdoor event that fosters leadership, character development, and self-confidence in local secondary students. Students participate in a series of physical activities throughout the day which focus on building team-work, community, and leadership skills. This chapter explores how both L.E.A.D. Legacy Project events support secondary students outside of the classroom. The planning and organization of both events will be explained.
