The aim of the study is to identify the influence of institutionalism on the accounting profession in Ukraine, in particular, to establish and assess the factors of such influence, its tools, characteristics and forecasting, on this basis, the prospects for the development of the institution of the accounting profession with an emphasis on the agricultural industry. Institutional impact on the accounting profession and its consequences are revealed through the use of a historical approach in research. To assess the initial conditions that have developed in Ukraine in matters of accounting, its development, the impact on it of existing institutions, including international ones, empirical analysis and assessment of the process of institutionalization of the accounting profession and its description in scientific professional literature were applied. To collect sociological information on the nature and characteristics of the accounting profession, a survey was conducted of 180 accountants of private agricultural enterprises and 70 accountants of state enterprises of the system of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in the context of 4 elements of the profession: functions and professional ethics of an accountant, legal regulation of accounting activities (organization and methodology accounting and reporting), educational training of accountants, professional accounting associations. To summarize the results of the survey, their illustration and analytical assessment, a graphical method was used. The use of modeling allowed confirmation of the assumption of the conservative nature of the accounting profession in Ukraine and the problematic nature of its self-regulated development. The authors concluded that it is necessary to improve the institution of the accounting profession in Ukraine, provide arguments and directions for solving problematic issues, in particular, the development of the professional movement and self-organization, improving the quality of training of accounting specialists in educational institutions, developing accounting methodology for the agricultural sector, improving the composition and accounting display of accounting objects.

ABSTRACTThis paper analyzes the proposal of the Integral Reform of Higher Secondary Education (RIEMS) to meet the training needs of teachers of that educational level and the challenges for its implementation. To put this proposal in context, data from a study carried out in the state of Tlaxcala in 2014 are retaken. One of the fields that he was investigating were professional profiles and training needs. The results of the study indicate that their needs are mainly related to fields related to didactics, and the areas of greatest deficiency revealed by large-scale evaluations. Different studies emphasize problems in training: the scarce approach with teachers to identify their needs, the absence of a pedagogical system that responds to the conditions of teachers, and few studies of the impact of training on improving teaching and learning.RESUMENEste trabajo analiza la propuesta de la Reforma Integral de la Educación Media Superior (RIEMS) para atender las necesidades de formación de los profesores de ese nivel educativo y los retos para su implementación.

Abstract Context Mutations in type I collagen or collagen-related proteins cause Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). Energy expenditure and body composition in OI could reflect reduced mobility, or intrinsic defects in osteoblast differentiation increasing adipocyte development. Objective Compare adiposity and resting energy expenditure (REE) in OI and healthy controls (HC), for OI genotype- and Type-associated differences. Design/Setting/Participants We studied 90 participants, 30 with OI (13 COL1A1 Gly, 6 COL1A2 Gly, 3 COL1A1 non-Gly, 2 COL1A2 non-Gly, 6 non-COL; 8 Type III, 16 Type IV, 4 Type VI, 1 Type VII, 1 Type XIV) and 60 HC with sociodemographic characteristics/BMI/BMIz similar to the OI group. Participants underwent dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry to determine lean mass and fat mass percentage (FM%) and REE. FM% and REE were compared, adjusting for covariates to examine the relationship of OI genotypes and phenotypic Types. Results FM% did not differ significantly in all patients with OI versus HC (OI: 36.6±1.9%, HC: 32.7±1.2%, p =0.088). FM% was, however, greater than HC for those with non-COL variants (p=0.018). FM% did not differ from HC among OI Types (p’s>0.05). Overall, covariate-adjusted REE did not differ significantly between OI and HC (OI: 1376.5±44.7 kcal/d, healthy controls: 1377.0±96 kcal/d p=0.345). However, those with non-COL variants (p=0.034) and Type VI OI (p=0.04) had significantly lower REE than HC. Conclusions Overall, patients with OI did not significantly differ in either extra-marrow adiposity or REE from BMI-similar HC. However, reduced REE among those with non-COL variants may contribute to greater adiposity.

Since 2011, massive open online courses (MOOCs) fired the imagination of the general public as well as the academics, university administrators and investors alike. This chapter is an analysis of the main promises and expectations associated with MOOCs in higher education. This analysis is largely informed by a literature review of new extensive research reports, press releases, media articles, scholarly blogs and academic papers. Considering costs and benefits, ethical aspects and the impact on the landscape of higher education, the author explores whether MOOCs stay consistent with their initial promises and rhetoric. This chapter continues the discussion on the book section ‘RIA and education practice of MOOCs,' with the particular focus on the topic of ‘educational training design.'

Background. Stroke survivors with aphasia experience difficulty associated with their communication disorder. While much has been written about aphasia’s impacts on partners/family, we lack data regarding the psychosocial adjustment of aphasic stroke survivors, with a paucity of data from the patients themselves. Methods. Qualitative study of lived experiences of individuals with poststroke aphasia. Each of the stroke survivors with aphasia completed 3-4 semistructured interviews. In most cases, patients’ partners jointly participated in interviews, which were transcribed and analyzed using techniques derived from grounded theory. Results. 12 patients were interviewed, with the total of 45 interviews over 18 months. Themes included poststroke changes in patients’ relationships and identities, which were altered across several domains including occupational identity, relationship and family roles, and social identity. While all these domains were impacted by aphasia, the impact varied over time. Conclusion. Despite the challenges of interviewing individuals with aphasia, we explored aphasia’s impacts on how individuals experience their identity and develop new identities months and years after stroke. This data has important implications for primary care of patients with aphasia, including the importance of the long-term primary care relationship in supporting psychosocial adjustment to life after aphasic stroke.

Educational context plays a role in promoting and maintaining multicultural competence. Whereas in the past decade psychology has considered the impact of multiculturalism in educational training; however, less attention has been paid to the institutional contexts that house these efforts. In this paper, four professional psychologists with expertise in multicultural education enumerate the barriers they encountered as they attempted to establish culture-centered educational contexts. Focusing on three specific educational contexts (a psychology department, a training clinic, and a medical setting), they provide insightful and compelling narratives that educators can relate to and apply to their own institutions. The article concludes with recommendations.<br />

PURPOSE To evaluate, in a long-term follow-up study of consecutive patients (N = 99), the impact of surgery--breast-conserving treatment (BCT) versus mastectomy (MT)--on psychosocial adjustment among women with breast cancer, pTNM stage I/II. PATIENTS AND METHODS Semistructured interviews were conducted at a median of 6 years (range, 5.8 to 8.1) after primary surgery. Sixty-six women were available for the long-term follow-up study. Twenty-six women had been treated with BCT and 40 with MT. RESULTS No statistically significant differences were found between the two groups concerning psychosocial adjustment, as measured by the Social adjustment Scale (SAS). In general, the levels of maladjustment were lower than at 13 months postoperatively, but 10% still showed maladjustment. Sixty percent of the women were unwilling to show themselves naked, and 22% felt that they had become less attractive because of the surgical treatment. In an explorative part of the interview, 68% of the women complained about how they had been informed of the diagnosis. A tendency toward a significant difference was found in the relation between previous maladjustment and a negative experience at the time of diagnosis (P = .07). CONCLUSION Few data are available on long-term follow-up results with regard to psychosocial adjustment among women after breast cancer surgery. This study provides the important information that there are no differences in patient psychosocial adjustment that can be ascribed to the type of surgery at 6-year follow-up evaluation.
