The paper investigates the challenges associated with utilization of legal information resources in the faculty of law libraries in federal universities of northern Nigeria. The study employed quantitative research method using cross-sectional survey research design. The population of the study comprised of 1,348 postgraduate law students in the libraries studied. Simple random sampling equation (SRS-Equation) was used to select the sample size for the study. A total of 308 postgraduate law students was therefore the sample size chosen for the study. A self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data. A total number of 308 copies of questionnaire were administered personally by the author and 4 research assistants, out of which 271 were returned and found useful for further analysis. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics with the aid of SPSS (v21). Findings revealed that, the printed legal information resources were highly utilized by postgraduate law students except e-resources and on-line legal databases that had low utilization. Some challenges associated with the utilization of legal resources were insufficient copies of books, inadequate reading facilities and defaced information resources; inadequate infrastructure for accessing resources electronically, insufficient computers and interrupted power supply, among others. The study concludes that, despite the technological advancement and globalization the world is experiencing, postgraduate law students in federal universities of northern Nigeria are yet to fully enjoy the vast electronic legal information resources, and this could significantly affect the quality of legal researches and academic excellence in legal profession. The study recommends among other things the need for the provision of adequate electronic legal information resources and regular subscription to online legal databases in the faculty of law libraries in federal universities in northern Nigeria. Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected a huge number of people around the world. It has increased worldwide mortality and morbidity and is accompanied by different signs and symptoms. Some researchers have linked oral manifestations as introductory signs for COVID-19, such as vesiculobullous lesions, non-specific stomatitis, and oral ulcers. The oral cavity has been perceived as a potential reservoir for asymptomatic COVID-19 infection, specifically the salivary glands and the oral mucosa. This study builds on a previous case report by the authors on COVID-19 associated gingival bleeding in an attempt to investigate the generalization of this relation. Methods: A cross-sectional survey based on a structured, pre-tested, and validated questionnaire that was adapted and modified by the authors was carried out electronically for a minimal sample size of patients that was calculated for this study beforehand. This study was approved by the Batterjee Medical College ethical committee and data collection followed a structured criteria and a clear work plan based on the established inclusion criteria.  Results: The questionnaire had a high response rate of 315 participants. 63.2% (n=199) reported gum bleeding during virus infection time – 25.6% (n=51) of whom reported that this symptom was present prior to COVID-19 infection. 88.9% (n=177) of participants reported only mild bleeding. Gingival bleeding was more prevalent among females 63.8% (n=127) compared to males 36.2% (n=72) (odds ratio: 0.859 [95% CI, 0.530 to 1.394]). Conclusion: Gingival bleeding may be considered as one of the signs of COVID-19 and is a prevalent symptom as reported by infected patients. However, a larger sample size and investigation of hospitalized moderate and severe cases of the disease would help elucidate the actual association.

To be a going concern, road transportation firms like other organizations have to go beyond the usual goal of just making a profit to always keeping their commuters satisfied with the nature of services rendered to them. This study examined commuter care management and the sustainability of road transport firms in the South-South region, Nigeria. The study sought to investigate two dimensions of commuter care specifically waiting for time and employees’ attitude and the influence of these on commuter referrals and retention respectively. A Cross-sectional survey was carried out where data were collected using a structured questionnaire. A sample size of three was used for the transportation companies while a sample size of 329 was used for the commuters. The simple linear regression statistical tool was used in analyzing the data through the aid of the E-View 19 statistical package. Findings from the study revealed that there exists a significant positive influence of waiting time on commuter referrals and of employee attitude on commuter referrals. It was therefore recommended that management of road transport firms should ensure that commuters do not wait for too long before the take-off time, they should make sure vehicles are serviced, fuelled and take off as at when scheduled; employees should also be constantly trained to ensure their attitude to commuters are appropriate.

Introduction: The provision of drug information (DI) is a fundamental responsibility of pharmacists. The availability of advanced technology and mobile devices has greatly affected how drug information is retrieved.  Utilization of these resources and references are unique skills taught in pharmacy programs to help meet the need of pharmacists in practice and to meet national accreditation standards.  Currently there is little information on how different factors influence pharmacy students’ choice of drug information resources. Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional survey was developed to assess pharmacy students’ utilization of tertiary DI resources by age, gender, and year in professional program. The survey was developed using the software Qualtrics® and contained questions pertaining to the selection of specific tertiary DI resources used most often for a variety of DI topics. Differences between groups were calculated using ANOVA. Results: Students in their P4 year utilized tertiary DI resources more frequently than students in their P1 and P2 year (p= <0.001, 0.001 respectively).   There were no differences in the frequency of resource utilization between males and females surveyed (p=0.656, MD = 0.0652). Total usage of DI resources differed by year in professional school. Conclusion: The results of this study may be beneficial to pharmacy schools as it provides insights into the factors that influence student preference for tertiary drug information resources.  This study found that age, year in school, and type of drug information request impacted students’ use of tertiary DI resources.

Aim: Considering the technological age that we find ourselves in this 21st century, it would be expected that, the number of students willing to study physics will increase exponentially. However, reports indicate a sharp reduction of students in physics classrooms. This study therefore sought to identify the challenges and way forward for improving physics teaching and learning in Senior High Schools in Ghana. Study Design: Descriptive cross-sectional survey was used for the study. Methodology: The main instrument used for the study was questionnaire. The sample size for the study comprised both physics teachers and students. The sample size for the teachers was made up of 38 teachers which comprised 34 males and 4 females who were selected using the convenient sampling approach. The sample size for the students consisted of 750 students selected by stratified sampling of which 520 were males and 230 were females. Results: While the teachers perceived the most important factor affecting the teaching and learning of physics to be students-related problem, the students on the other hand perceived the major challenge affecting the teaching and learning of physics to be teacher-related. For both teachers and students, provision of adequate resources like well-equipped laboratories for teaching and learning is an assured way of improving the teaching and learning of physics in senior high schools in Ghana. Conclusions: The challenges in teaching physics as perceived by both teachers and students are teacher related, student-related and resource-constraints It was recommended that the government must make conscious effort to provide the schools with adequate science resources to facilitate the practical approach to teaching and learning of physics.
