Purpose: To examine the effect of technological adoption strategy on the Performance of SACCOs in KenyaMethodology: The study was a cross-sectional survey with a descriptive research design. This design is appropriate because it is considered suitable for gathering information and generating appropriate conclusions with respect to the research questions. The target population of this study was the 181 authorized deposit taking SACCOs in Kenya that have been in existence for at least the last 5 years SASRA (2014). The firms which have been there for 5 years are considered to have adequate knowledge and have deposit mobilization strategies in place. The number of respondents was 181 CEOs and Business development managers, who are in charge of strategies. The study used questionnaires as the main data collection instrument that contained both open and closed ended questions. Questionnaires were preferred because they are effective data collection instruments that allow respondents to give much of their opinions pertaining to the research problem. Primary data was collected through administering of questionnaires to Members of the SACCOs, senior staff of the SACCOs and Cooperative Ministry/regulatory officials. The study employed descriptive analysis technique on the collected data. Multiple regression analysis was used to establish the relationship between the dependent and independent variables.  Results were presented using frequency tables and figures.Results: Correlation analysis showed that technological adoption strategy and performance of Saccos are positively and significantly associated. Regression analysis indicated that technological adoption strategy has a positive and significant effect on performance of Saccos in Kenya. The hypotheses results indicated that there is a significant relationship between technological adoption strategy and performance of Saccos in Kenya. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: From the study findings, it was recommended that Saccos should lay out procedures and strategies such as product innovation, market innovation, technological innovation and process innovation so as to enhance their penetration in the market. Further, the study recommended the need for the firms to invest in technological advancement by equipping their staff with technical skills and also providing them with the necessary facilities.

In addition, the firms should adjust their pricing to ensure that they charge their customers reasonable charges.

The main objective of the study was to determine the relationship between BPR strategy and performance of food manufacturing companies in Kenya. The population of the study comprised of the food manufacturing companies in Kenya. A descriptive cross-sectional survey design was adopted in data collection and analysis. Primary data was collected from respondents using structured questionnaire, while secondary data was collected from published firm’s financial reports. Out of the 75 respondents targeted by the study, 44 respondents forming 56.67% response rate, which was considered adequate for analysis. 63.9% of variations in the overall firm performance is explained by variations in the BPR strategy namely resources mobilization for BPR, sponsorship and commitment, BPR cross functional teams, analytical processes selection, BPR prototypes, management of re-engineered processes, clear BPR definition and vision. Thus, there is a significant relationship between BPR strategy and performance of food manufacturing companies in Kenya. This research makes several noteworthy contributions to the existing theory. Conceptually, the empirical relationship between BPR strategy and firm performance is significant where BPR strategy constructs independently and positively plays a role of fostering firm performance whereby the three significant predictors were: BPR prototypes, clear BPR definition & vision, and analytical processes selection. These three are distinct development elements of the BPR strategy which competitors are unable to imitate in the food manufacturing. The findings of this study offer suggestions that are beneficial to policy makers in the food-manufacturing sector in Kenya. Kenyan manufacturing firms have previously lacked fits well into the existing body of knowledge by holding that BPR strategy influence the firm’s level of performance and vice versa.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish the influence of strategic e-procurement practice on performance of Devolved systems of government in Kenya. Methodology: The study adopted cross-sectional survey design using both quantitative and qualitative approaches.  The target population was all the 47 devolved systems of government. The sample size was the 10 counties namely; Garissa, Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, Marsabit, Murang’a, Bomet, Nairobi, Kiambu and Homa Bay specifically employees working under finance and procurement department. The study adopted stratified random sampling to pick 186 respondents from finance and procurement department. Data was collected by using questionnaires Descriptive and inferential statistics was used aided by Statistical Packages for Social Sciences version 24 to compute percentages of respondents’ answers.  Hypothesis testing was carried using multiple regression analysis and standard F tests. The results were presented using tables. Results: The  study  findings  revealed  that  Strategic e-procurement practice explained  49.6%  of the  total  variations  in  performance  of  devolved systems of government  in  Kenya.  Further,  results  indicate that  the  overall  model  was  statistically  significant as  supported  by  a  p  value  of  0.000.  This was  supported  by  an  F  statistic  of  (F=155.245, p<0.05) and  the  reported  p  value  (0.000)  which  was  less than  the  conventional  probability  of  0.05  significance  level. The standardized regression coefficient for Strategic E-procurement was 0.704. This indicates that a unit increase in the Strategic E-procurement would result in 70.4% increase in the performance of Devolved systems of government in Kenya this implied that there   is   a strong positive relationship   between Strategic E-procurement  and  performance  of  Devolved systems of government in  Kenya . Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy:  Based on the findings, the study recommends that devolved systems of government should adopted e-procurement system and automate all procurement operation procedures to enhance smooth work flow and hence improve efficiency the study further  recommends that  Devolved systems of government should adopt e-procurement for various uses such as in the standardization of services for representation in the catalog, sourcing goods and services globally, as way of reducing costs in areas such tendering processes, payment and contract management. But management should be aware and cautious that e-procurement is capital intensive in terms of acquisition and laying down the required infrastructure and highly perishable. Thus the study recommends that strategic e-procurement practice should be implemented within the legal framework of public procurement acts and regulations because it moderate has positive correlation with the performance of Devolved systems of government in Kenya. The findings are in harmony with technology acceptance model which suggest that emerging technologies cannot improve organizational effectiveness and performance if the change has not been accepted by the users. Therefore first it’s crucial for the users to accept the new technology (e-procurement) so as to reduce administrative costs, possible broadening of suppliers’ base, and easy access to preferred goods. In conclusion technology acceptance model can be used by future scholars.

Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of supplier selection on the supply chain efficiencies in the county Government of Nandi. The study was guided by the following theories: transaction cost theory and the contingency theory. The study employed an explanatory survey which was cross-sectional in time dimension. Methodology: A proportionate stratified random sampling based on departmental section was utilized. The primary data collection procedure involved a survey where a self–administered questionnaire was used. With reference to content validity, the questionnaire was reviewed by a panel of experts before pilot testing was done. Once the data was cleaned, sorted and entered, it was analysed through the use of descriptive analysis (frequency distribution, means, standard deviation) with the data being presented in tabular and pictorial format. The inferential statistics (multiple regression), will be conducted at 95 per cent confidence level with significance levels of 0.05. The results were displayed using tables. Findings: The findings of the study indicated that supplier selection practices had positive and significant influence on supply chain efficiency, Kenya (β =0.114; p<0.05. The concluded that supplier selection is the predictor of supply chain efficiency of county government of Nandi. The study recommended that the county government of Nandi other organizations at large should show more commitment in SRM by having systems to monitor and appraise and evaluate performance at a strategic level. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study could be replicated in other industry sectors of the economy to build on the body of knowledge of supplier selection on performance of organizations.

This paper was anchored on a pragmatic research paradigm. The study used a cross-sectional survey where a self-semi structured questionnaire was administered to collect the primary data from the target population who were youth-owned SMEs. The study was limited to 135 youth-owned enterprises where 357 employees were selected randomly to form the study sample; the key respondents of the study were limited to owner-managers of small and micro enterprises and top management employees. The questionnaires were tested for reliability and validity. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study revealed that there is a significant relationship between youth-owned. The study revealed that entrepreneurship networking has a significant effect on the performance of the agro-processing SMEs owned by the youths. However, there is a need for SMEs to further establish networks outside their business circle and seek networks with other bigger firms in the market. The study, therefore, recommends that there is a need for SMEs to invest more in social media marketing and networking of the SMEs for improved performance.

This study aims to determine how the influence of security, easy, trust and performance risk to online purchasing decisions either partially, simultaneously or dominant. This type of research using survey. The sample in this research 50 respondents there is users of tokopedia.com in Lumajang district. Methods of data collection with questionnaires distributed online using google forms. Data analysis using descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results showed variable security, easy, trust and performance risk  partially have a significant positive effect on online purchasing decisions. While the simultaneous variable security, easy, trust and performance risk have a significant positive effect on online purchasing decisions. While the most dominant in influencing purchasing decision online is the security.

This study has been undertaken (i) to examine the extent of disagreements in the perceptions of children and their mothers about the influence exerted by children in family buying decisions; (ii) to evaluate the impact of child’s gender on the agreement in the perceptions of children and their mothers about the influence exerted by children in family buying decisions. A cross-sectional survey method was carried out with “structured non-disguised” questionnaires to collect the primary data from 400 families residing in rural and urban areas of Delhi, capital of India. Children’s influence across stages of decision making process was measured by using an eleven-item scale developed by Talpade and Talpade (1995). The primary data are analyzed and interpreted with the help of statistical tools such as means, standard deviation, and paired t-test by using SPSS (version 16). Descriptive analysis has also been used to support the results of statistical analysis. The analysis results indicate that disagreements exists in the perceptions of children and their mothers about the influence exerted by children in Indian family buying decisions irrespective of child’s gender. The analysis results, thus, supported all the hypotheses exceptH3 (a/b).

Background: Musculoskeletal disorders are not only becoming prevalent among health care professionals in our country but are affecting their health and performance adversely. They are caused by poor ergonomics and awkward posture during work activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of neck and upper limb musculoskeletal disorders in dentists of Lahore, Pakistan. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted during October 2017 to March 2018. The data was collected using convenient sampling technique from 162 Dentists including 52 males and 110 females of Children hospital Lahore, Punjab Dental hospital and Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore. Data was collected by using Mangalore Questionnaire for identification of musculoskeletal disorders. Descriptive analysis of the data was done using SPSS version 22.0. Results: Of 162 dentists, 115 (71%) suffered from musculoskeletal disorders. Shoulder was the most commonly affected region (30.9%) followed by neck (25.9%), arm (6.2%), wrist (4.3%), elbow (3.1%) and forearm (0.6%). Pain (45.7%) was found to be the most common complaint followed by muscle weakness (20.4%), paraesthesia (3.7%) and swelling (1.2%). Conclusions: It was concluded that majority of the dentists were suffering from musculoskeletal disorders with shoulder as the most affected region and pain as the most frequent complaint. The dynamic nature of business operating environment has called on business leaders to be strategic in their leadership roles if they are to sustain their competitiveness into the unforeseen future. Growth is important in Sacco’s because it is future oriented establishing ways in which the organizational operations can be aligned to future changes in the business environment to ensure that competitiveness is sustained. The SACCOs in Kenya have experienced problems in the past; some even shutting down therefore there is need for customer growth to be enhanced so as to increase their incomes so as to sustain the business. These SACCOs have to look for leaders and managers who can develop future targets, direct and lead other staffs towards meeting the firm’s objective and gaining a competitive edge. The aim of this study was an assessment of corporate growth strategies and performance in savings and cooperative societies in Kenya, Nairobi County. The study sought to determine the influence of market expansion, diversification strategies and acquisition strategies. The study target population was 41 licensed SACCOs in Nairobi County. The study used primary data to collect information, and the data collection instrument was a questionnaire which was given to the 41 operations managers in the 41 selected SACCOs. The data collection procedure was done by the researcher and drop-and-pick strategy will be applied. The data was coded and keyed in Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS Version 23.0), and was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. For descriptive statistics was through mean scores, standard deviations, frequencies and percentages, while the inferential statistics was through regression analysis to establish the relationship between strategic leadership and customer growth. The findings were presented in tables and charts for easy understanding, interpreting, and describing the data. The study established that market expansion, diversification strategies and acquisition strategies as corporate growth strategies had a positive and significant effect on the performance of SACCOs in Nairobi City County. The study concluded that the SACCOs significantly employed market expansion strategies through improved branch network, customer base enhancement, new distribution channels and technological innovation. The study concluded that the SACCOs embraced a hybrid of the main diversification strategies, diverse products and services significantly. It was concluded that to a little extent the selected SACCOs in Nairobi City County have employed acquisition as a corporate growth strategy. The study recommends that the SACCOs should embrace integrate technology in the implementation of corporate growth strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.  Further studies should be undertaken to establish the effect of corporate growth strategies on the performance of other SACCOs in other regions to establish the disparities or similarities among the financial sector players.

ObjectiveIn March 2011, New Zealand (NZ) launched an aspirational goal to reduce smoking prevalence to 5% or less by 2025 (Smokefree 2025 goal). Little is known about university students’ awareness of, support for and perceptions about this goal. We sought to narrow the knowledge gap.SettingUniversity students in NZ.MethodsWe analysed data from a 2018 cross-sectional survey of university students across NZ. Logistic regression analysis examined the associations between responses about the Smokefree goal with smoking and vaping, while controlling for age, sex and ethnicity. Confidence intervals (95% CI) were reported where appropriate.ParticipantsThe sample comprised 1476 students: 919 (62.3%) aged 18 to 20 and 557 (37.7%) aged 21 to 24 years; 569 (38.6%) male and 907 (61.4%) female; 117 (7.9%) Māori and 1359 (92.1%) non-Māori. Of these, 10.5% currently smoked (ie, smoked at least monthly) and 6.1% currently vaped (ie, used an e-cigarette or vaped at least once a month).ResultsOverall awareness of the Smokefree goal was 47.5% (95% CI: 44.9 to 50.1); support 96.9% (95% CI: 95.8 to 97.8); belief that it can be achieved 88.8% (95% CI: 86.8 to 90.7) and belief that e-cigarettes/vaping can help achieve it 88.1% (95% CI: 86.0 to 89.9).Dual users of tobacco cigarettes and e-cigarettes had greater odds of being aware of the Smokefree goal (OR=3.07, 95% CI: 1.19 to 7.92), current smokers had lower odds of supporting it (OR=0.13, 95% CI: 0.06 to 0.27) and of believing that it can be achieved (OR=0.15, 95% CI: 0.09 to 0.24) and current vapers had greater odds of believing that e-cigarettes/vaping can help to achieve it (OR=8.57, 95% CI: 1.18 to 62.52) compared with non-users.ConclusionsThe results suggest strong overall support for the Smokefree goal and belief that it can be achieved and that e-cigarettes/vaping can help achieve it. Smoking and vaping were associated with high awareness of the Smokefree goal, but lower support and optimism that it can be achieved.
