Abstract: This study seeks to better understand the online resources and lesson contents that Canadian art museums offer secondary school art teachers. The author conducted a content analysis of online teacher resources and lessons developed by four Canadian art museums during 2016. By looking at the various resources through the lens of a high school teacher/researcher, the author highlighted how these resources presented differences in curriculum and fostered self-reflection in students. The relationship between the art museum and the school teacher was examined. To better understand this relationship, further research on online resources developed by museums to increase pedagogical possibilities should be conducted.

Policy-level interventions aim to expedite institutional change in universities but the related decisions rarely materialize as sustained grassroots-level implementations genuinely transforming teaching or learning practices. A vision without execution remains mere rhetoric or could even disrupt the persistent long-term development that committed teachers pursue as their more subtle and routine mode of operation. This article therefore suggests that attention be turned to classroom processes and research efforts that allow university teacher-researchers to practice their occupation in the most effective way possible. Such efforts draw on teacher resources, competence and motivation, and benefit the students through an elevated quality and targeted content of education. This article showcases an empirical development endeavor from Aalto University that, while responding to doctoral students’ learning needs and institutional demands for higher publication productivity, enhances teacher capacity and paves the way for a more extensive bottom-up institutional reform of doctoral education. The data-driven, quantitative analysis of a sample of 381 doctoral candidates in engineering directs the pedagogic focus in a doctoral writing course away from grammar and linguistic proficiency towards writing support that accentuates usability and communicative value. In particular, the study proposes foci on writing efficiency, effect and reader satisfaction, ultimately facilitating publication productivity and quality. This article describes the pedagogical basis for the Writing Doctoral Research course that was built as a result of the needs analysis, and presents the related course design and organization. The ultimate aim is to substantiate allocation of language teacher working hours to research by demonstrating how audience needs analyses can benefit both the quality of education and teacher renewal.

Faced with mounting policy pressures from federal and state accountability programs, school leaders are reallocating curricula, time, even diet in an attempt to boost student achievement. To explore whether they are using test score data to reallocate their teacher resources as well, I designed a cross-case, cross-sectional study and explored principals’ reported staffing practices in one higher performing and one lower performing elementary school in each of five Florida school districts. Findings show that school leaders are “staffing to the test” by hiring, moving, and developing teachers in an effort to increase their schools’ overall performance. The paper discusses the implications of evidence-based staffing for policy, practice and future research.

Much attention has been given to increasing the supply of qualified teachers to meet the forecasted demand for teachers, which is expected to exceed two million over the next decade. Even with these efforts, school districts will find themselves in ever greater competition with other districts to hire the best teacher talent available. Only those districts that identify that they are in a highly competitive hiring environment, and who take aggressive action to compete for the best talent will have the teacher resources necessary to provide excellent educational programs for students in the future. This article identifies actions school districts can take to develop a competitive edge to attract and hire the best teacher talent available.

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world, including Indonesia, requires taking a stand in preventing wider transmission, including the education sector. In this regard, the Ministry of Education and Culture has taken a firm stance through several circular letters relating to education policies in the emergency period of the spread of Covid-19. The distance learning process is a solution that is not yet optimal in its implementation. There are things that must be considered in this distance learning, among others, the quality of teacher resources must be improved, both in terms of content and methodology as well as in terms of the use of information technology. The issue of Islamic education management governance in global education is the main objective of this secondary data review. To complete the discussion of this study, we have collected a series of data and literature on several data sources electronically in educational journal publications, book proceedings, and website databases that actively voice Islamic education issues in a global context. We cannot describe the data that we collect directly. We analyze it using various approaches, such as sharp evaluation coding and drawing conclusions that can answer the essence of the problems of this book review. The data we take online is as much as possible to look for the more up-to-date ones published in the last ten years. Finally, we can conclude that based on the findings and discussion data, among others, issues relating to the governance of Islamic religious education still leave problems and challenges, including the difficulty of achieving quality education due to issues of teacher resources that are still low in the mastery of technology that is still lacking. Straightforward access to education is still unequal, and issues related to leadership and school leadership in general education and the Islamic religion. We hope that these results will be a meaningful input in developing studies related to issues and governance of education management that will be held in the future.
