In this study, the impact of the Map and Globe Use Training Program on the map and globe reading and interpretation skills of five-year-olds continuing to a preschool program was examined. A semi-experimental model with a pre-test/post-test control group was used to assess the impact of a 10-week map and globe use-training program in the preschools of three educational institutions in Turkey. In addition to the daily life experiences of the children selected for the experimental group in the study, the researchers applied the Education Program on the Use of Map and Globe, while the children in the control group continued to be given regular daily education programs by their teachers. The data were collected using the “Map and Globe Reading and Interpretation Skills Assessment Test for Children Aged Five.” As a result of the study, a statistically significant difference at the level of 0.05 was observed between the mean scores of the experimental and control group members’ map and globe reading and interpretation skills. The result reveals that the applied program is effective and permanent in providing children with map and globe reading and interpretation skills.

ABSTRACT Objectives Long-term therapy with low-dose methotrexate (MTX) is widely used in treatment of rheumatic diseases, in children. The purpose of this study was to evaluate liver elasticity in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) who received MTX and compare the results with control group. Methods Liver elasticity was evaluated with shear wave elastography (SWE) technique in 25 patients aged 3–17 years who were followed up with JIA and received MTX and compared with 25 healthy controls of the same age and weight. Factors that had an effect on liver elasticity were examined. Results The mean SWE value of patients was 2.64 ± 2.13 m/s and 24.10 ± 18.50 kPa, whereas 1.83 ± 0.16 m/s and 10.09 ± 1.83 kPa in control group. There was a significant difference in liver elasticity in the patient and control groups. When the patients were evaluated as Group 1 (< 1000 mg) and Group 2 (≥ 1000 mg) according to the cumulative MTX dose, no significant difference was obtained. There was positive correlation between liver elasticity and weekly MTX dose and age. Conclusions Our study revealed that liver elasticity significantly decreased in patients who received MTX when compared with the control group. The elastography technique will be understood better over time and used safely in many areas.

Abstract : Schizophrenia is a disease process that affects perceptions, emotions, social behavior and the ability to accept reality correctly. Families with schizophrenics often feel anxiety and burdens associated with client care. The problem can be solved by giving FPE therapy. This study aims to explain the effect of Family Psychoeducation (FPE) therapy on anxiety and family burden in caring for family members with schizophrenia. This research uses quasi experiment research pre-post test with control group. The number of respondents in this study were 18 respondents for the control group and 18 respondents for the treatment group. The study was conducted in District Bola from 24 May to 28 June 2017. Giving therapy done by the researchers themselves who have obtained a license from nurse specializing in mental health nursing. Data analysis used in this research is dependent t test and independent t test. The result of dependent t test of anxiety and load test was obtained significance value <0,05, this result showed significant decrease of anxiety and load after FPE therapy. While the results of independent t test showed that the significance of anxiety and family burden <0.05 which means that there is a significant difference in reducing anxiety and family burden between the treatment and control group after being given FPE therapy, that is, with an average decrease in anxiety and burden For the treatment and control groups of 10.11 and 3.5, respectively. This means that FPE is more effective in reducing family anxiety. Thus it is expected that FPE can be applied as an alternative therapy in reducing the anxiety of families who care for people with schizophrenia.
