There is still a wide quality gap between State Universities (SU) and Private Universities (PU) in Indonesia. This research aims to find the strategy pattern of Nahdlatul Ulama University (NUU) in the development of quality management through gender equality-based leadership. The pattern can be seen by using qualitative phenomenological research through interviews with the informants. Data analysis is done in five stages, namely writing all transcripts of interview results, finding statements about research focus, grouping these statements into meaningful units, and constructing all explanations about the meaning and essence of the informant's experience. The results showed that NUU implemented four strategies in the development of quality management through gender equality-based leadership, namely (1) Optimization of the functions of the Center for Women Studies (CWS) and comparative studies, (2) Providing equal opportunities for female and male lecturers to develop their careers, (3) Determining leadership through selection based on specified requirements, and (4) Providing opportunities and support to women to lead. Therefore, the right person would be elected as the leadership to further develop the quality management at NUU. The findings of this study suggest that this strategy pattern can be applied to other private Islamic universities, especially at other NUUs.

The text focuses on researching the sources that define public policies and those that form the legal framework within which there are (or are not) equal opportunities for women and men to exercise their rights under equal conditions, including the right to engage in scientific work. Documents (strategies and action plans) in the fields of education, science, gender equality and non-discrimination are the subject of attention. The research is also supported by legal regulations that positivise public policies through binding norms, which include international legal sources containing human rights and gender equality standards in the field of scientific work, as well as domestic legislation (Constitution and laws). The Constitution of the Republic of Serbia in its basic principles guarantees the equality of women and men and obliges the state to pursue a policy of equal opportunities and take special measures in order to achieve in practice the gender equality proclaimed by the Constitution. Our question is whether the state fulfils this constitutional obligation, whether it pursues a policy of equal opportunities in the field of science, whether it takes special measures as instruments for conducting a policy of equal opportunities, whether any special measures which are undertaken are sufficient and what effect they have.

Europe is very active in terms of conserving plant genetic resources, with hundreds of genebanks and thousands of dedicated people involved. However, the resulting infrastructure is, along with being very expensive, far from efficient and not very reliable. In this opinion paper, the authors describe how this situation arose, and why the European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR), the collaborative umbrella organization of the European countries involved, has not been able to improve this situation so far significantly. The principles of the decentralized virtual genebank (AEGIS) are described, and an analysis is made of the reasons for its lack of success. Possible changes for making AEGIS a success, or at least steps in the right direction, are proposed. These changes center around the creation of a system of certified genebanks with proper quality management, guaranteeing the long-term conservation of, and immediate access to the plant genetic resources conserved in it.

Chapter 1 examines how suffragists recruited wealthy women to the woman suffrage movement, who these donors were, and why they decided to give their money—and sometimes their time—to fight for political equality. This chapter argues that focusing on their feminism highlights a strand of suffragism that called for gender equality rather than emphasized maternalism, the belief that women as mothers (or potential mothers) had the right and the duty to vote in order to protect children and clean up government. Having experienced both the power of money and its limitations influenced the way women linked economic independence and political equality, which they believed were necessary whether one earned wages in a factory, was a professional with a college degree, or inherited a large fortune. Susan B. Anthony had understood that their donations were necessary, and Alva Belmont and Katharine McCormick gave donations essential to winning the right to vote for women.
