Based on the Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais: Geografia (PCN’s) of 1998, we developed a lesson plan proposal with the use of the Rio 2 Film, in light of the understanding of geographic elements present in the fourth cycle of elementary education, specifically the ninth year. The proposal of the lesson plan is based mainly on the writings of Dollfus (1972), Santos (2014), Claval (2014), Costa (2013), Castrogiovanni (2007), Chaui (2000), Santos et al (2011) and Tuan (2012). The methodological proposal is a critique of the traditional pedagogical practices, known as mnemonics, that aim to memorize contents, and do not contextualize with the environment in which the students are inserted. The film Rio 2 is a production of Blue Sky, directed by the Brazilian Carlos Saldanha, and its genre perpasses adventure, comedy and animation. In this way, it presents itself as an excellent medium for the geographical discussion of the concepts: landscape, natural landscape, cultural landscape, geographic space, territory and society and nature. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar práticas pedagógicas desenvolvidas aliando pesquisa ensino para facilitar a leitura e a compreensão de conteúdos geográficos na educação básica.ABSTRACTThe cultural approach that seeks to explore the spatial dimension of culture in geographic science and, consequently, in the teaching of geography, has been revealed as a relevant and revealing possibility of new understandings about the analysis of geographic space, especially, when allied to research projects. We verified, in the schools of basic education, the absence of methodologies that link teaching to research and, in addition, the predominance of teaching based on the repetition of contents. This, in addition to making teaching unattractive to the student, compromises the development of his critical sense. Faced with this portrait, it is necessary to integrate the contents of the disciplines into practical situations that pose problems and enable students to experience situations with the help of theory. This means inserting the practice, over the years in basic education, as a direct reference to enable the student to contrast his studies and to form his own knowledge and convictions. The purpose of this article is to present pedagogical practices developed combining teaching research to facilitate the reading and understanding of geographic contents in basic education. Keywords: Cultural Geography; Pedagogical practices; Geography Teaching.

The natural landscape of the pudong ancient town in Shanghai's waterfront with "bridges, water, people" rich in distinctive cultural landscape has always been popular. Rustic country setting and its rich cultural heritage have attracted many people to want to get to know it. Ancient town in Shanghai have been famous in the world too. "Authenticity" town folk culture is the essence of the town's cultural heritage. On one hand, the attention to the life of local residents and traditional architecture "authenticity" can revitalize traditional cultural heritage, promote tourism development and protection of ancient town. On the other hand, building ecology, energy conservation, and sustainability are the current world trend, most importantly the needs of the world's sustainable economic development. In this paper, taking Shao Jia Lou town house as an example for the transformation of the traditional waterfront interface, based on the waterfront interface environmental features, the adoption of the internal layout of the building materials and re-design the ventilation system, heating systems and new energy sources, ecological transformation has been carefully designed. In addition, some practical design studies have been done regarding the diversification of the use of small space. The precondition of making people aware of China's traditional ecological transformation of the waterfront interface is to extend the traditional culture, ancient town in Shanghai, protect and improve the waterfront environment and raise living standards.

As the number and types of Islamic schools in a Western context have increased, so too have the questions on their purpose and impact in pluralistic Western societies. Amid this increasingly complex environment, questions are raised, both internally and externally, to determine the nature of Islamic educational goals, schools’ knowledge and pedagogical practices. Analysis in this paper draws on multiple sources of data: classical and contemporary literature on education in Islam; the Department for Education (DfE) school census and the Office for Standards in Education; Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted); and empirical case-study data extracted from the author’s PhD thesis on diversity in Islamic schools in Britain conducted during 2008–2012 and subsequently revised during 2018–2019 by following up emergent themes. This paper argues for a need to develop an “Islamic wisdom-based culture” promoting action (‘amal) which nurtures the holistic growth of learners in ethical areas (akhlāq), aesthetics (dhawq/jamāl) and develops a sense of freedom (huriyyah). By doing so, the paper draws primarily on Bennabi’s analysis of the role of culture (thaqāfah) in the civilisation cycle, Ibn-Khaldūn’s analysis of freedom and dignity in educational practice embedded in his discussion of the meanings of humanity) Al-insāniyyah) and Gadamer’s analysis of “practical wisdom”. Firstly, it contextualises Islamic schooling in Britain into a neoliberal pluralistic context. The wisdom inherent in Islamic education is explored through critical dialogue during the process of learning and action. The discussion then considers three key elements of “wisdom-based cultural environment” for Islamic education.

The question of how best to teach learners who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) is perhaps the oldest topic in any area of education for children with diverse learning needs. Developments in a number of fields have accounted for more DHH learners achieving educational outcomes commensurate with their hearing-age peers than at any point in that long history. Efforts to further develop and implement effective educational practices with these learners continue, with an abundance of interventions proposed in the literature and in practice. Despite this, evidence for their efficacy remains limited. Such evidence as there is tends to be drawn from observations of professional practice and not always from the outcomes of high-quality research. This is not to say that a lack of research evidence for a particular educational practice means that it is necessarily ineffective or should not be used. Rather, it is to acknowledge the preeminence of quality research outcomes as the cornerstone of an evidence-base for educational practice with DHH learners while recognizing that contributions can come from two other sources: the expertise and experiences of professionals involved in the education of DHH learners in educational settings, and the views and preferences of DHH learners and their families about how the best educational outcomes can be achieved. The vast majority of DHH learners are educated in regular classrooms alongside their hearing peers, including a significant minority whose primary or preferred language is a signed language. Questions of how best to facilitate access to regular classrooms for those DHH learners are inextricably linked to issues in three areas: (a) communication, language, and literacy; (b) classroom access; and (c) pedagogical practices and other educational supports. The first area covers the unique set of challenges that relate to DHH learners acquiring a language (i.e., whether that be spoken or signed) and how best to support their ongoing development and use of their communication, language, and literacy skills in the classroom. The other two sets of issues, relate to the difficulties that are typically encountered by DHH learners in gaining access to the regular classroom curriculum through their preferred language and mode of communication (i.e., how best to access the auditory and visual environment of the classroom on an equitable basis with their hearing peers), and how best to support that access through instructional techniques and/or specialist support services. In all three areas there remains the challenge of assembling an evidence base for practice from quality research evidence.

In this study, it was aimed to determine prospective social studies and elementary education teachers’ attitudes towards national parks and views on ecology-based environmental education. In this study, which was conducted following the stated purpose, an educational practice was carried out in Termessos National Park (Antalya) for two days in 2018 with a total of 26 prospective teachers enrolled at faculty of education at Akdeniz University, of whom 11 from social studies education and 15 from elementary education. In the study, in which a mixed research design was employed, the “Attitude Towards National Parks Scale” developed by Deniş, Genç, and Demirkaya (2008) was used as a data collection tool. Pretest and posttest analyses of the data were conducted using SPSS to determine the effect of ecology-based environmental education given in the specified national park on the prospective teachers’ attitudes towards national parks. In the qualitative part of the study, the participants’ views on ecology-based environmental education were elicited through interviews conducted before and after the practice education with the help of the “interview form for ecology-based environmental education,” which was developed by the researchers. The data obtained were subjected to content analysis, which is one of the qualitative analysis techniques. The results revealed that the practice “Ecology-based Environmental Education in a National Park” positively affected the prospective teachers’ attitudes towards national parks and contributed positively to their views on ecology-based environmental education.

PALABRAS CLAVE: Educación Lingüística Sustentable; Formación Docente; Práctica Pedagógica Docente; Léxico; Enseñanza   ABSTRACT The authors situate this research within the present educational changes that involve the practice of the teacher-pedagogue, as far as linguistic education is concerned, from the following problems: 1) How do 4th grade teachers of the elementary education incorporate concepts of language teaching as a set of varieties? 2) How would they use a specific lexicon about Amapaense’s discourse, to treat the notion of language as a set of varieties, considering the paradigm of sustainability in language education? In order to solve these problems, the following general objective was developed: -Analyze the teacher’s discourse about the practice of language instruction on linguistic variation at the 4th grade of the elementary education, based on the use of a specific lexicon of local discourse, considering the paradigm of sustainability in language teaching. To achieve this objective, an exploratory-analytical investigation was made, as well as a qualitative methodology of interpretative essence. The object’s specificity requires, in this case, the use of the theoretical-methodological contribution given by the Variance Sociolinguistics (VS), the Sociolinguistic Education (SE), and the sustainability in education, supported by Hargreaves and Fink, in addition to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), among others. For the speeches’ analysis, cutouts from the National Curricula Parameters for the Elementary Education and the Pedagogy Course Project from the Federal University of Amapá (UNIFAP) were used. For information collection, we opted for semi-structured interviews and data triangulation, documentary discourses and the generated material from the field work. Summarized hypotheses: i) pedagogical practices for language learning favor the depth, breadth and duration dimensions of educational sustainability; ii) despite the existence of specific works on the local discourse, within the State’s linguistic education there is not concern about teaching (or reflecting about the mother tongue), from local to universal/national, as suggested by the official documents.   KEYWORDS: Sustainable Linguistic Education; Teacher training; Teacher’s Pedagogical Practice; Lexicon; Teaching. The integration of online technologies in educational practice is rendering new opportunities for teaching and learning. It is known that instructors who have taught fully online courses have acquired new skills and have had the opportunity to implement novel pedagogical practices in the online environment. However, it is unclear whether direct exposure to fully online teaching facilitates the integration of technology in traditional classrooms. This qualitative investigation examined the transfer of four experienced faculty members’ pedagogical practices from online to face-to-face teaching. Results of this case study show that (a) the instructors’ online teaching experience influenced their perceptions and understanding of online pedagogical strategies, and (b) the transfer of pedagogical strategies back to the classroom is a complex process influenced by the instructors’ teaching style, satisfaction with working in the online environment, and the similarity of content and context between online and face-to-face courses. These findings have the potential to inform innovations in faculty training and development and to promote further research in this area.
