English is valued as the most widely speaking language of the world. This language is very significant in the present era of modernization considering its aggrandizement the horizon for the individual. We inhabit in a multiform earth with n olio of cultures as well as languages. English has emanated as commanding language and the awareness in English supports us to attach yonder our cultu9ral margins. From exertion to pedagogical barter to commerce, the language assists us associate at an international extent. Universal trade, scholastic exchange, aesthetic exchange along with numerous others have been authorized and ameliorated by English language. This language has been a game changer for the world economy. The country which embraces English language rapidly, has been manifested to be generous in the aeon of globalization. The obtainability of English erudite youngsters has furnished a boost for the hospitality industry in the country. The large space in the aerospace technology in any country has been endorsed by the insight of English. The tourism sector reckons on English language. This provides it a functioning recognition by manufacturing it comparatively more trouble-free to reach international excursionists. English language learning is noteworthy because it provides outpouring to more of the internet. Currently, in the information media or press, there is exceptionally one language that looms, and that is English. Because the focal point in concomitant civilization has drifted from utilizing contrasting languages one can liaise with, precisely English. The advent of technology has influenced education, even in the most remote parts of the world. Nowadays, it is totally normal for a person to have some technological devices such as laptops, iPads, tablets, and especially cell phones. Ecuador is not far from this reality. Moreover, in the English Language Learning Standards, the Ministry of Education suggests using technological resources in teaching (eg internet, software, computers and related devices). Given this warm welcome to the use of technology in Ecuador’s English classes, as well as the number of students using cell phones in Ecuador, this chapter is intended to provide basic information on the use of cell phone games within English class.

To this date, there has been an increasing number of children across the globe diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. There has been much literature that discussed the issues and obstacles common learners face in their English language learning journey. Yet, not much spotlight and acknowledgment were given to the learners with Autism in their voyage of English language learning. In conjunction to that, this paper intends to investigate the obstacles that the learners with Autism face in their English as secondary language learning. In addition to that, teachers are not to be forgotten as teachers are also believed to be playing a role in learners with Autism’s English as a second language(ESL) learning process which is why this research also intends to investigate the challenges faced by the teachers who are in charge of teaching learners with Autism. A qualitative research with the observation and interview as the instruments represents this research. This research involved two Autism Centres located in an urban area in Malaysia. The observation and interviews were conducted with forty-five learners with Autism and fourteen teachers. The findings have gathered that the world of Autism Spectrum Disorder is indeed full of obstacles and challenges but none that could not be overcome. It is believed that this research will provide a better insight of the real world of ESL teaching and learning among learners with Autism. Discussions and recommendations are further explained in this research.

Abstract This paper will document an English-learning influenced transformation of self, as a shared experience amongst a community of its Chinese users. The study examines 84 English narratives on the English language learning (ELL) experience of undergraduate L1 speakers of Mandarin at three proficiency levels: Year II, Year III and Year IV. Identity, expressed in learners’ positioning on ELL, is assessed in its explicit, propositionally represented form, and its linguistically marked implicit counterpart. Implicit positioning is examined at the macro-discoursal level by acknowledging the choice of the narrative configuration, and therefore the perceptual mould, adopted for the capture of the ELL experience. It is also assessed at the micro-discoursal, sentential level in (1) the registered sense of agency over the learning, (2) the assumed responsibility for statements about the learning, and (3) the character of definition given to the learning. The cross-proficiency level assessment will show that overt and implicit positioning are in consonance in capturing a gradual adoption of an English-mediated access to the world, with resulting altered affiliations, affinities, and sense of being. The study traces the emergence of a Chinese community uniquely defined, in its own perception, by the use of the English language; hence its significance to the World Englishes enterprise.

Abstract Tourism is the leading economy of the 21st century also for Italy. The language could also benefit from it, which statistically performs very well in many areas (on the world stage, on the internet, in foreign language learning, etc.). Unfortunately, the country’s tourist-economic importance does not correlate positively with its language value. Here, the Italian state is asked to do more with investment for the ‚visibility’ of the language in the tourism sector, e.g. with the opening of foreign ENIT headquarters.

This paper reports on case studies of four primary school children and their digital practices in Hong Kong. The study explored how the participating children view and represent through digital text in the context of their out-of-school technology use. Understanding how these practices extended into their English language classrooms was explicated based on emerging data. The study results identify six aspects of emerging skills acquired by the children. These skills were not extended into the childrens schoolwork a reflection on the emphasis on uni-modal language learning in the class setting. A detailed examination of the individual skills led to a set of recommendations for curriculum review, suitable pedagogical strategies and classroom learning resources that English Language Educators may utilize to facilitate development of viewing and representing skills through digital text.

In light of world globalization, three visions of the world order have been examined. The naive cosmopolitanism has been examined first and then rejected as being unrealistic because it overlooks the reasons for state pluralism in the international order. On this naive view, the world state is the only source of sovereignty and the individual is the only focal point of moral concern. Second subject matter of our investigation were Kantian and Rawlsian views which still defend the state-centered view on international relations with peoples as a major subject of moral concern. However, on Rawls view, the principle of peoples' self-determination should be combined with the principles of universal morality which protect some individuals' fundamental rights thus enabling his theory to be classified into moderate liberal internationalism. Third, the idea of functional sovereignty as a foundation of the system of international sovereignty has been abandoned as being too unrealistic given recent tendencies in the world which associate the identities of individuals with cultures and civilizations rather than with practices and professions. Finally, some reasons have been given for preferring Rawlsian approach. The major reason is that there are close cultural ties between nations and their states and that this fact can contribute greatly to the resolution of coordination problem among states both internally and externally. .

COVID-19 has disrupted most of the industries in the world. Education is the only industry that is completely transferred to online mode in most countries around the world. Online learning was the best solution for continuing education during the pandemic, especially in tertiary education. This study aims to determine the challenges and obstacles confronted by English language learners (EFL) in Science and Arts College, Alula, Taibah University, Saudi Arabia, during switching to online learning in the second semester of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The contribution of this study is to evaluate the learners’ new experiences in online education and to assess the feasibility of the virtual methods of learning. This is achieved by analyzing 184 learners’ responses to the survey-based questionnaire. A descriptive statistical method was used to test the validation of the study. It is found that the main problems that influence and impact online EFL learning during COVID-19 are related to technical, academic, and communication challenges. The study results show that most EFL learners are not satisfied with continuing online learning, as they could not fulfill the expected progress in language learning performance.

This study aimed at evaluating the implementation of integrated TBLT and ELLIS which emphsized on observing, questioning,  exploring,  and  communicating.  The integrated learning had been implemented at two different classes of SMPN 1 Banguntapan and SMPM Piyungan in Bantul regency, Yogyakarta. The task resources were selected from ELLIS units involving sixteen units. Of quesionnaires and interviews, the results indicated that the developed tasks had already met the standard of learning competence at the level. Teachers and students responded in several aspects, namely; learning objective, content material, integrated language skill exercise, and self-evaluation availibility. Thus, the integrated tasks conclusively helped the students achieve better and easier understanding, promotes learning interest, and evaluate their own learning and progress, inasmuch as these tasks equipped with the individual and group exercises. This study implies that combination of TBLT and ELLIS generated better opportunities to create more innovative English teaching.

As known, the end of the 20th - the beginning of the 21st centuries in linguistics is characterized by language learning and studying the language processes from the perspective of anthropocentric paradigm. Moreover, at the age of globalization and innovative technologies, it was the English language that became the working language throughout the world which could not but affect its system. With spread of internet in virtual communication people tend to use the tools to save language. Despite the fact that in the scientific literature there is a great deal of works devoted to the study of different aspects of conversion, there is not a single study in which conversion would be considered as a mechanism of the principle of language saving. The relevance of our study is also explained by the fact that, unlike our predecessors, we consider conversion not as a word-building tool or one of the types of transposition, but as a universal language tool that needs a more detailed and complete description in the language. It is conditioned with the need to consider the factors of cognitive nature that determine the appearance and choice of particular conversion, both as reflection of the needs of the language itself and the communicative tasks of the speaker.
