Malay language acquisition among National Type School (NTS) is not at a satisfactory level. Malay language is important for Malaysians because it is the main communication language all over Malaysia. The Ministry of Education also makes it compulsory to all Malaysian students to pass the Malay language in examinations. The researcher’s preliminary review shows that NTS pupils have difficulties in identifying verbs which is equivalent to Sivaneswary’s research (2019) which shows NTS pupils are weak in identifying verbs in Malay language. They also face difficulties communicating in Malay because lack in vocabulary of verbs. The previous studies show that NTS pupils need to improve in Malay language. Studies also show that lack in vocabulary can affect pupils’ ability in communicating in Malay. However, there is not much research done to NTS pupils in improving their vocabulary of verbs. Therefore, an action research which includes quantitative and qualitative approach has been done to 30 year 5 NTS pupils. A language activity was carried out to pupils to improve their vocabulary in verbs. Data from pre and post-examinations, and interviews were analysed to examine the effectiveness of the activity introduced. Data shows that the activity has improved pupils’ ability in finding correct verbs. Furthermore, they are found to be motivated to take part in Malay lessons and communications. This research can be done in NTS schools for Malay lessons to aid pupils to improve their Malay vocabulary in verbs and drive them to communicate this language. Teachers can create a lively and entertaining lesson too.

<p class="1"><span lang="X-NONE">Over the past several decades, a substantial body of research on second language acquisition has been provided. The current study was an attempt to investigate language teachers’ views on applying research findings in their every day practice of language teaching through a critical lens. Data for this qualitative study was collected by means of a semi structured interview with 10 language teachers teaching English at different language institutes in Iran. Analyses of data revealed that, although teachers find second language acquisition research a useful tool for their professional development; they do not usually consult bodies of research in their every day teaching practice. They report problems in applying second language research in their practice due to problems with practicality, particularity, and possibility. The findings suggest that language teachers need to be exposed to insight from SLA research and practice.</span></p>

This paper investigates the conceptions of research held by English as a foreign language teachers in Argentina. Quantitative data from 622 participants from an online questionnaire were followed by qualitative data from online interviews with 40 of those participants. Results show that the teachers conceptualised research through conventional notions closer to a quantitative paradigm. They felt research was not part of their job, and a lack of time was the main reason for not engaging in/with research. Teacher development, agency, empowerment, and autonomy could be sought by engaging teachers with forms of research which are meaningful to them, such as action research.

Every year, thousands of Malaysian students are sent to study abroad by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) which causes several underestimated stress, especially those faced by the Muslims. This qualitative study aimed to explore the challenges of acculturation among Malaysian Muslim students studying abroad. The researchers adopted a phenomenological design approach to develop in-depth understanding of the topic. The six respondents in the study were former Malaysian students studying in Australia, the United States of America, South Korea, India, Jordan, and the United Kingdom. The respondents were interviewed, and the interview protocol guided the interview until the data reached saturation. The data obtained were analyzed in stages, starting with descriptive coding, topic coding, analytical coding, and themes identification. This process was done using Atlas. ti 8 software. The main findings highlight two research themes: the challenges to expose Islamic identity and practicing the Islamic lifestyle. Findings also suggest that Malaysian Muslim students should consider improving Islamic knowledge as it reflects the impressions of other religions on Muslims as a whole. This study’s findings are important for the student sponsorship and student welfare section of the university in providing an appropriate counselling program for international students dealing with acculturation issues. We also suggest that future research explore acculturation challenges to identify the holistic need of the multicultural counselling service.

Kata Kunci: Peningkatan hasil belajar, Bilangan berpangkat, Problem Posing ABSTRACT The lack of student’s study interest especially on mathematics, one of the reason is the method is still conventional and students work individually, with the result that students harder to understanding the concept correctly. The purpose of this research is improving learning outcome on exponential numbers with problem posing model in 3rd years students on State Junior High School Batu. This research using Classroom Action Research design and qualitative approach, which is the research that not using statistics technique. This Classroom Action Research executed in two cycle. Every cycle consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Based on data that obtained from the 1st cycle until 2nd cycle and based on observation from every cycle there is an achievement increase that is students that having under the minimum learning mastery standard from the initial is 17 students increase to 7 students, then there is increase the numbers of students that having on the minimum learning mastery standard from 18 to 27 students, and the average of students’ test from 62,29 to 71,76 (increasing 2,47%), so the percentage of learning mastery increased from 48,6% to 79,4% increase for about 30,8%. This shows that Problem Posing approach can increasing student’s study result especially on exponential numbers subject. Keyword: Increase of study result, Exponential numbers, Problem Posing

This paper tries to explore that, Action Research is a supplementary source for English Language Teachers to bring out better teaching outcome of the teachers and better learning outcomes of the students. In the current scenario, apart from the syllabus, English Language teachers expect a supplementary source to follow a new strategy in order to satisfy the expectations of the students inside the classroom. They face many challenges in the classroom and one of the important problems is to draw continuous involvement of the students as well as to create good understanding of the subject in the classroom. In this connection, Action Research helps the teachers to explore effective teaching strategy in the classroom. This Action Research is integrated with a new approach called MUSE (Manageable, Urgent, Significant and Engaging), that helps the teachers to plan effectively. Besides, it is an exploratory or activity based classroom research and so it encourages the students to learn effectively and understand clearly with more involvement in the classroom. This study suggests a need for the supplementary source and it also focuses on Action Research to aid the teachers.
