This study aims to examine the textbook “Genki I: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese” in terms of cultural elements. The data of this qualitative research were collected by means of the document review method. Content analysis, one of the qualitative analysis techniques, was used in the evaluation of the research data. A second coding was carried out by a second researcher to ensure the reliability of the study. The categories in the study were formed in the line of the cultural product, thought and behavior classifications developed by Tomalin & Stempleski (1993). In addition, the tools for cultural instruction, as taught by Qu (2010), Frank (2013), Peterson & Coltrane (2003), have helped to create the relevant codes. In comparison of the cultural elements in the textbook “Genki I: an Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese”, this study found that the textbook emphasizes more on the elements related to behavioral dimension of the culture, but does not give much room for the elements related to belief dimension. Also, the textbook “Genki I: an Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese” was observed to use the device of “describing and explaining the culture”, at most.

It requires sophisticated streaming of big data processing to process the billions of daily social conversations across millions of sources. Dataset needs information extraction from them and it requires contextual semantic sentiment modeling to capture the intelligence through the complexity of online social discussions. Sentiment analysis is one of the techniques to capture the intelligence from Social Networks based on the user generated content. There are more and more researches evolving about sentiment classification. Aspect extraction is the core task involved in aspect based sentiment analysis. The proposed modeling uses Latent Semantic Analysis technique for aspect extraction and evaluates senti-scores of various products under study.

Cyberbullying has become more popular on social networks especially on Twitter due to the popularity of information sharing. However, there is limited research into the tweet content and influence of Twitter profiles of organisations fighting against cyberbullying and bullying. For this article, Twitter profiles of eleven organisations were selected. Tweet contents and profiles features – the number of followers, mentions, retweets, the measure of Klout, interactor ratio and the number of tweet URL clicks – associated with influence and tweet content were analysed. Content analysis of the 321 tweets extracted from the eleven organisations highlighted that advice and opinions were the most discussed categories of tweets. The article showed that influence is a multifaceted concept. It involves not looking just at the popularity of the user but how content attracts other users, how other users react to tweet content and the sentiment the other users feel. Sentiment analysis highlighted the prevalence of sentiments such as fear and trust representing the fight against cyberbullying and bullying.

Çalışmanın sonuçları doğrultusunda medyada sığınmacılar hakkında çıkan haberlerde olumsuz ve şiddet temalı haberlerin azaltılması, Suriyeli sığınmacıların durumu, sahip oldukları haklar ve topluma yansımaları hakkında doğru ve bilgilendirici kamu spotları hazırlanması ayrıca sığınmacıların topluma entegre olma sürecinin her basamağında daha planlı ve etkili bir yol izlenmesi önerilebilir.ABSTRACT IN ENGLISHPerceptions about Syrian refugees on social media: an evaluation of a social media platformIn this research, posts which are about Syrian refugees were published in a social media platform, called as “sözlük” were investigated. The current media environment is complex and has important effects on all aspects of life, including beauty and health. In this sense, YouTube has become one of the main contexts for the dissemination of tutorials and content related to medical procedures such as the application of Botox. Thus, the present study constitutes the first exploratory analysis of YouTube videos in Spanish related to this procedure. A preliminary analysis of 221 YouTube videos yielded a final sample of the 50 most viewed videos within this genre. The analysis was carried out through a quantitative content analysis assessing the popularity of the videos, contact and emotive strategies by the creator, the credibility conveyed, and the characteristics of information about the procedure itself. Results suggest that these influencers align with mainstream Internet celebrity culture in practices that aim at increasing their following and views, as well as calls for subscriptions and visits to other platforms and profiles. Moreover, they include different strategies to establish their credibility but emphasize personal experience. The positive portrayal of the procedure, including positive emotions and content that highlights the benefits, is interesting and supports the commercial nature of much of the content.
