“The quality of education is the top priority of every education unit in Bojonegoro Regency so that various activities programs are raised by schools and establish cooperation with communities especially parents of student guardians or committees in the form of active participation and involvement in various fields. This study included the qualitative type of data collection with observation, documents, and authority, analyzed by qualitative descriptive to answer the research focus on the form of committee participation and the quality of education in SMP N 1 and SMP N 2 Bojonegoro. The results of the study indicate that committee participation in educational units in the academic and non-academic fields, for example, input curriculum development, infrastructure or funding. The quality of education in two schools can be proven by the fulfillment of eight educational standards and added one character standard which is input from the committee as well as high public interest in the school, and alumni accepted in favorite secondary schools (input, process, and output). The answer to the two research focuses is in accordance with Johnlitlle's theory of participation and Deming's theory of quality.”

Various efforts have been done to overcome or at least reduce the severe congestion in Jakarta. For this reason, the local government continues to carry out various strategies. And PT TransJakarta as a company under the auspices of the local government that manages several modes of transportation, also has a big role in overcoming congestion in Jakarta. One of them is by launching several public transportations so that many people will switch to use public transportation. Recently, Transjakarta launched a microbus type public transportation called Mikrotrans. To make it works, TransJakarta must be able to attract public interest to use microtrans. For this reason, a special strategies are needed to attract customers. One of the most important aspects is by controlling the quality of the service in order to make customer satisfied. Several aspects of microtrans service quality are investigated which have major influences on increasing customer satisfaction. And the results show that in general the quality of service at Mikrotrans is quite good. The result shows that the variables of service quality in mikrotrans are good enough in the customer although it still requires evaluation or improvement in several aspects.

The postsecondary accreditation process is a unique system that attempts to evaluate and enhance the quality of higher and professional education in the United States. Critics of accreditation see the process as coercive and a deterrent to academic freedom while others call for accreditors to exercise greater authority. The origination of the process was a result of a number of coinciding events involving the development of educational and professional standards and concern over access. The current focus on assessment of educational outcomes has further established the credibility of postsecondary accreditation and its role in protecting the public interest.

The ranking of LaLiga championship for the 2008/09 season was one of the poorest ever in terms of uncertainty. The main aim of this study is to stimulate public interest in the Spanish League championship. To achieve this, an alternative ranking system is proposed using variables derived from soccer’s internal logic and the quality of the various teams. Applying Kendall’s index of concordance, the two rankings were compared play by play demonstrating the viability of the new model, with different levels of competitiveness. The properties and limitations of the model were compared with the one currently used by LaLiga. Providing a process which makes allowances for the wide range of quality of the teams playing in LaLiga is an alternative intended to foment the competitiveness of the championship.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) not only can cause very severe disease but, less obviously, the virus can also infect science in unpredicted ways. It seems that during these times some basic rules of science will lose validity and we do not know if they will come back. Though not necessarily always being the case, problems can arise from messages that make their way to public media straight from preprints. An impressive example is a recent study on an association between ABO blood groups and the severity of COVID-19. The study was first published as a preprint which almost immediately gathered an enormous amount of public interest though major drawbacks of the study had been identified by members of the scientific community. One of the major advantages of preprints is to present data, even if still incomplete, to the scientific community for an early discussion. It does not serve the quality of science if possible critical considerations are not addressed adequately until these preliminary studies go public and are submitted for publication in classical journals. Accordingly, clear additional rules for handling data derived from preprints are advocated herein. Speed does not have an advantage on its own.

This study aimed to determine the relationship and effect of the GGG variable on the quality of the financial reports in municipal governments in Indonesia by implementing the IIAG (The Ibrahim Index of African Governance) indicator. The variables of this study consist of the participant, legal culture, transparency, responsiveness, public interest orientation, fairness, effectiveness and efficiency, accountability, strategic vision, and human development as independent variables and the quality of financial reports as dependent variables. The method in this study was quantitative, so it was found that partially, only responsive and accountability variables significantly affected the quality of the financial reports. Meanwhile, other independent variables such as participants, legal culture, transparency, public interest orientation, fairness, effectiveness and efficiency, strategic vision, and human development had no significant effect on the quality of financial reports. However, simultaneously, all independent variables had a significant effect on the quality of financial reports. The level of the coefficient of determination obtained was equal to Adj. R2 = 0.299. It means that the quality of local government financial reports was influenced by the independent variable by 29.9%, while 70.1%was influenced by other variables not examined in this study

Abstract Bleed air is brought into aircraft cabins in order to maintain the quality of the air for passenger and crew health and comfort. The bleed air can be contaminated by oil due to oil seal leaks in the compressor which have been reported randomly and generated significant public interest. Previous studies have measured the particulate size distribution in the bleed air entering the cabin, but never distinguished the type and material of the particulate matter (PM). The particulates could be potentially hazardous oil droplets from the oil seal leaks, water droplets due the presence of fog generated by the cooling system, and so on. In this study we propose a novel technique using light scattering technology to distinguish between contaminant types. This technique uses size and complex index of refraction as the measure. Since each material has a distinct index of refraction, by determining the index of refraction, our proposed low-cost detector could distinguish the compound in the aerosol as well as determine the particle size simultaneously.

This chapter is an analysis of the voting campaigns in Poland before the local elections in 2002, 2006, and 2010. The 2002 election was chosen as the starting point of the analysis because of the following facts: 1) those were the first direct local elections for mayors/municipality heads, and 2) the number of council members was reduced by law, all of which heralded an interesting competition. The high turnover rate of candidates for councillors across different regions of Poland in 2002, 2006, and 2010 local government elections has been attributed in part to the volatility caused by greater media and public interest in council issues. Many see the media as the most effective way to get voters' attention. Voters also treat media information about candidates as a very important source of knowledge about the candidate, which helps them to vote. However, it is important to check: 1) which medium is the most popular and effective source of information for local public debate; 2) what is the quality of information being published before and after the local elections; and 3) if the “politician activity” and “society response” is only clearly visible during the elections time or maybe “local debate” develops after the election time. The chapter is based on the qualitative and quantitative research. Surveys were carried out in 2002, 2006, and 2010.
