Article focuses on elaborating social inclusion in health and education policy in DKI Jakarta through Kartu Jakarta Sehat and Kartu Jakarta Pintar program. The program is composed by the governor and vice governor of DKI Jakarta, Joko Widodo and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. By using interpretative method, secondary data and social exclusion and inclusion concept, this article shows that Kartu Jakarta Sehat and Kartu Jakarta Pintar program can be valued as social inclusion program. Through Kartu Jakarta Pintar program everyone who is the citizen of DKI Jakarta can participate in basic education; and through Kartu Jakarta Sehat all citizens of DKI Jakarta get merely health services. The policies make education and health services more open for all people. Participation in education and getting health services are the rights of all people. These rights were acknowledged by international community through International Convension about economic, social and cultural rights in 1966. This convention was ratified by the Indonesian Government through Law Number 11, 2005. So the normative basis of Kartu Jakarta Sehat and Kartu Jakarta Pintar Program is identified as inclusion policy in accordance with the expectation of international community and also is appropriate with the Law of Indonesia.

This paper provides an in-depth description and case application of a conceptual model of social exclusion: aiming to advance existing knowledge on how to conceive of and identify this complex idea, evaluate the methodologies used to measure it, and reconsider what is understood about its social realities toward a meaningful and measurable conception of social inclusion. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s conceptual tools of social fields and systems of capital, our research posits and applies a theoretical framework that permits the measurement of social exclusion as dynamic, social, relational, and material. We begin with a brief review of existing social exclusion research literature, and specifically examine the difficulties and benefits inherent in quantitatively operationalizing a necessarily multifarious theoretical concept. We then introduce our conceptual model of social exclusion and inclusion, which is built on measurable constructs. Using our ongoing program of research as a case study, we briefly present our approach to the quantitative operationalization of social exclusion using secondary data analysis in the Canadian context. Through the development of an Economic Exclusion Index, we demonstrate how our statistical and theoretical analyses evidence intersecting processes of social exclusion which produce consequential gaps and uneven trajectories for migrant individuals and groups compared with Canadian-born, and racial minority groups versus white individuals. To conclude, we consider some methodological implications to advance the empirical measurement of social inclusion.

Abstract: the article discusses social exclusion by problematizing the way in which this concept has been treated in the Human Sciences. The analysis develops from brief outline on the antinomies of modern society and current trends in the human sciences to then present a reflection on the relationships between everyday life and modern society. Finally, he discusses the potential of Vygotsky's proposal as an emancipatory alternative. It is concluded that Vygotsky opens perspectives for a qualitatively new theoretical understanding of what is deficiency and about the different practical and therapeutic experiences as a system Exclusão social e inclusão social: à procura de uma alternativa emancipatória nas Ciências Humanas Resumo: o artigo discute a exclusão social problematizando a forma pela qual este conceito tem sido tratado nas Ciências Humanas. Every society has some sort of hierarchy, division or categories. Some underlies within the structures of society, while others are created by the members of the society. Stigma is an unavoidable side of human society where ideal, division and discrimination-less society is just an imagination. This article argues that stigma in various form is generated, accepted in group, and becomes “common mind” to isolate any “other”, offering unequal distribution of opportunity and subjected to the social exclusion. It becomes matter of “we” and “other” and still left silence to become public concern.

Gender-based violence is a form of discrimination that prevents women from enjoying the rights and liberties on an equal level with men. Inevitably, domestic violence shows the same trend of victimizing women to such a degree that the term “domestic violence” is increasingly becoming synonymous with “violence against women”. The Istanbul Convention defines domestic violence as "gender-based violence against women", or in other words "violence that is directed against a woman because she is a woman or that affects women disproportionately." The situation is similar in the Republic of Macedonia, where women are predominantly victims of domestic violence. However, the Macedonian legal framework does not define domestic violence as gender-based violence, and thus it does not define it as a specific form of discrimination against women. The national legislation stipulates that victims are to be protected in both a criminal and a civil procedure, and the Law on Prevention and Protection from Domestic Violence determines the actions of the institutions and civil organizations in the prevention of domestic violence and the protection of victims. The system for protection of victims of domestic violence closely supports the Law on Social Protection and the Law on Free Legal Aid, both of which include provisions on additional assistance for women victims of domestic violence. However, the existing legislation has multiple deficiencies and does not allow for a greater efficacy in implementing the prescribed measures for the protection of victims of domestic violence. For this reason, as well as due to the inconsistent implementation of legal solutions of this particular issue, the civil sector is constantly expressing their concern about the increasingly wider spread of domestic violence against women and about the protection capabilities at their disposal. The lack of recognition of all forms of gender-based violence, the trivial number of criminal sentences against persons who perform acts of domestic violence, the insufficient support offered to victims – including victim shelters, legal assistance, and counseling, and the lack of systematic databases on domestic violence cases on a national level, are a mere few of the many issues clearly pointing to the inevitable conclusion that the protection of women-victims of domestic violence is inadequate. Hence, the functionality and efficiency of both the existing legislation and the institutions in charge of protection and support of women – victims of domestic violence is being questioned, which is also the subject for analysis in this paper.

We explore emerging contexts of social entrepreneurship in India. Social entrepreneurship is emerging as an important option in poverty reduction and social change wherein organizing societal responses to scenarios like entrenched deprivation, cumulative disadvantages, long extant institutional lock-in, and vulnerabilities enmeshed in social stratification, hiatus emanating from segmentation of labour market and inadequate coverage of social protection form the core of strategies/collectives/organisation. In this paper, first, drawing cues from the literature, we outline basic typology of social entrepreneurship while delineating pivotal role technology and collaboration play in social entrepreneurship. Second, we provide a glimpse of not profit organisations in India, based on the secondary data. We juxtapose select patterns from the data on non profit organisations with human development. Third, we discuss select cases of social entrepreneurship that diverge in characteristics and contexts, in particular how these initiatives work towards poverty reduction and social development.

We examined the influence of locus of control on the relationship between social exclusion and preference for distinctive choices. Participants were 212 undergraduate students at a university in Central China, who completed measures of social exclusion, locus of control, choice, and perceived uniqueness. Results showed that participants who believed that the environment controlled their fate (external locus of control) preferred more distinctive choices in a social exclusion context than in a social inclusion context, whereas participants who believed that they could control the environment (internal locus of control) preferred less distinctive choices. Further, perceived uniqueness mediated the effect of social exclusion and locus of control on choice. These results add to the literature on social exclusion and personal control.
