In this study, the potential possibilities of the precision of the vibrating reed method for the evaluation of the Тс of superconducting precursors in an HTSC Bi-Pb-Sr-Cu-O system were investigated. A special technology for obtaining these samples by using solar energy for melting and following superfast melt quenching was applied to increase their internal inhomogeneity, allowing to receive high-quality textural ceramic samples of Bi1,7Pb0,3Sr2Can-1CunOy (n=2-30) showing critical temperatures of superconducting precursor transitions above bulk Тс. To determine critical temperatures of superconducting precursors above bulk Тс for the first time, the original vibrating reed method of studying these multiphase samples in an applied magnetic field was used. It was shown that this method has sensitivity to superconducting diamagnetism making possible to reveal new superconducting precursor phases above bulk Tc.

At present, the problem of establishing disability is a point at issue in Russia. Despite the fact that medical criteria for disability are being developed very actively, high-quality methods for assessing social hallmarks are still lacking. Since disability is a phenomenon inherent in any society, each state forms a social and economic policy for people with disabilities in accordance with its level of development, priorities and opportunities. We have proposed a three-stage model, which includes a system for the consistent solution of the main tasks aimed at studying the causes and consequences of the problems encountered today in the social protection of citizens with health problems. The article shows why the existing approaches to the determination of disability and rehabilitation programs do not correspond to the current state of Russian society and why a decrease in the rate of persons recognized as disabled for the first time does not indicate an improvement in the health of the population. The authors proposed a number of measures with a view to correcting the situation according to the results of the study.

We report a facile BiBr3(DMSO)2 adduct process to produce high-quality Cs2AgBiBr6 films with large grains for the first time, which leads to an enhancement of over 40% on the PCE of Cs2AgBiBr6-based solar cells compared to that of the control sample.

Adults’ facial characteristics predict whether and how severely they are sentenced in the adult criminal justice system. We investigate whether characteristics of White and Latinx male youths’ faces predict the severity of their processing in the juvenile justice system. Among a sample of first-time offenders, despite no differences in the severity of their offenses, youth who were perceived by naïve observers as more dominant, less trustworthy, less healthy, and having darker skin were more likely to receive harsher sanctions. Thus, extralegal factors like appearance may bias legal decisions that place some youth at increased risk for more restrictive sanctioning. Our findings highlight the need for structured approaches to juvenile processing decisions that take youths’ appearance out of the picture.

Abstract Objective: Kyoto University Hospital has introduced the cancer genomic profiling tests, Oncoprime in 2015, Guardant360 in 2018, which are not under insurance coverage, FoundationOne CDx(F1CDx) and OncoGuide NCC Oncopanel system(NCC OP) in 2019, which received approval for insurance coverage for the first time in Japan. We investigated the results of cancer genomic profiling test under insurance coverage in our hospital. Methods: A special facility for the cancer genomic profiling tests was produced. To perform the cancer genomic profiling test, an outpatient must visit the facility three times (learning, ordering of the test, and getting the results). The expert panels decide the final test results and treatment options with the all information of the patients. Results: From November 2019 to March 2020, 51 and 9 patients were tested with F1CDx and NCC OP, respectively. 16 patients (31%) of F1CDX and 2 patients (22%) of NCC OP got treatment recommendations from the expert panels. However, only 5 patients (9.8%) of F1CDX and 1 patient (11%) of NCC OP received the treatments. The secondary finding suspecting germline mutations was found in 8 patients of F1CDX. Conclusion: After the approval the cancer genomic profiling tests with insurance coverage in Japan, it becomes easy for the patients to perform the test and get the genetic information of the tumor. However, it remains not easy to receive the recommended drugs because of several limitations of their usages.

Bacterial ghosts (BGs) are empty cell envelopes possessing native extracellular structures without a cytoplasm and genetic materials. BGs are proposed to have significant prospects in biomedical research as vaccines or delivery carriers. The applications of BGs are often limited by inefficient bacterial lysis and a low yield. To solve these problems, we compared the lysis efficiency of the wild-type protein E (EW) from phage ΦX174 and the screened mutant protein E (EM) in the Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) strain. The results show that the lysis efficiency mediated by protein EM was improved. The implementation of the pLysS plasmid allowed nearly 100% lysis efficiency, with a high initial cell density as high as OD600 = 2.0, which was higher compared to the commonly used BG preparation method. The results of Western blot analysis and immunofluorescence indicate that the expression level of protein EM was significantly higher than that of the non-pLysS plasmid. High-quality BGs were observed by SEM and TEM. To verify the applicability of this method in other bacteria, the T7 RNA polymerase expression system was successfully constructed in Salmonella enterica (S. Enterica, SE). A pET vector containing EM and pLysS were introduced to obtain high-quality SE ghosts which could provide efficient protection for humans and animals. This paper describes a novel and commonly used method to produce high-quality BGs on a large scale for the first time.

The occurrence of high-Tc superconductivity in the iron pnictides shares a similar amorphous characteristic with that of high-Tc superconducting cuprates. Here we show that nearly frictionless (electric-field-driven) transport of condensed electrons in amorphous superconductors could happen after using the Eyring's transition-rate approach which has been successfully adopted to study the critical transport of other superconductors as well as supersolid helium in very low temperature environment. The critical temperatures related to the nearly frictionless transport of electrons were found to be directly relevant to the superconducting temperature of high-temperature superconductors (like La [ O 1-x F x] FeAs (x = 0.11-0.12)) after selecting specific activation energies and activation volumes.

Arthur Foote (1853–1937) was one of the first American composers to receive his entire musical training in the United States and to go on to establish an international reputation. These seven works for cello and piano include a major romantic sonata and six smaller pieces. All are newly edited from the manuscript sources and original editions, and three are published here for the first time.


The Canadian prescription process requires a person to go through several steps. Prescription medications have associated risks and benefits and it is important for people to be aware of these before and while they are taking medications. One of the approaches to informing people about new prescription medications is that they are provided Consumer Medication Information (CMI). CMI is given to Canadians at the pharmacy when they pick up prescriptions, they will be taking for the first time. This study used semi-structured interviews to examine the lived experiences of a sample of Canadians (N = 36) to identify opportunities for improvement in how and when they are informed about new prescription medications. The findings were synthesized into a journey map. Generally, participants wanted to receive CMI digitally and earlier in the prescription process. Adopting these changes could have several benefits which include loss prevention and increased accessibility to CMI as well as more participatory decision making and opportunities to ask questions. Future research is warranted to explore similar topics with a larger sample and determine what method (e.g., email, website, mobile application) would be most suitable.

Purpose: This research focuses on the construction and validation of a scale designed to assess the quality of the supervised classes: Interaction on Supervised Classes Scale (ISCS).Design/methodology/approach: This is a descriptive correlational study. For the construction of the scale three phases were performed in which different experts assessed the adequacy of the items. Finally, the psychometric properties of the final version were studied in a sample of 314 consumers (69.1% women) aged between 18 and 77 with an average of 39.33 years (SD=12.25).Findings: The scale presents adequate validity and reliability, being a useful tool for measuring the interaction in Supervised Classes.Research limitations/implications: The sampling, non-probabilistic or convenience, have taken the sample of a unique sports facility and the small sample size.Practical implications: The ISCS allows managers to receive better feedback, allowing them to obtain deeper insight into the quality and satisfaction of the service. According to its results, the managers may implement different strategies to improve quality in a key service within sports centers.Originality/value: For the first time the interaction between customers and between customers and employees is evaluated both inside and outside the center, a topic that had not yet been studied in the scientific literature. The scale can be applied to any type of directed activity, and will allow a greater understanding of the quality of service.

The transition from nanocluster to nanocrystal is a central issue in nanoscience. The atomic structure determination of metal nanoparticles in the transition size range is challenging and particularly important in understanding the quantum size effect at the atomic level. On the basis of the rationale that the intra- and interparticle weak interactions play critical roles in growing high-quality single crystals of metal nanoparticles, we have reproducibly obtained ideal crystals of Au144(SR)60 and successfully solved its structure by x-ray crystallography (XRC); this structure was theoretically predicted a decade ago and has long been pursued experimentally but without success until now. Here, XRC reveals an interesting Au12 hollow icosahedron in thiolated gold nanoclusters for the first time. The Au–Au bond length, close to that of bulk gold, shows better thermal extensibility than the other Au–Au bond lengths in Au144(SR)60, providing an atomic-level perspective because metal generally shows better thermal extensibility than nonmetal materials. Thus, our work not only reveals the mysterious, long experimentally pursued structure of a transition-sized nanoparticle but also has important implications for the growth of high-quality, single-crystal nanoparticles, as well as for the understanding of the thermal extensibility of metals from the perspective of chemical bonding.
