Digital technologies have changed the world dramatically and, as a consequence, higher education is undergoing significant teaching and learning transformations based on their use. The need to plan and produce disruptive innovations for traditional learning tools brings a challenge in this sense. One of these modern pedagogical perspectives is the use of transmedia storytelling in education, which has given a new configuration to instructional tools and have changed their forms and educational function. We present a proposal of specialized vocabulary in reproductive biology of plants using the principles of transmedia storytelling. The design of an educational transmedia artifact for the particular terminological entry of the term «polinizador» is shown to illustrate the proposed structure for the vocabulary. This artifact is constituted by diverse resources made with the use of different media and is based on the use of tags linked to each resource, which allow interactive navigation between them, structuring the storytelling about the selected term. Each resource adds particular information on the definition of the term, so that the student can obtain the answer he needs. Transmedia storytelling allows the students’ interaction with resources in a way consistent with their own interests, making them the center of their learning.

This conceptual chapter introduces theoretical issues to consider when reflecting on digital technologies in educational processes. Rather than beginning this book with a practical discussion of how to employ digital technologies as teaching or learning tools, the ideas presented here, and in this section of the book, provide a beginning to philosophically probing the implications of integrating such technologies into schooling. This type of reflection, initiated in this chapter and developed further in others, should continue throughout the book to inform perspectives shaped when reading about more practical matters. Ideally, theory and practice concerning digital technologies form a cyclical relationship. The dialogue presented here on empowerment, identity, and social/corporate globalization will hopefully lead to a Freirian notion of praxis involving reflection and action that transforms the world.

The concept of Instructional Technology (IT) has become recognized as a crucial element in the educational field. Instructional technologies are now supporting curricula that promote effectiveness and efficiency in academic performance of all levels of education in Nigerian schools. The objectives of bringing all the instructional tools together are to engage students and have the best potential that enhances learning outcomes. The concern of this chapter, therefore, is to address the agreeable definition of instructional technology, IT as educational problem solver focused on emerging technologies for teaching and learning. Areas of consideration are instructional technologies and its challenges, effective organization of instructional materials in schools, usefulness of local instructional packages, and obstacles in using instructional technology in Nigerian schools. The chapter concludes and recommends that schools should create enabling environments for the use of Instructional Technology (IT), which would enhance efficiency in teaching and learning.

Powerful and modern digital technologies have significantly impacted mathematics teaching – both what is to be learned and how it should be learned. Technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge (TPACK) is the knowledge that teachers rely on for teaching content with appropriate digital technologies. What preparation do mathematics teachers need in order to develop this knowledge needed for integrating appropriate digital technologies as teaching and learning tools? The challenges of understanding TPACK and identifying appropriate educational programs for pre-service mathematics teachers call for thoughtful attention toward the development of the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that support the dynamic nature embedded within the TPACK construct. The design of appropriate pre-service teacher learning trajectories for developing a rigorous TPACK emphasizes that both how and where they learn to teach mathematics are fundamental to what is learned about teaching and learning mathematics. Redesign ideas and models support re-thinking and re-designing pre-service mathematics teacher preparation programs.

Traditional theories on classroom learning focus on fixed curriculum, static learning tools and believe learning is achieved through repetition and rote memorization. The instructor’s role in a traditional learning environment focuses on providing direction to the student versus facilitating learning. As the technology age becomes more prevalent in educational institutions, it is time to approach teaching and learning from a technological point of view.  Due to the extensive and diverse technologies available to higher education institutions, many are considering and implementing initiatives to take advantage of the coverage and the return on investment features of these technologies. This adaptation often involves the use of multimedia and the transfer of course content over the Internet.  A detailed look at applications on the Internet can identify multimedia items, such as animation, slideshows, announcements, blogging and even instant messaging, which can be implemented successfully in the college classroom. Multimedia, which uses the Internet as its transfer mechanism, should be a consideration when designing an effective and dynamic college classroom experience.

As the tech sector continues to grow and emerging technologies from around the world become more common, it is now more important than ever to ensure Canada maintains its position as a growing, prominent tech economy. However, past efforts to define the tech sector, while useful, have almost exclusively focused on the information and communications technology sector. Today, technology has become so ubiquitous across all Canadian industries that this approach understates the true impact that the tech sector has on Canada’s economy. For this report, we developed the first pan-Canadian definition of Canada’s tech sector using a proven methodology that has defined other sectors internationally. It is our goal to identify the composition and accurately measure the impact that Canada’s tech sector has on the economy. Using our more encompassing definition, we found that Canada’s tech sector is exceptionally diverse, ranging from digital technologies to aerospace and pharmaceuticals. The sector is also much broader in size, scope and geography than ever before. It is truly a pan-Canadian sector with pan-Canadian impacts.

The modern world space has long gone beyond the construction of the information society, because digital technologies are absorbing more and more areas of public life, radically changing the forms and methods of their implementation. Therefore, most countries in the world focus on development in the direction of building a "digital economy", using all possible competitive advantages from its implementation. Ukraine is trying to keep up with the development of information technology in various areas of both public sector governance and public life. Some achievements have been made, but the systemic and synergistic effect on the development of the country has not been achieved, despite the significant potential of domestic IT professionals, who are among the top five IT outsourcers in the world. In my opinion, the very use of digitalization in the field of governance in the public sector can be the first impetus for digital transformations for the development of Ukraine's competitive economy. Therefore, they need -analysis of theoretical and practical approaches to a detailed study of the features of digitalization in the public sector of Ukraine during its digital transformation and the development of proposals for their implementation, which was the topic of my research. The word "digitalization" has entered our vocabulary so imperceptibly, but quite thoroughly, that in 2019 it was even recognized as the word of the year. Although the very definition of the concept is still debated not only in the domestic scientific field, but also abroad. The Dictionary of Modern Ukrainian Language and Slang "Myslovo" explains this neologism as a transliteration of the English "digitalization", which means changes in all spheres of public life related to the use of digital technologies, and is a manifestation of the global digital revolution. In my opinion, I agree with my colleagues that the development of digital transformations in the system of public sector management and administration is a potential example for the whole country, which in general also provides significant benefits for private companies - increased productivity and competitiveness, as well as for people. - acquisition of new knowledge and skills, choice of work and expansion of opportunities.

We live in a time surrounded by innumerable technological innovations that have impacted this generation significantly, since very early people already make use of some electronic gadget, navigating a universe rich in entertainment features, allowing access to different content whether close or even far. Such technological innovations promote relevant transformations in all sectors of society, contributing to the formation of more active and participative subjects in issues of interest around themselves and the world, favoring the dissemination of popular culture and its enrichment. New technologies favor changes in thinking, acting, teaching and learning, as they have significantly contributed to the advancement of communication and access to information in real time. It is noticed that children are increasingly getting access to these technological tools and master them very skillfully, being able to teach the most advanced in age the use of these novelties. Thinking about the way the child is positioned in the technological society, this work sought to investigate the importance of using new digital technologies in the classroom to enhance the teaching-learning process in the early years of basic education.
