Seventeen genotypes of French bean were evaluated to study the genetic variability component and correlation. The research was conducted at Horticultural Research Centre, Chauras Campus, H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand (India) during zaid season, 2018. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation values were high for fresh weight of nodules & dry weight of nodules per plant, number of pods per plant, pod diameter, yield of green pods per plant, per plot & per hectare and number of picking. The high heritability was found for almost all the traits studied. The yield of green pods per plot had significant positive association both at genotypic and phenotypic levels for number of pods per plant, pod weight, pod length, pod diameter, yield of green pods per plant, number of picking and yield of green pod per hectare. The selection of high yielding genotypes should be given emphasis to number of pod per plant, pod weight, pod length, pod diameter and number of pickings.

Uniform and healthy seeds of green gram cv. Pratap (SG-1) were treated with two mutagens, gamma rays (physical mutagen) and EMS (chemical mutagen) alone and in combination. The two hundred forty M1 progenies were laid in randomized block design with three replications during Kharif, 2017 to raise M2 generation. Analysis of variance discloses significant differences among the treatments for all the eight characters studied. It was observed that in general, the combination dose, i.e., 200 Gy+0.2% EMS gave superior results in almost all the yield attributing characteristics. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was recorded for seed yield per plant, which indicates the predominance of additive gene action. Number of pods per plant followed by pod length showed high significant positive correlation with seed yield per plant. The character number of pods per cluster had shown positive correlation with seed yield per plant, but path analysis revealed its negative direct effect on seed yield.

The heterosis and combining ability studies were conducted by utilizing modified Line X Tester mating design involving 6 Lines and 9 testers of Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]. The breeding material involving fifty four F1 hybrids along with 15 parents with one commercial check were evaluated during Kharif 2020 in a Randomized Block Design (R.B.D.) with three replications at Research Centre of Goldking Biogene Private Limited with an aim to estimate the magnitude of heterosis and to identify the good parents and good hybrid combinations for pod yield and other quantitative traits. Among the parents GKOF-1, GKOF-5 and GOM-7 were found to be good general combiners for pod yield per plot. Among the lines GKOF-3, GKOF-4 and GKOF-6 and testers GKOM-4, GKOM-5, GKOM-7 and GKOM-9 were found to be involved in exhibiting significant sca effects for almost all characters. Among the crosses GKOF-2 X GKOM-5, GKOF-1 X GKOM-8 and GKOF-6 X GKOM-7 exhibited high per se performance for pod yield per plot. Further the cross GKOF-1 X GKOM-7, GKOF-4 X GKOM-9 and GKOF-6 X GKOM-4 revealed highest positively significant sca effects for pod yield per plot.

Bawang merah merupakan salah satu komoditas hortikultura strategis yang penyebarannya hampir di seluruh wilayah Indonesia. Permasalahan pengembangan komoditas ini adalah masih rendahnya produktivitas sebagai akibat adaptasi dan kecukupan asupan hara tanaman. Penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan jenis pupuk NPK yang efektif dan efisien telah dilakukan di desa Langensari Kecamatan Lembang Kabupaten Bandung Barat dari Maret sampai Mei 2014 menggunakan Rancangan Acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 6 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Pupuk NPK yang digunakan adalah A= NPK 18+9+10+Te, B=NPK 15+15+sulfat 10, C=NPK 12+11+18z+(S) z +3 Mg+3,8S+Te, D= NPK 15+9+20(S)+2 MgO+3,8 S+Te, E= NPK 25+7+7 dan F=kontrol. Parameter yang diamati meliputi: tinggi tanaman, jumlah umbi, jumlah daun, panjang umbi (cm), diameter umbi (cm), bobot basah (g) dan bobot kering brangkasan (g). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa NPK 12+11+18z+(S)z+3 Mg+3,8S+Te menghasilkan bobot umbi terbaik. The shallot is one of the strategic and valuable horticultural commodities which is spreaded almost all over Indonesia area. Commodity development constrain by the low productivity as a result of adaptation and inadequate intake of plant nutrients. The research purposed  to get the kind of NPK fertilizers that was efective and efficient on shallot production had been done in the Langensari village Langensari Lembang district, West Bandung regency from March till May 2014, using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 6 treatments and 3 repplications. NPK fertilizer used were: A = NPK 18+9+10+Te, B = NPK 15+15+sulfate 10, C = NPK 12+11+18z+(S) z + 3 Mg+3,8S+Te, D = NPK 15+9+20(S)+2MgO+3,8 S+Te, E = NPK 25+7+7 and F = control. The observed parameters were plant height (cm), number of tubers, leaf number, tuber length, tuber diameter, fresh weight and dry weight tuber. The results showed that NPK 12+11+18z+ (S)z+3 Mg+3,8S+Te gave the best growth and production.

<p>Patchouli Aceh Lhokseumawe is a patchouli that has a high oil content.  However, the Lhokseumawe species have narrow plant genetic variation due to vegetative propagation. This study aims to analysis broad genetic variability and phenotypes, correlation between growth character and strong yield character to help selection in plant breeding.  The research was conducted at experimental field of the Politeknik Negeri Lampung in April until October 2018.  The research used Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 10 genotype and 3 replications.  Analysis of the data used is ANOVA, if significantly different followed by the LSI 5%, then using variability genotype and phenotype and t test. The result showed that NPL 1 had a better appearance than the Lhokseumawe (local) genotype in the LSI 5%.  Extensive genotype variability was found ini g/plant dry weight character and ton/ha dry terna production, broad phenotype variability was found in all observed characters.  High heritability is found in the characters of stem diameter, wet weight, dry weight, and production of dry ton/ha. Significantly positive phenotypic correlations that have high oil yield are characterized by the characteristics of dry weight, ton/ha dry cattle production, wet weight, and harvest index. Positive genotypic correlations were evident between growth and yield characters, namely the oil yield with leaf length, and leaf width.</p>

Bawang merah (Allium cepa L. var aggregatum) salah satu komoditas hortikultura banyak di konsumsi. Peningkatan permintaan dalam kuantitas dan kualitas untuk komoditas ini meningkatkan ketersediaan varietas unggul. Penelitian dilakukan untuk menduga keragaman genotipe dan fenotipe serta nilai heritabilitas karakter pertumbuhan, komponen hasil dan hasil bawang merah di tiga lokasi dataran tinggi (Lembang 1.250 m dpl, Kab. Bandung Barat; Pacet 971 m dpl, Kab. Bandung; dan Samarang, 970 m dpl, Kab. Garut). Penelitian dilaksanakan dari September sampai Nopember 2019. Materi genetik yaitu 12 genotipe bawang merah terdiri dari 7 klon: B1, B19, B63, B72, B77, B102, dan B222, serta 5 varietas: Trisula, Bali Karet, Maja Cipanas, Bima Brebes dan Sumenep. Rancangan percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 3 ulangan. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukan genotipe berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap seluruh karakter pertumbuhan, komponen hasil, dan hasil. Nilai koefisisen keragaman genotipe dan fenotipe yang tinggi diperlihatkan oleh karakter persentase tanaman berbunga (48,10 % dan 49,01 %), berat basah per umbi (29,71 % dan 30,87 %), dan berat kering per umbi (33,17 % dan 34,29 %). Nilai duga heritabilitas arti luas (Hbs) karakter pada 12 genotipe bawang merah berkisar antara 45,08-96,30 %. Semua karakter yang diuji memiliki nilai heritabilitas tinggi kecuali untuk karakter jumlah daun per rumpun nilai heritabilitasnya sedang. Seleksi bawang merah di dataran tinggi dapat dilakukan pada generasi awal.AbstractShallots (Allium cepa L. var aggregatum) are one of the most widely consumed horticultural commodities in Indonesia. Increased demand in quantity and quality for this commodity improved availability varieties. A study was conducted to estimate variability of genotypes and phenotypes as well as the heritability value of growth characters, yield components, and yields of shallot at three highland locations (Lembang 1.250 m asl, West Bandung District; Pacet 971 m asl, Bandung District; and Samarang 970 m asl, Garut District). The research was conducted from September to November 2019. The genetic material studied was 12 genotypes of shallots consisting of 7 clones: B1, B19, B63, B72, B77, B102, and B222, and 5 varieties: Trisula, Bali Karet, Maja Cipanas, Bima Brebes, and Sumenep. Every experiments in all locations was arranged in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 replications. The analysis of variance results showed that the genotype had a very significant effect on all growth characters, yield components, and yields. High variation coefficient values of genotype and phenotype was found in the character of percentage of flowering plants (48.10% and 49.01%), freshweight per bulb (29.71% and 30.87%), and dry weight per bulb (33.17% and 34.29%). All characters tested had a wide phenotific variability. The estimated value of heritability (broad meaning) of the characters in 12 shallot genotypes ranged from 45.08 to 96.30%. All characters tested has high heritability except for the number of leaves per clump the heritability was moderate. The study is the shallot selection in the highlands can be carried out in the early generations.

The present study was conducted at the research field of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Patuakhali during the period from December 2013 to March 2014 to study on the effect of a concentrated fertilizer (Cropmax) on the growth and yield the Mung bean. It also observed the comparative growth and yield performance of foliar application Cropmax ( 0, 2.0, 3.0 and 5.0 ml L–1) . Data were collected on plant height, leaf per plant, branches per plant, length of root, leaf area, dry weight of shoot, dry weight of root, TDM, AGR, CGR and RGR, number of pod per plant, pod length, number of seed per pod, thousand seed weight, grain yield (t ha–1), straw yield (t ha–1), biological yield (t ha–1) and harvest index (%) etc.The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized block design (RCBD) with three replications. The collected data were analyzed statistically and means were adjudged by DMRT at 5% level of probability. The present investigation was undertaken in randomized block design with two replications during rabi-2018 at Instructional-cum-Research Farm, RCSM College of Agriculture, Kolhapur. A set of 15 germplasm of French bean viz. Phule Suyash, Phule Surekha, Contender, Sevil, Arka Suvidha, Arka Komal, IC -039081, IC -28008, EC -28304, EC -500354, EC -500377, Selection -9, Falguni, Vaishnavi and EC -530909 was evaluated. The data indicated the significant differences with respect to growth and yield among the various germplasm of french bean. The earliest 50% flowering was seen in Contender (33.13 days) whereas the maximum number of days required for 50% flowering was in IC- 0339081 (45.60 days) closely followed by Falguni (42.20). As far as the numbers of primary branches per plant, Arka Suvidha had 2.70 at 30 DAS and 3.80 at 45 DAS while the germplasm IC-28008 recorded the highest number of secondary branches per plant (6.80 and 8.60) at 45 and 60 DAS, respectively. The tallest plants were observed in Phule Surekha (22.90 cm) at 30 DAS while at 45 and 60 DAS, taller plants were noticed in IC-28008 (78.70 and 93.75cm, respectively). The number of pod cluster per plant was found to range from 28.60 (EC-28304) to 12.00 (Selection-9). The highest pod length and width were noticed in Selection -9 and Phule Surekha (14.29 cm and 1.51cm, respectively) whereas the least pod length was found in Phule Surekha and Vaishnavi (9.21cm and 0.69cm, respectively). The highest number of pods per plant (162.40), individual pod weight (3.85g) and number of seeds per pod (7.60) were higher in EC -500354 which resulted in higher yield per hectare (34.73 t) followed by Arka Komal (24.22 t) and Phule Surekha (21.42 t.).

Background: Blackgram is an important pulse crop grown in almost all agro ecological zones in India. One of the major limitations of pulse cultivation in India is lack of superior genotypes with better adaptation to local conditions. Hence developing high yielding stable blackgram genotypes becomes a necessity to improve the area and production across the country. With this background, the present study was undertaken to identify stable and superior performing blackgram genotypes over seasons. Methods: The experiment was carried out during kharif 2017, rabi 2017-18, kharif 2018 and rabi 2018-19 at National Pulse Research Centre, Vamban. A total of 21 genotypes were evaluated in randomized block design with two replications in each environment. The data on seed yield was subjected to statistical analysis. The G X E interaction was studied as per Eberhart and Russell model, AMMI model and GGE biplot analyses. Result: In Eberhart and Russell model, the checks VBN 6, VBN 8 and VBN 10 and genotypes VBG 17-019, VBG 17-023 and VBG 17-026 were considered as stable with average response to the environments. In biplot 1 of AMMI analysis, check VBN 8 and genotypes VBG 16-005 and VBG 17-023 were considered as stable with high mean seed yield and less interaction with environment. In biplot 2 of AMMI analysis VBG 16-005 and VBG 007 were less interactive genotypes. GGE biplots indicated that rabi seasons are more informative than kharif seasons to assess the stability of genotypes. This model identified VBG 17-007, VBG 17-024 and VBG 17-030 as ideal genotype with high mean seed yield and stability. It also identified VBG 17-023 as with high mean seed yield and moderate interaction with environment. Based on the results of all models, the genotype VBG 17-023 was considered as stable genotype with high mean seed yield. Hence, the genotype VBG 17-023 can be tested in larger environments to release for general cultivation.

Twenty genetically diverse chickpea genotypes were grown in a randomized block design experiment with three replications during two years 2010-11 and 2011-12. Data on individual plants were recorded on days to 50% flowering, seed yield, protein content (%), volume of seed (ml), density of seed, hydration capacity, swelling capacity, cooking time (min) and swelling index (%).The analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed significant differences among the genotypes for all the characters showing enough variability among the genotypes. Further, the estimates of heritability were high for all the traits except days to 50% flowering in both the years. Swelling index, volume of seed, cooking time and seed yield had high heritability coupled with high genetic advance indicated that these characters are under additive genetic control and simple selection will be effective for their improvement. None of the quality traits showed any association with seed yield, however, quality traits showed certain positive/negative associations among selves e.g. volume of seed showed significant and positive association with hydration capacity and swelling capacity; swelling capacity with hydration capacity in both the years. Further, density of seed showed significant and negative association with volume of seed and hydration capacity during both the years.

Perbanyakan tanaman teh dengan menggunakan setek satu daun saat ini merupakan cara yang umum untuk memenuhi kebutuhan bahan tanaman dalam jumlah yang banyak dengan waktu yang singkat. Salah satu syarat dalam perakitan klon teh unggul baru adalah kemudahan klon tersebut untuk diperbanyak secara vegetatif. Hal ini dikarenakan klon yang mudah diperbanyak secara vegetatif lebih disukai oleh para pekebun. Salah satu pengujian yang harus dilakukan dalam proses pemuliaan tanaman teh adalah uji perbanyakan vegetatif pada kandidat klon unggul baru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui variabilitas kemampuan pertumbuhan dan beberapa komponen pertumbuhan benih setek dalam uji perbanyakan vegetatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Persemaian Pemuliaan Kebun Percobaan Pusat Penelitian Teh dan Kina Gambung. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 19 klon sebagai perlakuan yang diulang tiga kali, setiap perlakuan ditanam 52 benih setek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hampir seluruh variabilitas genetik pada karakter yang diamati tergolong dalam kategori luas, kecuali untuk karakter panjang akar, dan berat kering akar. Variabilitas fenotipik menunjukkan bahwa hampir seluruh karakter yang diamati tergolong dalam kategori luas, kecuali berat kering akar. Currently, propagation of tea plant using one leaf is a common way to fulfil the need of plant material in large quantity also short in time. One of requirements in assembling new superior tea clone is the easy of clone to be propagated vegetatively. Clone which is easy to propagate in vegetative way is apt more by the gardeners. One required test on tea plant breeding process is vegetative propagation test of new superior clone candidates. This research aimed to determine variability of growth ability and several growth components of cutting seed in vegetative propagation. The research was carried out in Breeding Nursery, Experimental Field of Tea and Cinchona Research Institute Gambung. The trial was set in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 19 clones as the treatment which was repeated three times, each treatment consisted of 52 cutting seeds. The result showed that almost all genetic variability of characters observed were included to wide category, except for root length and root dry weight characters. Phenotypic variability showed that nearly all characters observed were comprised to wide category, except root dry weight.
